I've been hammering 'SAOKO' for a month now but like a lot of you guys I can't get into 'CHICKEN TERIYAKI' and the SNL performance did nothing to change that :( on more of a positive note, the solo performance of 'LA FAMA' was great:

 

^Yes, was amazing, it actually sounds much much better solo than with The Weeknd, guess they had to transpose the song to fit the Weeknd's voice but sounds much better in this other key. Not sure why she performed wrapped in a duvet though :D

I'm yet to listen to the album in full but Candy is up there with her best for me already :heart:

It seems like most people are loving the album despite not being sure about the singles. It's been an interesting rollout... must admit I've loved everything though (even Chicken Teriyaki is fun :ph34r: )

Ok, after listening through to the whole album I *finally* get Saoko! It did absolutely nothing for me before but I'm fully on board now - same with Chicken Teriyaki. Also loving Candy and La Combi Versace :wub:

Candy is the bestest <3 totally loving it and the video in Tokyo and the Lost in Translation references, even Scarlet's wig <3

 

 

Sakura as closer is also spectacular

 

Wish they had dropped the album without singles cos the singles roll out is one of the worst I can remember, next time do a Folklore!!!!

need more listens to determine all of my favourites but I was enjoying 'CUUUUuuuuuute' the most from that initial listen through, gave me some Arca vibes :wub:

I totally agree with this. The album rollout was a mess and I wasn't expecting a lot after listening to the singles, but they totally work as a whole. I also agree that it would have been the best if Rosalía pulled a surprise album release without any standalone releases.

 

As a side note, it's currently with a score of 95 (!) from 13 reviews at Metacritic, which is insane at this point.

This rollout has reminded me of Billie Eilish's last album where the singles got pretty mixed if not outright negative reception and then everyone loved the album...

 

I have to defend 'CHICKEN TERIYAKI', it's obviously not a very innovative song or anything and I expect there will be much better elsewhere on the album but for what it is (i.e. a throwaway reggaetón banger) it's a lot of fun, has been stuck in my head a lot since I first heard it. I was expecting much worse from everything I'd read about it. Compare it to that one other big female reggaetón song at the moment (the Becky G/Karol G one) and it's still a million times more engaging even if it's pretty basic by her own standards. 'Milionària' still remains the only actually bad song I've heard from her to date.

The production doesn't give you a chance to breathe or settle — I love it. The more I listen to this the more I think this is an AOTY contender.

crazy the high reviews this is getting, never would have expected it, its got a 95 on Metacritic

apparently a Deluxe is coming soon with 4 extra tracks

Hadn’t found time to listen to any of the advance singles but took a listen to the album today and loved it - so refreshing with its mix of styles, I didn’t know what to expect next and it kept me completely hooked

This has sailed to AOTY status for me <3 I sense a personal chart takeover similar to the infamous Ed Sheeran 'Divide' invasion of the U.K. chart in 2017, sooo much quality throughout

 

charted at #42 here today - frustratingly close to top 40 but at least a massive leap forward commercially compared to the also brilliant 'El Mal Querer'!

#42 is ok considering it's mostly relying on streams and she got zero playlist support in the UK

so it's all pure fan streams and real proper album streams

 

I kinda think they picked the singles based on which were more controversial/shocking

but the real-quality singles are gonna come out now, Candy, Bizcochito...

Candy is already song of the year contender for me
