Tracy Chapman is such a talent, deserved to be much higher... her debut album is a masterpiece, still to this day remember the words to all the songs and can sing any random track...

 

it saddens me she only got 1 hit (Fast Car) and even that was outpeaked by one of the worst covers in the history of music (Jonas Blue)

 

and to make things even worst, a cover of Baby Can I Hold You (which flopped for Tracy) was a huge hit for Boyzone who did another awful awful cover :/

 

there is no justice in the music world :/

^Also in the US, well in the UK Damn I Wish I was your Lover was her first hit and peaked at #14 (#5 in the US)... Right Beside You was the lead of her 2nd album and peaked at #13 but underperformed in the US, where As I Lay Me Down was a big hit (#6) as the 3rd single from her 2nd album, but only peaked at #24 in the UK.

I would certainly recommend Sophie B Hawkins' third album 'Timbre' from 1999 even though there are no hit singles on it. There are some great songs on there.
