That's nonsense to say no one cared about the Eu before the referendum, a party like UKIP came from nowhere to winning a European election in 20 years.

I accept that this was the flagship policy of the party, but I'm not sure if a lot of the 2011-2015 UKIP vote- particularly the substantial BNP vote they absorbed - actually had leaving the EU as their number one priority in mind over generic far right stuff/racism.

Until the referendum, the number of people saying EU membership was one of the most import issues for them was consistently between 5 and 10%. For the vast majority of people, it simply wasn’t a major concern.

Boris has taken his top ministers up to the North East. The Cabinet's meeting in one of the poorest parts of the UK today, Sunderland, just to show we're all in this together.

The leave vote won by a margin of 22% in the city, with 61% of voters (82,394) coming out in support of leaving the EU.

Sky News At Breakfast With Kay Burley is coming from Leeds today.

In one word - Money.

Yes, all the remaining countries, especially Germany, France and Italy will all pay a lot more in to the EU coffers now that we've left.

Michael Gove just told Sky News that there will be no extension after 31st Dec even for a few weeks to finalise deals that are almost done but not quite. He said "Deadlines have to be met and they concentrate minds"

You mean like the March 2019 deadline? And the October 2019 deadline?

So all those voting for the 'UK Independence Party' were all clearly all fruitcakes and Loons then, ok!

Come on, you know better than that.

The Tories didn't have the numbers to win the necessary vote then - that was hardly their fault.

Or so Remainers would like people to believe.

Errr, it kind of was - was it not themselves that threw their majority in the bin back in 2017?

Also was it not Boris who at the time purged 23 members of his own party?

The ERG were a major factor as to why Britain didn't leave the EU in March 2019. If every Tory Brexiteer MP voted for Theresa May's deal, then it would've passed and it would've been almost a year since we left.

Yes, remainers who wouldn't have voted for it anyway.

That was *why* he didn't have the numbers.

Well done. Are you gonna address the other point I made or... ?

They didn't *get* a majority in 2017 - I thought that was the point?

Yes, because they decided to call an election and therefore it was their fault they lost their majority and as you say "didn't have the numbers".

Jeeeez, if you get any slower you'll stop.

I thought this forum had rules about ad hominem attacks?

Contrast the dignified and affectionate farewell to the UK in Brussels yesterday with the juvenile antics of Farage and his mob in the course of the week and the triumphalist nonsense from the deluded.

Did anyone see Ch.4 news from Sunderland at 7? There was a crowd of flag waving Leavers and one was asked what the benefits of leaving are and he had no idea, just didn't answer. They asked others and all they got was about taking our country back. They were chanting Rule Britannia whilst holding pint glasses. One old biddy said we'll be back in when all the leavers have died.

Ann Widdecombe was on too saying she wouldn't miss her new job really.

Big party in No.10 right now says ITV News, paid for by the taxpayers, with all food and drink being British, so no champagne but plenty of wine. The entire Cabinet, No.10 staff and many senior Civil Servants all tucking in to roast beef canapes, mini Yorkshire puddings and English cheeses and biscuits as 11pm approaches.

The Cabinet was taken in a side door to avoid any press amid rumours that some are already a bit merry. :D

The people on the Brexit side flew British flags and parachute regiment flags - bunch of c**ts!!

There's a big timer counting down on Downing Street now - it's a huge propaganda coup!
