They spent £100m on a campaign that just said get ready. I still have no idea what I needed to have done to get ready. How can you get ready when you don’t know how we are going to leave? Why should I have even needed to get ready when Brexit is the best thing ever?

It was public money spent on a party political campaign.

How much money are we talking about - numbers please...

And if no preparations had been made, and No Deal happened, you'd call them out on *that* too - you can't have it BOTH ways.

That's like the contradictory claims of the extreme-right that 'Immigrants are taking our jobs' and 'Immigrants are just dole spongers'...

The government has the power to ensure that we do not leave without a deal. It is the duty of governments to prepare for certain calamities such as extreme weather. The difference there is that the governmemt cannot control the weather; it can control whether we leave the EU without a deal.

Insofar as they did mention what we should do, it was all about extra documentation that would be required where no documents were required before. A less partisan press would have reminded their readers that the Leave campaign promised less red tape.

Breaking. PM has restored the Tory whip to 10 Tory independents

Burt, Nokes, Greg Clark, Soames, Vaizey, James, Benyon, S Hammond (not P Hammond), Brine, Harrington.

It's not known why not the others.

MP's arguing now over whether it should be Monday 9th Dec. or Thurs. 12th. Does it really matter? Traditionally it's been Thursday.

Isn't there something to do with students, which I imagine is a major factor? There's obviously a ploy here. I'd still rather a 2nd Referendum rather than a General Election as I think we're going to end up completely split again, but who knows really I suppose.

Ukip has become irrelevant now that they've lost all their MEPs and have been usurped as the main kamikaze-leave organization by the Brexit Party. I imagine they'll end up folding or merging into one of the minor far-right parties like For Britain within the next year.

I'm presuming that Ukip won't be taking part in the debates this year - they were classed as a "major party" in 2015 & 2017, and I understand that is a party's performance in the prior two General Elections, as well as opinion polling that decides whether they get designated as such. I imagine that the Brexit Party will try to get such designation, based upon winning the European Elections & polling more than 10% in opinion polls, and I think there'll be some controversy surrounding this as we come into the election season.

According to the Sun we'll leave the EU on New Year's Eve. If Boris wins a majority he plans to rush his deal through the Commons in the last few days of December.
I’ll be honest with you Simon, I genuinely forgot they even existed

I suspect half their members had forgotten they exist. That would be about three people.

I may be wrong, but I suspect parliament cannot enact any legislation until the session has been formally opened. That would require a Queen's Speech the week before Christmas.

So as is being said on Twitter, Facebook and other forums, this is the day our beloved PM, Boris, dies in a ditch. RIP Boris. A fine man. You'll be sorely missed. :(

Anyway what a sad day. We should have been leaving today. :( No wonder I feel very down and despondent today.

Of course there will be small areas of the country where he's disliked, just as the other leaders will be disliked by some too. :)
