Pat Shortt still tops in Ireland

Sunday, April 2 2006, 00:04 BST - by Neil Wilkes

Pat Shortt's reign at the top of the Irish singles chart shows no signs of abating.

'Jumbo Breakfast Roll', the biggest selling single of all time in the country, has now notched up a sixth week in the number one position.

Ne Yo rose an impressive four places to two while Morrissey's 'You Have Killed Me' was the week's highest new entry at nine

'Jumbo Breakfast Roll' what the hell is this? biggest ever single!!?!? :o :o

I ain't got a clue, where is Shaky Fan when you need him

Sounds horrible.

"The biggest selling single of all time"?

...and the Irish complain about the jokes about them? :D ;)

Anyone remember a song called meatpie sausage roll? I think that was football related.

I downloaded it from limewire a while ago  its not that great
It's just a stupid dumb novelty record that has taken off over here. It's not even getting that much airplay (although PAT SHORTT is hugely popular). I VERY much doubt it's the biggest selling single of all-time in Ireland as reported in the original article...

I've just downloaded tonight.

It does not paint the Irish in a good light if this rubbish is #1 for 6 weeks after Shayne Ward was #1 there for two months.

That Roy Keane "Leave Right Now" parody was a million times funnier.

Just checked imdb - he was in Father Ted.

Oh, and "Meat Pie, Sausage Roll" is absolutely awful.

Just checked imdb - he was in Father Ted.

who was he? (imdb takes ages to load  )

He played Tom. I haven't seen FT for ages, is he the character with the "I Shot Jr" t-shirt?

Yea, can see why it's popular, a nice singalong

Chorus.

Two eggs,

Two sausage,

Two rashers,

Two bacon,

Two puddin’ - one black, one white.

All stacked like a tower on top of each other

And rolled up good and tight.

If you’re havin some tea the milk’s over there

You’ll find sugar in the bowl

Says she “do you want some sauce on that”, says I “I do in my…. roll”

Ireland are so dire!

No offence but the crap they let #1 in their charts make our charts look like a god.

I think that's quite unfair. This is the irish equivalent to Peter Kay - Is this the way to Amarillo
