Christmas is my favourite time of year so I'm happy to make it last as long as possible. Already played this a couple of times *.* not sure why people are so extra about people playing Christmas songs earlier than December...!

I would honestly be glad to never hear this song again, and I'm at the point now where hearing the opening bars fills me with a sense of impending doom. I used to love it as well.

For me it depends. Sometimes if I'm in the mood for it earlier than usual I'll play Christmas music but generally to save being absolutely drained by the overexposure of it all perhaps 25th of Nov would be OK as it's just a month by that point and not almost 2 instead ie Nov 1? I'm yet to hear Mariah and I'm not rushing to hear it yet as much as it's fab.

I generally hold off until December 1st before I play christmas songs myself but I don't be bothered if I hear them randomly before then.

I mean, yeh it's overplayed but I'd still take this on any night out over hearing Sweet Caroline or Mr Brightside for the 100000x time.

I wouldn't say I'm extra about it really, just don't particularly care for Christmas songs due to their onslaught in recent years and having them shoved down our throats for two months.

 

It's great that Christmas is your favourite time.of the year and enjoy it but for many it's a very difficult time and hearing songs/having so much enforced upon you is why people don't like hearing them so often.

Oh that's fair enough! It wasn't targeted at you at all (or anyone specifically), just a lot of people I know seem to be aghast at the thought of anyone getting even a tiny bit Christmassy before 1st Dec. For me, I start the hype in November and dial it up in December :lol:

I usually wait to play them until December because for me personally 2 months would be overkill, though fair play to anyone in the Christmas spirit already!

 

Somehow I just don’t tire of All I Want for Christmas Is You. It’s certainly the case that in the past 4 or 5 years Mariah herself has leaned very heavily into pushing it and establishing herself as “the Queen of Christmas”, whereas prior to that she mostly just let the song do its own thing. I can appreciate people getting tired of it. I still find it so joyful though. :wub:

I’m the same as Joseph, I let the classic be heard when I hear them on tv and radio or out at bars in December and I hear them enough with that but try to fill my own playlist with lesser known gems and new songs released that could become classics. So try and get the balance!

It’s definitely a case of you do you. I personally love Christmas but I can’t get into it this early, there’s too much happening before then! I kind of like Christmas building up as well but really for me it’s all about the time off, food and parties these days and I don’t get any of that until December usually.

 

I do remember being in a night club on June 25th 2007 and the DJ announcing it was 6 months to Christmas and then playing a Mariah/Wizzard/Slade/Pogues medley and it went off. You can enjoy them any time if you’re pissed.

I love Christmas songs-but not on November 1st. Seriously it’s way too early.

Honestly most of my Christmas playlist isn't made up of the classics, this track is something of an outlier in my taste of Christmas songs! I like other Christmas chart regulars like Step Into Christmas, One More Sleep, Mistletoe, etc but a lot of lesser known tracks make up the bulk of my playlist.

Nov 1st is ay ok with me, gave my Xmas Spotify playlist a spin earlier. No Mariah but no rush with her.
