The election looks too close to call with just hours to go until the polls close - with both parties claiming that high turnout will boost their chances.

Going into today, Boris Johnson had a narrowing lead in the polls and is hoping to secure a swathe of northern Labour seats to give him a majority.

But Labour sources claim its traditional vote is holding up and the so-called 'red wall' is not crumbling as predicted weeks before the election.

One veteran Labour activist, who had previously been pessimistic about the party’s prospects said their vote appeared to be holding up better than feared in ‘red wall’ seats.

‘It doesn’t feel like there’s any real move towards Johnson or away from Corbyn,’ they said.

‘I think we could easily see almost exactly the same result as last time.’

I'm flitting between hope and despair knowing that what I want to happen won't happen  I'm getting hope over the small things, and all the social media buzz, but then I remember, I just follow the right people  But there's so much about youth turnout, I think we can at least not have a Tory majority.

I just need this exit poll, sick with nerves D:

"""Tory insiders""" are apparently reporting that they think there's a genuine chance the Lib Dem vote has collapsed enough in favour of tactical Labour voting in Uxbridge & South Ruislip that Boris Johnson might lose his own seat. I think that's one of the only things that might count as a small silver lining if there is a Tory majority.

(It's also possible they're just saying this to motivate the Tory vote to come out there though so I still wouldn't bank on that happening)

OH MY GOD. Noooo.

Anyway he's got another job as a milkman lined up.

Tweet from Brendan Cox:

"I’ve just been accidentally sent a zip file with all the raw data from the exit poll to this point. All data up to 2pm. The file includes all exit data in all regions 0700 to 1400. I know I shouldn’t share it but Laura if you're interested contact me."

LOL. :D

Perfect for cheating on his wives!

Yeah but milkmen have no time. People want their milk for their cereals and coffee.

Betfair Exchange now increasing chance of Conservative Majority in the past half hour.

No Overall Majority beginning to slip away slowly.

Something seems to be happening. Stayed steady most of the day until very recently. Still 2hrs to go. Exciting times.

Imagine if the Polls & Betting companies have had it completely wrong the whole time.....

Hopefully the polls will be as accurate as the IAC final. Andy was 1/11 to win and came 2nd

Hope Not Fear

Just been and voted - Labour. Don't really have much in common with Corbyn, but at least the party has some of the right ideas (and plenty of wrong ones too). Just anything to stop Bojo and his merry band of muppets getting in to office with a majority please.

You mean like the 2016 Referendum?

Sky News Australia saying that they've heard that Boris is in real trouble. Total collapse in the Lib-Dem vote may let Labour take Uxbridge & South Ruislip.

Banter era of politics well and truly in full force.

There's a push on social media for everyone still eligible to vote in Boris' consituency to visit to vote him out.

I really hope history is made tonight regarding him losing his seat.

Honestly he was absolutely idiotic (shock) to not move to a safer seat - not that it matters because even if he does lose the seat he'll just be temporarily appointed to the Lords and then parachuted into a safe seat where a Tory MP 'conveniently' decides to resign after only a few days, but like...

Twitter saying the BBC is now sending Andrew Marr to Boris's count tonight in a last minute change of plan. Could this be the story of the night, week, month, year, decade?

Should have sent Andrew Neil.

BBC, ITV and Sky will all take Boris's declaration live but will be 3-4am.

I sincerely hope if the Tories win that he hasn't lost his seat. He doesn't deserve that.

You’re right... he deserves much worse

Lord Johnson of Uxbridge would be good.... :P

I hope they lose and that he loses his deta. It will be an immediate leaderdhip contest.

No he'd be made a Lord and then some poor newly-elected Tory MP in a safe-seat would stand down through "illness" voluntarily and trigger a by-election.
