I'll say they were smart to quit when they were conceiveably still ahead (though the truth is that their fortunes had already started fading significantly).

With that said, is there really enough nostalgia for them to tour? They feel more like a Atomic Kitten-esque group in that they were arguably successful, but there's no real fondness for them that would drive a major tour/comeback?

I feel like the demand is being hugely underestimated on here, my social media has been crazy with excitement!
Maybe. I do think One Direction coming so soon after them made their success probably feel a lot smaller than it actually was.

To me it doesn’t feel like much time has passed since they were active (the fact it’s been over 6 years... where did that time go?) but yeah, nostalgia for JLS hasn’t kicked in for me at this point. My reaction was a bit *shrug* when I saw the email!

I did like them at the time, but that was mostly confined to the singles. Their albums were very patchy.

Hopefully their ardent fans are here for this & enjoy the tour! I’ll be interested to see if this reunion leads to new music and them sticking around like Westlife.

I definitely think the fans will be there for them, the response has been really positive since the announcement last night. Marvin said on Capital this morning that nothing's in place yet re: new material, but I guess it's more sensible really for them to test the waters this way with a tour first.

It does make me wonder though what a new single from them could sound like in 2020. Especially because there's no one really comparable around now that's doing the same sort of thing they were.

They literally look like 4 friends at a school reunion 10 years after graduation getting together for the first time in forever. And all of them know it’s just a temporary journey down the memory lane.

And that's how you deliver a comeback announcement, ladies and gentlemen. Awesome!

Both Westlife and Steps have had successful comebacks recently and they had much longer career breaks than JLS. I’m not a fan of JLS but I expect there will be some demand for them to fill the void in relation to male pop groups at the current time.

Please we need a The Saturdays reunion!!!

They should of announced a comeback and jumped on the JLS tour!

No one needs that tbh.

That would have worked well for both.

Tickets aren't even on sale yet (pre-sale is tomorrow, I've just had my e-mail code) and they've added a second O2 show on 3rd December in London! I'm toying whether to go to that or the 1st date. Crazy to think that was the last time I saw a tour of theirs.

They are also on This Morning on Friday...

I don't like many of JLS' songs much but 'Eyes Wide Shut' is easily my favourite of their songs, great tune and I like the Clubland-type synths in it. I suppose 'She Makes Me Wanna' is listenable enough although for me it pales in comparison to 'Eyes Wide Shut'. I'm not a fan of 'Everybody In Love'.
