This was certainly quite the surprise for me, but I'm not voting for this anywhere near as long as I thought as we lose what is one of their biggest hits sales-wise and yet another loss for A Head Full of Dreams leaving just one representation from that album here. This was the second single and featured uncredited (she's completely discreet in the song and the video of course and doesn't try to hog her limited time at all :kink:) vocals from Beyonce, which probably helped in making it a huge hit both here and worldwide, though it's success in the US can be attributed to the Seeb remix. The Bollywood influenced video filmed in India is their most viewed on YouTube with over 1 billion hits. Not bad for a song originally written about getting pissed out of your head. I should say my opinion of this is a little biased as it was massively overplayed at the time and I got really sick of it, but even without that, it's watered down, sellout pop Coldplay and that is not what I'm here for (I hear no guitars in this), at least Princess of China did something a bit different despite the huge star as the feature.

Switching to 'Orphans' now, almost entirely just because it hasn't had enough time to establish itself (although I think in the long run it might end up staying my least favourite of the remaining songs anyway, or perhaps 2nd from last ahead of 'Princess Of China').

I was rather surprised that went so early, but I'm glad, though it makes the list more and more difficult to pick from. Going for Orphans as it obviously hasn't had the time to become a real favourite, and I'm not actually sure it's my favourite from Everyday Life (that would be Daddy )
Glad to see Hymn For The Weekend leave so early! Going for Orphans now.
poor Hymn for the Weekend, how can you all say it's watered-down Coldplay but don't have an issue with Every Teardrop :D

'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' I guess falls under the same umbrella of 'watered down' / 'sellout pop' moments from them but I think it's probably the best of them (I liked 'Paradise' more at the time, spent like 10 weeks at #1 on my personal chart, but I think ETIAW has aged better and 'Paradise' isn't as high up my all-time favourites as I initially thought it'd be). Just hits a really joyful euphoric note that their other songs in the same vein don't quite do as well, as much as I still enjoy them. Each to their own tho ~~

Voted ‘Orphans’. As much as I like it, I don’t think it stands up as a classic and will probably get forgotten about rather quickly.
This is all so unpredictable, a landslide lead for a song that had 0 votes last round
