November 16, 200618 yr Shayne Ward has been "doing a Gareth" I'm really at a loss as to why you find the need to keep doing this Suggy. This discussion as far as I understand was a question about where Shayne is at the moment. Well as far as I am aware, he has been performing in SA for the past few weeks along with Will and Ronan, amongst others. So why the need to mention Gareth, as he certainly wasn't there. He is busy at the moment with his own very charitable work and objectives to help those on The McGuire Program. As I understand it both Shayne and Ronan have been very well received in SA by the public and the Media, for their likeability and their contributions to the Charity concerts and I think its very churlish for anyone to make light of what they have been doing. I'm sure you know better than I what's been reported about Will and whereas his vocals obviously have not been in question, I do believe other factors have. At least as far as the SA reports I have received through Google would suggest. Although I'm sure you will have a different slant on what has been happening. Incidentally since Gareth has been brought into this discussion, once again, please anyone interested keep a watch out for Gareth's Documentary on ITV in the very near future. Its apparently going to be showing clips of some of his new music

Your right he has gone down really well at the concerts. Nice to read he's been in fine voice. He's very much flavour of the month in SA having just been promoting there & scoring a number one album. He's in every teen mag & the young girls love him. He received a gold disc for his sales (25k) as did Will. Lets just hope for his sake that putting establishing his home career on the back burner, to be successful in much less lucrative markets doesn't prove detrimental to his career. Kelly wrote: His album is closing in on the half a million mark, and isn't 500k roughly what Will Young sold with From Now On? Not quite the same. :P FNO 847,836 Shayne Ward 452k Edited November 16, 200618 yr by truly talented
November 16, 200618 yr Val, the only reason I posted that Shayne was "doing a Gareth" is the fact that during the months that Shayne has been out of the UK, he has been doing exactly that. A few months after winning a talent show he's been to Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Sweden, Hong Kong, Australia, Norway, exactly the same career path that Gareth followed, it wasn't mean't to be taken in a derogatory way, I used it as a comparison, but I can understand you taking it the wrong way, especially when I posted that I think he's neglected his UK fans, which I think both of them did. Sorry if you took offence but that's the way I see it.
November 16, 200618 yr A few months after Actually Gareth did not go to promote in Europe or Asia until after a whole year here in UK< and when he was already doing really well in said places without setting foot on those countries. And I dont feel neglected either, because when he promoted abroad in 2003, he also still released here in UK. In 2004 he had his fantastic solo tour here in UK, which he then taken to some Asian countries. And after that he stopped, the reason we might find out in the program to be shown before x-mas. :D
November 16, 200618 yr The last I heard Shayne was in L.A. recording Justin Timberlake style tracks thats a bit impossible though as Justin dosn't do ballads after ballads
November 16, 200618 yr I used it as a comparison, but I can understand you taking it the wrong way, especially when I posted that I think he's neglected his UK fans, which I think both of them did. Sorry if you took offence but that's the way I see it. That makes it even worse Suggy, that you could even think that Gareth neglected his UK fans. In no way did Gareth neglect any of us fans and I doubt you'd find many, if any, of his fans that think that. Gareth worked non stop for two years with no break at all. Then during the time he's been away he's tried as much as possible to give us personal messages, he's involved his fans on a few occasions so they were able to travel to see him and he's been really accommodating on every occasion someone has happened upon him. I think you would be very hard pressed to find an artist who has more time for his fans than Gareth has. So neglected, No, I don't think so. If he hadn't taken the break he has when he did, I dread to think what kind of state his health would have been in by now, given the hecticness of those first two years. Even Will took about 9 months out in that first crazy backlash didn't he. So rather than feeling neglected, I'm pleased that he's done things the way he has over the last two years. He'll come back now refreshed and with a totally different approach to his career. And I also don't think Shayne is `doing a Gareth' as you put it. Shayne is doing what he thinks is best for him, just as Will has done, and just as Gareth has done for the past 5 years. So please can we stop all these comparison's and treat each one of them as their own person.
November 16, 200618 yr Try not to take it too personally Val. There are a few people who get a bit prickly when it comes to how well Gareth did in the international charts in comparison, and they try to compensate by demeaning its value. It must be extra galling for them if Shayne is also beginning to create a fan-base for himself in countries that didn't watch X Factor, although it has to be said that South Africa gets X Factor as it got Pop Idol, so maybe that is not the best country for that kind of comparison. I'm sure they'll change their tune if the situation changes. They recently changed their minds about pop stars who branch out into the theatre! But back to Shayne. The rumoured Christmas single simply didn't happen. Was it ever likely to happen, or was this just something to keep the papers interested? If Shayne was ever thinking of releasing the songs he was supposed to be releasing, then the reports of him recording something more contemporary must have been made up. It's so hard to tell if any of it is true when he has Louis Walsh as his manager.
November 17, 200618 yr Try not to take it too personally Val I'm not taking it personally Nosey. I'm just so fed up of all the comparisons. Just think its time everyone moved on ;) Is this going to happen every year when there is a new winner from one of these shows
November 17, 200618 yr A shame. I thought Shayne had SO much potential. nvm. At least we're pretty much guaranteed to get the next Will Young, in the form of the beautiful Leona Lewis! :D
May 11, 200718 yr When is he back... He looks like a fat version of justin timberlake.. both are hot.. although justin is starting to lose it
May 11, 200718 yr Well we know Caroline has been banned, AGAIN. :( That's "Knocked Out" incase some of you missed it, also "If Looks Could Kill" and "I Hate Sandi Thom Forever". Blah. legend.
May 12, 200718 yr I don't care tbh. I know 'No Promises' is a cover version but I really did like that song - only thing of worth he's actually done. I despise the X Factor I really do. I wish they'd all burn or at least break free of Cowell's 'balladarama factory' and produce something listenable. :manson:

May 12, 200718 yr Max Martin wrote the first single on the new album. Should be interesting I notice you promote his material on Popjustice too. I've always wanted to ask if you're a member of his team or something, or do you work in the studios or for his label?
May 12, 200718 yr See this is what happens when they push the next big star and over-exaggerate potential, when actually he was totally average. 3 lame R&B snooze songs in, and hes disappeared! *Waits for Leona to follow in his not-so desirable footsteps*

May 12, 200718 yr Also promotes on UKMIX and Haven. You don't think it could be Louis Walsh in disguise do you?
May 13, 200718 yr Awuski works at one of Simon Cowell's favourite studios in Sweden and if I remember correctly, wrote Shayne's last single and a number of others, so knows more than most members here, so I wouldn't be too quick to scoff. Then again, I also remember him insisting that he knew for a fact that Mark from Westlife was definitely very heterosexual. Edited May 13, 200718 yr by Nosey
