Are all Michael Jackson singles re-entries in the charts or are they actually new entries, because they are not actually new records as such.

How are they classified officially, some websites such as chartfreaks.com have put RE in brackets, and the Official Top 40 chart on Radio 1 have put NE in brackets.

I'm confused

They are new entries because I'm assuming they all have different catalogue numbers to the original releases, and its the catalogue numbers that decide if the single is to be classed as new entry/climber/re entry etc.

well of course they are new entries, as when they were first out cds would only have been invented and so the idea of having a cd single with a dvd on the other side would be many years off. plus the fact that the record company sonybmg wouldnt have existed back in those days, with sony probably only making cd players, tapes and betamax videos or something like that

however even though they are new entries dont think they will be classed as a new hit as the record would have to be re-recorded?
