350 Tiësto & Oliver Heldens – The Right Song (feat. Natalie La Rose) Not sure whether I prefer the original or this version but glad it made the Top 40 either way

347 Arle – Close To You (Icarus Edit)

346 Sidney Samson – Riverside (Let's Go!) (feat. Wizard Sleeve)

344 Mason – Fashion Killa (papapapa) (feat. Stefflon Don) I was obsessed with this in BJSC, such an earworm!

338 Kiesza – Giant In My Heart

332 Faul & Wad Ad vs. Pnau – Changes

325 Martin Solveig & Dragonette – Hello

322 Calvin Harris – Drinking From the Bottle (feat. Tinie Tempah) One of many brilliant dance/rap combos from the start of the year, this one hasn't aged as well for me as some of the others but still a great track

321 Milk & Sugar vs. Vaya Con Dios – Hey (Nah Neh Nah)

318 M83 – Midnight City

317 Droideka – Get Hyper

316 Lost Frequencies – Are You With Me

309 Alan Walker – Darkside (feat. Au/Ra and Tomine Harket)

306 AlunaGeorge – Mean What I Mean (feat. Leikeli47 & Dreezy) I think this might be AlunaGeorge's only charting song for me! It's not their best but more based on how my personal chart fell

303 Tchami – Promesses (feat. Kaleem Taylor)

300 Shakin' Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone 993,400

18/12/2015 – released 1985

39-28-x-33-9-6-x-30-17-10-x-21-12-18-16-x-50-29-14-x

Yep we still have a good few Christmas songs left, this is one that never gets old so could potentially be just as high next decade.

299 Otto Knows – Million Voices 994,300

20/08/2012

47-25-32-4-4-18-18-11-9-6-7-7-11-22-25-21-28-40-46-46-x

The Avicii collab came close, but Otto was never quite able to beat the quality of this.

298 Band Aid – Do They Know It's Christmas? 995,800

29/11/2010 – released 1984

35-22-29-42-28-45-x-26-32-46-x-32-x-50-36-x-40-47-x-12-17-x-48-21-x-25-14-13-15-x-42-34-x

Another Christmas classique, unluckily it never made the top 10 and I don't think it will now as it's gone down a bit in my rankings (having only made #34 last Christmas).

297 CLiQ – Clap Clap 997,000

20/07/2018

17-5-6-6-5-9-10-14-22-24-30-30-30-38-40-46-50-x

Easily their 2nd best track.

296 Sub Focus – Endorphins (feat. Alex Clare) 998,300

25/03/2013

18-19-9-12-18-16-6-8-3-6-8-21-42-x-32-x-33-32-x

Sub Focus' #1 song here, sadly a bit forgotten in general now

295 Angelika Vee – Coco Jamboo (Calippo Remix Edit) 999,900

21/07/2017

47-x-50-41-45-41-47-50-x

A very unlucky top 40 miss!

294 Futurecode & Roxanne Emery – Dancing In The Rain 1,002,200

12/04/2019

3-3-6-9-13-18-21-19-21-30-35-33-33-30-30-30-39-38-46-x

Futurecode's top entry, and we're now into the millionaires!

293 Nicole Scherzinger – Wet 1,003,200

29/08/2011

33-6-11-7-2-6-9-16-17-17-17-23-29-40-50-x

First of two for her.

292 Lady Gaga – Scheiße 1,007,800

30/05/2011

9-7-8-14-11-18-34-44-48-48-x-16-12-20-15-7-22-36-x

I was convinced this was going to get a proper single push. :(

291 Mat Zo & Porter Robinson – Easy 1,007,900

07/01/2013

35-11-18-18-20-25-41-x-34-23-15-11-12-21-x

Mat Zo's sole entry, although mostly helped by it following 'Language' for Porter (and that one is still to come).

290 Camila Cabello – Havana (feat. Young Thug) 1,008,100

01/09/2017

39-30-24-19-21-24-16-17-18-13-11-15-19-20-27-32-46-x-31-34-39-x

Camila's only entry without 5H, and giving us the odd statistic of Young Thug who I otherwise don't enjoy getting a millionaire (he's alright in this though).

289 Sigala – Just Got Paid (feat. Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor & French Montana) 1,009,600

14/09/2018

9-7-8-7-7-8-8-10-13-12-17-15-39-48-x-34-38-39-45-48-x

One of three millionaires for Sigala, though hopefully Wish You Well can also join the list in time.

288 KDA – Just Say (feat. Tinashe) 1,009,700

29/07/2016

43-29-24-24-20-35-x-35-39-x

Easily KDA's best song, and Tinashe's too.

287 DJ Khaled – I'm the One (feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper & Lil Wayne) 1,009,900

05/05/2017

2-2-3-4-5-6-6-10-11-17-17-18-23-28-37-44-43-x

The top track for DJ KHALED and everyone else involved, surprised it did this well actually but what can I say it's a bit of a tune.

286 Galantis – No Money 1,011,700

08/04/2016

21-10-9-7-4-3-3-4-8-22-43-44-38-41-x-49-x

Galantis' top track.

285 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Can't Hold Us (feat. Ray Dalton) 1,014,700

25/03/2013

33-21-4-2-5-24-34-25-x-38-22-19-12-21-23-19-39-49-x

First of three for Macklemore.

284 Katy Perry – Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J) 1,014,900

04/11/2013

18-36-x-25-24-38-x-5-14-19-25-16-11-13-15-16-30-42-x

Katy's 3rd-highest track.

283 TheFatRat & JJD – Prelude (VIP Edit) 1,015,700

25/11/2016

49-x-47-50-x-40-6-5-4-5-5-8-11-12-16-17-27-43-44-43-35-34-37-45-x

First of five millionaires for TheFatRat, and JJD also has a track to come.

282 Fuse ODG – Antenna 1,019,400

06/05/2013

5-14-6-2-4-3-4-11-24-25-29-28-34-33-25-25-28-44-x

Top track for Fuse.

281 Avicii – The Nights (Avicii By Avicii/Original) (feat. Ras) 1,021,000

12/01/2015

39-3-3-9-12-18-20-39-x-36-x

Avicii has 20 millionaires and this is the first of those. I am of the odd opinion that the rework is better than the original, though both are great.

280 Martin Garrix – In the Name of Love (feat. Bebe Rexha) 1,021,300

05/08/2016

7-5-4-4-8-8-9-11-11-19-21-13-17-27-43-49-x

The 2nd-highest track for Martin behind the obvious.

279 Late Night Alumni – Empty Streets (Lumïsade Balearic Mix) 1,022,200

15/02/2019

44-x-35-33-29-17-19-23-28-29-37-38-x-48-49-50-x-48-18-39-x-50-x

One of the decade's biggest one hit wonders for this progressive trance track, early I know but I can't see LNA having any more impact beyond this.

278 Icarus – King Kong 1,023,700

17/03/2017

18-24-18-15-16-17-16-18-13-19-22-24-29-39-44-46-x

The top track for house act Icarus although we have a song titled Icarus still to appear.

277 James Hype – More Than Friends (feat. Kelli-Leigh) 1,024,200

21/07/2017

49-33-30-32-28-17-14-16-18-24-31-41-47-50-50-x

James Hype's breakthrough smash and still easily his best track.

276 Alexandra Burke – Elephant (feat. Erick Morillo) 1,024,300

16/01/2012

25-33-37-x-2-5-4-2-4-10-23-23-31-x

The only appearance for Alexandra Burke who brought to England the phrase 'elephant in the room'. It may've been the beginning of the end for her pop music career but it was easily my fave song of hers.

Recap:

Proper anthem from the former SHM member, one of two solo appearances for him.

270 Zhu – Faded 1,036,800

9-5-3-8-11-17-11-11-18-18-8-8-12-16-34-x-49-x

26/05/2017

38-12-15-17-21-21-29-32-40-38-42-47-x-38-26-23-25-33-x

Katy's top entry here as a lead helped by its catchy dance beat of course.

268 The Pretenders – 2000 Miles 1,037,200

23/12/2016 – released 1983

18-19-x-27-12-x-31-28-22-17-x-40-21-13-x

A Christmas track that doesn't get as much love as it really should in the charts these days.

267 Jess Glynne – Hold My Hand 1,043,500

23/02/2015

35-x-47-48-29-12-8-11-6-10-10-10-14-25-27-24-35-x

265 Starley – Call On Me (Ryan Riback Remix) 1,045,400

04/11/2017

46-35-41-44-44-46-x-18-17-12-11-9-12-15-20-23-47-x

A one hit wonder in my chart as well as the official chart.

264 Felix Jaehn – Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) (feat. Jasmine Thompson) 1,046,700

18/05/2015

1-2-7-10-8-8-8-8-15-21-27-30-36-44-47-48-x

One of the highlights of the tropical house trend.

29/09/2013

2-7-37-x-32-34-x-44-x-41-5-14-49-x-20-12-x-9-25-36-44-x

One of his absolute best non-singles. Of course I had to send it to BJSC for the anniversary entry.

262 Calvin Harris – I'm Not Alone (CamelPhat Remix/Original) 1,049,300

12/04/2019 – original released 2009

4-4-3-5-9-15-25-39-35-50-50-x

It's about half and half for the two versions, both are great.

261 Darude – Sandstorm 1,050,000

released 2000

DNC

Yes really this beats his actual charting hits of the decade, one of my fave dance classics this is.

260 Dua Lipa – New Rules 1,050,300

28/07/2017

48-35-27-20-16-17-18-20-26-25-33-33-34-37-42-41-44-45-x-50-x

Dua Lipa's 3rd-highest here, although easily her best non-dance track.

259 Freejak & Safety First – Closer Than Close (feat. BB Diamond) 1,053,900

01/09/2017

50-27-15-10-10-11-11-11-12-12-10-13-14-15-25-31-x-42-45-47-x

Great housey update of a 90s song that I wasn't very familiar with.

258 Emma Hewitt – Colours 1,054,800

13/02/2012

8-13-8-1-2-7-12-13-17-41-x

Lovely atmospheric downtempo track, not what I usually go for but it's great.

257 Arty – Perfect Strangers 1,054,900

05/10/2018

38-41-44-42-32-24-8-6-8-16-29-x-28-29-33-28-24-25-24-27-31-29-31-33-48-x

The highest track here for Arty.

256 Loud Luxury – Body (feat. brando) 1,059,000

01/06/2018

41-41-50-x-46-32-19-21-18-16-16-12-10-11-22-25-28-38-42-x

They weren't quite a one hit wonder in my chart, but this is their only track in the rundown.

255 Little Mix – Cannonball 1,062,300

19/12/2011

1-1-8-10-32-x

I proper spammed this in the first 2 weeks, hence the rather high position for it now though it's not one I rate too highly now.

254 Pep & Rash – Red Roses 1,064,000

18/05/2015

8-4-3-3-4-2-2-5-7-9-15-19-23-27-39-31-46-45-x

The forgotten follow-up to 'Rumors' which was surprisingly more than half-as-good.

253 Andrew Rayel – Horizon (feat. Lola Blanc) 1,065,700

09/03/2018

35-13-10-8-5-7-8-16-7-7-10-11-11-12-17-23-29-36-39-x

The only appearance here for trance DJ Andrew Rayel, this also being a BJSC entry for me.

252 Sia – Chandelier 1,065,900

07/07/2014

9-18-x-50-38-40-27-37-38-42-x-39-44-x

Sia's 2nd-highest appearance behind the obvious. An undeniably standout pop song, deserved a better chart run from me than it got but has the plays to make up for it.

251 Ten Walls – Walking With Elephants 1,067,300

05/05/2014

15-30-10-15-27-x-40-32-38-28-5-9-14-22-10-8-14-34-36-43-47-x

Spotify playlist

250 Kungs – Don't You Know (feat. Jamie N Commons) 1,067,400

15/07/2016

48-38-x-30-27-14-12-5-2-3-5-10-28-39-39-33-37-47-43-x

Managing to ride off the coat-tails of his mammoth hit for one more track in my chart, this still sounds great now though, big shame he never released anything else this good.

249 Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand 1,067,600

20/09/2010

9-6-2-5-1-1-2-3-6-5-4-13-18-17-18-23-22-32-34-41-48-49-45-38-41-47-x

Duck Sauce may be back now but they'll never ever come close to beating this for me, one of my top faves from 2010.

248 Major Lazer – Lean On (feat. MØ & DJ Snake) 1,067,800

06/04/2015

35-6-5-2-2-4-6-15-20-23-28-30-32-28-x

Easily the best Major Lazer track and also the one that was rewarded by being their biggest hit worldwide. Same goes for DJ Snake.

247 Philip George – Wish You Were Mine 1,068,300

05/01/2015

18-10-4-6-12-23-30-29-x-44-x

The debut hit for Philip George and one he'd never end up bettering.

246 B-15 Project – Girls Like Us (Deeptrak Remix) (feat. Crissy D) 1,068,700

10/03/2017

30-19-25-20-20-19-23-34-39-37-41-x

An obscure remix of a forgotten early 00s top 10 hit, this vastly improves it giving it the house treatment anyhow.

245 Icona Pop – I Love It (feat. Charli XCX) 1,076,500

11/06/2012

30-20-48-x-7-4-14-14-9-5-9-11-7-25-18-14-17-21-25-30-27-x

Icona Pop's top appearance with a song that would make them a one hit wonder in my chart until randomly guesting on a dance hit a few months ago.

244 Florence + The Machine – Spectrum (Say My Name) (Calvin Harris Remix) 1,076,900

09/07/2012

33-3-1-2-2-10-8-26-14-18-25-25-36-42-x

One of two Florence appearances and surprise surprise they're her Calvin Harris songs.

243 WHTKD – Say To Me 1,077,500

06/01/2017

28-7-5-4-4-6-7-8-10-12-13-23-30-26-27-31-36-41-x

A rando dance producer who only ever had one notable song but a great one it is.

242 Ella Henderson – Ghost (Oliver Nelson Remix/Original) 1,079,800

05/05/2014

17-3-1-4-8-10-12-25-31-35-47-x

The top appearance for Ella, though mostly due to 'This Is Real' coming out late last year. Oliver Nelson gave it a nu disco remix which I prefer although the original is great too.

241 Khalid & Disclosure – Talk 1,080,200

15/02/2019

4-4-3-4-5-6-6-3-7-9-11-13-17-30-30-41-39-48-47-x

Khalid can stay if he's going to keep giving Disclosure hits tbh. This is his first of 2 appearances, and the 3rd highest for Disclosure.

240 Calvin Harris – Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch) 1,081,400

22/10/2012

8-16-2-9-20-16-13-17-17-23-19-15-33-35-48-x

And the other Florence/Calvin song is just 4 places ahead, which basically means they're as great as each other.

239 Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Garden 1,084,100

14/11/2011

34-5-2-2-6-3-7-11-16-34-50-x

Just me who remembers this song being on an advert probably, but it was a great discovery.

238 DVBBS & Borgeous – Tsunami 1,085,900

02/09/2013

13-16-42-48-47-12-2-5-16-20-13-19-19-11-25-33-35-38-36-x

Both of these went rapidly downhill soon after (and many suspect they didn't even produce it) but what a banger this is.

237 Marshmello – Alone 1,087,600

19/08/2016

32-28-10-9-8-14-16-21-26-23-14-13-18-21-28-30-38-x-50-x

Easily my fave Marshmello song and as it turns out the fave of YouTube viewers also - 1.6bn!!

236 AlunaGeorge – I Remember 1,088,600

22/04/2016

31-37-30-27-12-15-17-13-10-12-9-10-12-13-12-15-17-28-36-27-40-x-49-x

An underrated track of theirs, and their 2nd highest here.

235 Chris Malinchak – So Good to Me 1,093,000

25/03/2013

20-17-10-17-19-28-18-7-14-31-25-26-36-44-49-41-38-35-x-44-x

Chris' top track isn't either of his 2 #1s but this one which was of course his one proper chart hit.

234 Dr. Kucho! & Gregor Salto – Can't Stop Playing (Oliver Heldens Mix) (feat. Ane Brun) 1,094,400

12/01/2015

13-10-33-27-33-46-43-49-x-27-8-6-7-11-22-46-x

The original of this was on a dance compilation I had way back in the day so it getting remixed, and subsequently getting a new vocal and becoming a hit was rather random, but it's certainly improved by it all.

233 will.i.am – Scream & Shout (feat. Britney Spears) 1,098,100

17/12/2012

9-2-1-1-1-9-6-12-30-47-x-42-x

Last 2 appearances from will.i.am here are both in this section, this one was good fun anyhow.

232 Fatum – Mowgli 1,098,100

06/07/2018

49-x-44-44-4-1-1-4-4-6-11-14-15-17-16-17-17-23-27-33-39-38-x

A random trance instrumental now, and one I also sent to BJSC. Certainly stood out in its field.

231 Skrillex – Bangarang (feat. Sirah) 1,101,700

02/04/2012

5-22-17-36-44-44-x-30-34-49-x-36-33-24-21-24-25-25-23-32-13-37-43-48-x

The moment Skrillex went full into the mainstream and I loved it.

230 Felix Jaehn – Bonfire (feat. ALMA) 1,102,400

05/08/2016

47-38-15-6-6-7-4-4-7-12-17-19-24-28-29-30-35-38-40-x

It's not 'Ain't Nobody' but this track which is Felix's highest here aside from a certain remix he did, this one certainly deserved more attention.

229 Charli XCX – 3am (Pull Up) (feat. MØ) 1,102,400

31/03/2017

22-21-22-22-18-16-23-31-24-25-30-32-36-43-x

A seemingly random Charli XCX track which I found off someone playing it on plug then it ended up outdoing all of her actual singles in my chart.

228 will.i.am – T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) (feat. Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez) 1,105,500

17/10/2011

1-1-3-10-27-x-42-x-32-x-42-40-40-25-17-37-18-12-23-25-32-42-41-36-42-44-47-x

And yes this is will.I.am's top appearance, lol.

227 TheFatRat – Monody (feat. Laura Brehm) 1,106,700

20/11/2015

21-20-20-25-12-26-24-4-7-8-10-6-7-17-27-31-38-40-x

The moment I started to properly take notice of TheFatRat and ever since he's been one of my top faves, what a great track this is - and it got me my first BJSC medal (3rd)!

226 Avicii – SOS (feat. Aloe Blacc) 1,107,400

12/04/2019

1-1-1-1-3-4-2-2-2-3-3-3-3-4-5-5-10-13-19-28-43-x

The great lead track off 'Tim', although his 2 other album leads (Wake Me Up, Waiting For Love) will be appearing much much later on.

Thermo's hot hits | #201-225 | EOD 2010-2019

Spotify playlist

225 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig present Europa – All Day And Night (with Madison Beer) 1,107,900

05/04/2019

4-8-8-9-11-14-25-13-10-6-17-17-18-13-13-15-15-16-20-29-31-30-32-38-x

A great banger from the Europa project (and still their only song), it was two places behind 'SOS' for the EOY but manages to be a place ahead for the EOD after December being taken into account.

224 Maceo Plex – Mirror Me (feat. C.A.R.) 1,109,600

26/02/2016

11-3-3-4-5-1-1-1-1-1-3-4-8-10-14-16-19-18-22-23-22-22-37-x

A one-hit wonder in my chart, as this is a bit different to his more usual stuff that I'm not a fan of - this was also a BJSC entry of mine.

223 Swedish House Mafia – Miami 2 Ibiza (feat. Tinie Tempah) 1,109,900

30/08/2010

39-44-16-11-18-13-4-2-2-3-6-10-8-6-9-20-27-36-25-26-33-46-x-50-x

The first of 5 SHM entries here - only 'Save The World' out of their six didn't make the countdown.

222 Just Us – Cloudbusting 1,110,600

17/02/2017

2-2-6-2-2-3-2-2-3-4-4-5-9-14-26-34-37-42-47-x

A Kate Bush reworking for this duo who also turned out to be a one hit wonder here.

221 Rita Ora – Anywhere 1,114,200

27/10/2017

6-2-1-1-2-2-2-6-10-22-2-2-2-5-16-16-28-29-36-38-x

Released only a few months after her feature on the massive 'Lonely Together' it helped her get another #1 with this track - her 3rd highest in this rundown as 'Hot Right Now' is also yet to come.

220 Aly & Fila meets Roger Shah & Susana – Unbreakable 1,114,900

16/12/2016

19-39-22-4-2-1-1-1-1-3-3-3-7-12-16-17-35-40-44-48-49-x

Trance duo Aly & Fila's biggest hit in my chart by a long way, and another of my BJSC entries.

219 ALMA – Chasing Highs 1,116,700

26/05/2017

39-31-34-22-23-25-31-27-26-27-21-21-29-34-36-42-42-48-49-x

Just about beating 'Bonfire' to be Alma's highest track in this rundown - despite it having missed the top 20.

218 Swedish House Mafia – One (Your Name) (feat. Pharrell) 1,117,100

30/08/2010

11-24-27-26-31-29-30-34-42-16-46-36-37-42-43-x

Another SHM song now and one that would've peaked a bit higher if I'd have joined Buzzjack earlier but it does well regardless.

217 Patrick Topping – Be Sharp Say Nowt 1,118,900

17/11/2017

9-7-8-10-14-15-x-6-10-12-12-19-17-25-21-16-16-19-19-24-22-29-x

A rare tech house hit in my chart for Patrick Topping who remains a one hit wonder for now.

216 Diplo & Mark Ronson presents Silk City with Dua Lipa – Electricity 1,122,500

14/09/2018

6-5-5-4-6-7-7-6-7-9-10-9-14-27-x-25-23-26-33-35-40-46-x

The top track for both Diplo & Mark Ronson (so of course they put the Silk City project on hiatus following this) and 2nd highest for Dua Lipa.

215 Julio Bashmore – Au Seve 1,133,900

22/10/2012

1-1-1-1-1-3-5-8-5-7-6-8-10-28-x

The breakthrough hit for Julio Bashmore, he'd get one more hit but that doesn't make this rundown.

214 Basto – Gregory's Theme 1,140,400

31/01/2011

38-x-17-15-4-4-7-7-7-8-8-12-19-28-32-45-x

The breakthrough hit for Basto and one that would eventually represent me in BJSC too. One of the best songs Avicii never released..

213 Gareth Emery & Emma Hewitt – Take Everything 1,143,200

04/01/2019

10-8-4-3-3-3-3-2-2-2-2-3-3-6-9-11-17-31-33-31-x

Acting as the comeback for both Gareth and Emma in my chart, Gareth would go on to have a very impressive year. This is his 3rd-highest track in the rundown.

212 Nicole Scherzinger – Right There (feat. 50 Cent) 1,151,000

30/05/2011

10-11-11-12-7-8-8-7-2-2-9-12-24-21-24-30-39-x

The top track for both Nicole and 50 released at the peak of her solo career.

211 Avicii – For A Better Day (feat. Alex Ebert) 1,152,100

04/09/2015

1-2-4-6-6-2-3-10-22-35-43-46-x-27-x

One of Avicii's many #1s from the Stories album it served as the 2nd single and was an unjust official chart flop and also gets too much disdain on Buzzjack!

210 Far East Movement – Like a G6 (feat. Dev & The Cataracs) 1,152,700

20/09/2010

18-3-5-8-7-10-9-9-4-1-1-3-8-14-21-19-19-20-20-28-25-25-27-23-30-31-34-37-35-x-50-50-x

One of the year's big rap hits it was the first for everyone involved. KSHMR of The Cataracs would go on to have another #1 in my chart which is yet to feature in the rundown.

209 John Gibbons – Would I Lie To You 1,153,800

19/08/2016

38-17-20-15-17-16-3-4-4-5-9-8-9-11-17-19-26-x

The first hit for John Gibbons in the UK, although he'd hit my chart once before. It's his 2nd highest appearance here.

208 Rizzle Kicks – Down with the Trumpets 1,155,300

18/07/2011

32-8-8-1-1-2-6-14-19-23-38-48-41-49-44-49-x

The breakthrough hit for Rizzle Kicks which I don't enjoy quite as much as the rest of this section now but it is a fun song.

207 Nelly Furtado – Big Hoops (Bigger the Better) 1,156,100

23/04/2012

4-4-4-3-1-4-21-1-5-6-14-12-30-21-40-39-47-x

Nelly Furtado's big comeback single... but only in my chart as it flopped everywhere else unjustly. She'd never make my chart again afterwards however.

206 Oliver $ & Jimi Jules – Pushing On 1,156,300

28/04/2014

5-3-4-3-6-15-34-x-14-9-7-14-12-17-27-39-44-x

Another one hit wonder dance track now from the peak era for those.

205 Pharrell Williams – Happy 1,158,300

09/12/2013

10-12-7-9-14-9-8-12-36-x-45-41-50-x-42-39-38-x

This tune was undeniable, even if it was one of the absolute biggest of the decade.

204 Drake – God's Plan 1,159,800

26/01/2018

4-7-13-12-7-7-4-6-7-13-14-15-13-x-23-26-25-29-29-36-45-42-x-19-30-48-x

Drake's best solo effort which rewarded him with another big hit officially.

203 Rudimental – These Days (feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen) 1,162,200

26/01/2018

8-10-1-1-1-2-2-3-5-5-6-8-9-40-20-20-20-22-27-30-43-41-50-x

And now for my unpopular opinion that this is indeed better than all their other songs. 4th-highest for Jess.

202 Example – Midnight Run 1,163,300

17/10/2011

28-x-15-6-6-11-16-22-20-15-15-30-45-x

Example had a triplet of absolute great singles, this was the last of those and it finishes the lowest too.

201 Kygo – Happy Now (feat. Sandro Cavazza) 1,167,700

02/11/2018

22-8-4-1-1-1-2-8-x-1-2-3-5-7-8-8-9-9-11-13-14-20-22-29-42-49-x

Kygo's sole #1 in my chart during the decade (he now has a second one in 'Forever Yours'), however he still has 2 more to come.

350 Tiësto & Oliver Heldens – The Right Song (feat. Natalie La Rose) Not sure whether I prefer the original or this version but glad it made the Top 40 either way

344 Mason – Fashion Killa (papapapa) (feat. Stefflon Don) I was obsessed with this in BJSC, such an earworm!

322 Calvin Harris – Drinking From the Bottle (feat. Tinie Tempah) One of many brilliant dance/rap combos from the start of the year, this one hasn't aged as well for me as some of the others but still a great track

306 AlunaGeorge – Mean What I Mean (feat. Leikeli47 & Dreezy) I think this might be AlunaGeorge's only charting song for me! It's not their best but more based on how my personal chart fell

350 - they're both great. I ended up giving more plays to 'the right song' however but they're combined for this chart position.

344 - I discovered it a while before bjsc, passed it up as an entry as I didn't suspect it'd be such a hit

322 - there were quite a few great tracks like those back then.

306 - was the 3rd best of theirs in my chart after I Remember and White Noise

297 CLiQ – Clap Clap The first CLiQ song I was really into, a brilliant summer dance tune

286 Galantis – No Money This missed out on my EOD but I remember it being the first Galantis song I was genuinely excited about on first listen so delighted to see it become one of their biggest hits

282 Fuse ODG – Antenna A brilliant song from Fuse although not as brilliant as Million Pound Girl for me

267 Jess Glynne – Hold My Hand I loved this when it was out, shame it only reminds me of Jet2 adverts now :(

250 Kungs – Don't You Know (feat. Jamie N Commons) Definitely my favourite Kungs song although I know you disagree!

230 Felix Jaehn – Bonfire (feat. ALMA) A really good track and a very worthy introduction to ALMA for me

297 - Wavey is still their absolute best for me

286 - the gp got it right making this and Runaway their big hits

282 - I preferred this one although MPG was the one that was a #1

267 - it's always gonna remind everyone of those ads incl. me

250 - yeah This Girl is wayy better!

230 - yep it was, she had much potential so shame she seemed to waste it with her Chasing Highs follow-ups not being all that great.

thanks ~

Thermo's hot hits | #191-200 | EOD 2010-2019

Spotify playlist

We're now in the business end of the chart so I'll be searching through my EOY threads to recycle my old commentary provide some further commentary.

200 Armin van Buuren – This Is What It Feels Like (feat. Trevor Guthrie) 1,170,000

01/04/2013 [EOY #08, 2013]

16-19-33-13-15-2-1-1-5-6-15-27-26-41-37-20-50-x

What I said:

The production may not be his most exciting, but it's a very good pop song and what makes it are the melodies and the vocals. Ironically, the lyrics are about a heartbreak yet the song is very upbeat - but that doesn't stop it from being a proper tune. It was also this song that led me to check out the rest of the album, so thanks for that Armin. And it was his first UK T40 hit since 2000! Amazing!

Further comment:

It still holds up and is Armin's 2nd highest song in the rundown. Big shame he never ended up getting any further UK hits.

199 Fisher – Losing It 1,174,800

10/08/2018 [EOY #74, 2018 / EOY #59, 2019]

50-20-12-15-18-23-17-12-12-14-15-29-29-30-45-x-40-x-13-9-12-13-13-17-21-29-34-x

What I said:

I hadn't heard of Fisher before but the Australian DJ brought this out which quickly topped the Beatport chart and was apparently the biggest song of Tomorrowland, so I had to check it out and yep, it is brilliant. The bass wobble is something that needs to be a thing in more songs as really makes this infectious, and the accompanying siren with each drop adds to its anthemic appeal too. Overall it's one of those tracks that sound excellently produced despite how repetitive it is, and I'm pleased to see it get Radio 1 and Hot Hits UK support too (and an official top 100 chart position).

Further comment:

Fisher remains a one hit wonder for me so far as he'd only released one song since and I didn't enjoy it that much.

198 Sigala & Ella Eyre – Came Here For Love 1,178,000

16/06/2017 [EOY #40, 2017]

13-15-14-13-11-10-13-14-15-22-29-34-37-39-49-x

What I said:

Sigala had a bit of a quiet year in 2017, other than this song which became his third-biggest hit, impressively for a British dance act he seems to be fairly consistent in getting hits. It's a proper commercial house banger, exactly what we needed in the charts for the summer period, and Ella Eyre's voice is once again put to good use - was nice to hear her do a dance track again after a less-than impressive solo pop career. I do love an upbeat dance track and can only hope that we get more of these in 2018.

Further comment:

We did get more Sigala tunes afterwards though none could quite match it in this rundown. He has one song left to go from early on in his career.

197 Azealia Banks – 212 (feat. Lazy Jay) 1,178,900

12/12/2011 [EOY #29, 2012]

20-24-6-6-5-3-13-27-45-x-43-48-43-36-48-x-37-36-40-49-x

What I said:

Azealia finished 3rd on the Sound of 2012 Poll, and this song proved to us why she deserved to be up there. Rapping over an underground dance beat, Azealia has a great flow and manages to get many quotable lines in. This song is the only in my chart that uses the word "c***" so well done Ms. Banks! Hopefully we see more of her in 2013, but if she turns out to be a one-hit wonder then that's fine too because she's left us with an amazing song that many others could never do in their career.

Further comment:

Well her career ended just about as quickly as it started with her only having one hit, but this remains a tune.

196 Avicii – Broken Arrows (feat. Zac Brown) 1,180,300

02/10/2015 [EOY #16, 2015]

1-1-1-1-3-6-10-9-12-17-15-20-45-22-25-28-x-50-x-20-x

What I said:

Avicii gave us a few teasers of the album just days before its release, and this was one of them - eventually debuting at #1 based on half a week's sales. Like many Avicii songs it's very instant and it's what I come to expect from him. It does sound like an slower Wake Me Up or Waiting For Love but it has enough identity of its own to be quite amazing in itself. Such a shame this didn't get a proper commercial push even though it got a video and single release. :(

Further comment:

Avicii has 16 songs in the top 200 so this is one of the rare occasions in the top 200 where I can say this is not one of the absolute best songs of the artist in question. However it is a really great track that deserved more attention.

195 Nora En Pure – Waves 1,180,400

21/07/2017 [EOY #56, 2017]

43-43-x-48-x-45-49-x-50-49-43-39-29-30-37-48-48-x

What I said:

Nora En Pure has been around for a few years now but only makes her first appearance in the year-end list now, and with two songs. 'Waves' is a mostly instrumental track which is rather groovy and actually uses samples of crashing waves. It ended up being a big sleeper hit in my chart, it isn't the most instant of songs but it really hit me after a load of listens.

Further comment:

It is Nora's 3rd-highest track in the rundown.

194 Passenger – Let Her Go 1,185,700

11/03/2013 [EOY #25, 2013]

17-23-48-49-x-39-40-24-17-7-7-7-6-16-39-39-41-x

What I said:

One of the UK's million sellers of 2013, a beautiful song about losing your loved one. Passenger's unique voice and the lyrics make the song what it is, and even though it has no hints of EDM I still love it. Its overexposure and long stay in the charts have made the song lose some of its 'magic' however.

Further comment:

It's a really lovely song, perhaps a bit out of place this high in the rundown with all the bangers but I still enjoy it.

193 Calvin Harris + Disciples – How Deep Is Your Love (feat. Ina Wroldsen) 1,186,000

24/07/2015 [EOY #09, 2015]

2-6-5-4-4-3-6-9-12-15-16-26-23-29-37-41-x-45-x

What I said:

Calvin came back after having never really left as he often does, this time bringing a deep house banger with the help of Disciples on production. It quickly became one of the defining songs of the summer, debuting whilst I was on holiday too which was great. I'm definitely looking forward to what Calvin does next as this seems like a good first step away from generic songs like 'Summer' and 'Blame' that we don't need another one of.

Further comment:

Like Avicii, Calvin has many songs still to come. This is his 14th-highest although it really deserves to be a bit higher up his own ranking.

192 Dev – Bass Down Low (feat. Tinie Tempah & The Cataracs) 1,189,700

31/01/2011 [EOY #39, 2011]

29-40-x-46-x-6-9-11-8-7-16-16-18-18-19-28-42-43-47-48-x

What I said:

Dev's only entry this year is her follow up to "Like A G6" which samples her own song "Booty Bounce". Debuting at a low #29 when the song was low in the US charts, it re-entered at it's peak when it was remixed to feature my favourite British rapper, Tinie Tempah. He drops a good verse in place of Dev's second verse, which meant we got some of Dev's brilliant rapping and the amazing middle 8. I should also give The Cataracs some credit for the production on this song, it's like no other on the chart and it has a great hip hop feel. I'm impressed that it managed to go top 10 in the UK, before massively falling and Dev becoming less relevant with next single "In The Dark" - which flopped both in my chart and the UK but somehow became a hit in the US.

Further comment:

This is still definitely her best track as a lead performer, and she soon disappeared after this anyway. It shouldn't really be ahead of Like A G6 however but it only is by 18 positions.

191 Tobtok – Aber 1,189,700

15/07/2016 [EOY #21, 2016]

49-32-22-2-2-2-2-2-5-7-8-12-20-22-22-30-33-49-45-x-49-50-x

What I said:

Here's another BJSC entry now and one that I sent, this one unfortunately flopped in its semi-final but finished mid-table in the Rejects. It's a brilliantly made house instrumental that for me is even better than his 'Fast Car' cover, and was unlucky enough to spend five weeks at #2 behind 'This Girl' by Kungs.

Further comment:

He never bettered this.

Recap:

200 Armin van Buuren – This Is What It Feels Like (feat. Trevor Guthrie)

199 Fisher – Losing It

198 Sigala & Ella Eyre – Came Here For Love

197 Azealia Banks – 212 (feat. Lazy Jay)

196 Avicii – Broken Arrows (feat. Zac Brown)

195 Nora En Pure – Waves

194 Passenger – Let Her Go

193 Calvin Harris + Disciples – How Deep Is Your Love (feat. Ina Wroldsen)

192 Dev – Bass Down Low (feat. Tinie Tempah & The Cataracs)

191 Tobtok – Aber

Hey Dan! These are my favourites from that section:

'Losing It' ~ I remember Bray recommending this to me and being disappointed that I didn't really get it! However, something clicked out of nowhere and it soared up my personal chart into the top 5 *.* I don't know what I was thinking before, such an addictive dance track!

'212' ~ What an EXPLOSION from Azealia Banks into the mainstream *.* I remember being really into that and 'Shady Love' (a Scissor Sisters song that she contributed to under a pseudonym) at the same time and thinking she would be someone I could potentially stan... yeah, that didn't quite happen :')

'How Deep Is Your Love' ~ This reminds me of happy memories of clubbing for the first time - the music was clearly on point that night! I wish this had been a #1 single for Calvin as it's one of his absolute best for me.

'Bass Down Low' ~ What a dirty banger this was! Tinie's features have been hit-or-miss for me over the years but I agree that this was a good one.

From the 200-191 section

'This Is What It Feels Like'. A great tune this was from 2013 was a Top 5 hit in my personal chart.

'212'- definitely still a tune this.

'How Deep Is Your Love '- Another stroke of genius from Calvin with this tune. Don't hear it so much now.

190 French Montana – Unforgettable (feat. Swae Lee) 1,190,500

05/05/2017 [EOY #28, 2017]

50-39-30-35-38-41-38-39-41-40-29-27-22-20-20-26-24-28-35-48-x

What I said:

This seemed to rise from nowhere into one of the biggest hits of the year, and at a time when French Montana had seemingly become long forgotten about he made this 'unforgettable' tune. Though it's really Swae Lee who steals the song here with him getting over half of it. His echoey vocals are great though and I really enjoy the vibe of the song. French's rapping is give or take really but he doesn't detract from the song, its great production really sells it though, who doesn't love a bit of steel drums (or whatever that actually is idk), and a f*cking good time never hurt nobody.

Further comment:

Definitely one of the best rap hits we got this decade, no wonder it was such a chart smash. It's the only appearance for Swae Lee and the highest for French of three (although his only appearance as a lead)

189 Nero – Promises 1,194,600

20/06/2011 [EOY #35, 2011]

26-17-17-24-24-22-22-1-4-5-6-10-18-28-30-38-39-41-x

What I said:

Nero's only #1 and their first top 5 hit lands at #35. It took me a few weeks to get used to this song, like most of Nero's hits - but when the album dropped it went up to #1. This is how dubstep should be done to get more commercially popular, unfortunately the public don't really like it - with this song getting to #1 in the UK on fanbase buys and low competition then dropping fast. Nero should do more songs with this vocalist as she's very good.

Further comment:

Well they did but they'd never come close to matching the quality of their peak era. They broke through with three absolute killer singles, and this is the lowest of those with 'Me and You' and 'Guilt' yet to appear.

188 Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji – Pressure (Alesso Remix) 1,195,200

28/11/2011 [EOY #63, 2011]

7-13-2-8-13-14-14-19-35-43-x

What I said:

Nadia Ali with big club hit "Pressure" - she still looks hot and can sing. Of course the great instrumental from Starkillers and Alex Kenji make the song what it is - they didn't give the song a chance in the UK, the song just missing T100 when it got released last month.

Further comment:

What I meant to say was the great remixing from Alesso, I was under the impression at the time this was the original mix for some reason. Another song caught between years too hence the low EOY peak, and I also must've decided to not make it eligible for 2012's list. Nadia Ali still has another track to come.

187 Oliver Heldens – Koala 1,195,300

14/07/2014 [EOY #34, 2014]

42-23-23-27-15-5-4-11-27-x-48-x-17-14-5-15-35-42-x-25-37-x

What I said:

After the amazing Gecko I was excited for more, and he delivered obviously. I love how the two buildups are completely different to each other, both are brilliant. Unfortunately the vocal radio mix cuts out the 2nd one but the extended vocal mix doesn't so I love that too. A real banger of a tune anyway which really shows that Heldens is here to stay.

Further comment:

It's still his 2nd-best song after all this time, with just 'Gecko' left to come in the rundown.

186 Andy Williams – Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season 1,197,100

06/12/2010 – released 1963

25-44-x-37-49-x-35-24-23-x-40-8-10-x-24-7-5-x-19-10-10-6-x-43-38-22-16-x

What I said:

Didn't say anything for this. :P

Further comment:

Being a Christmas song this never made an EOY list (only a few of those have managed to, some that we'll get to later). It's one that's not too known in the UK but it was on the one Christmas compilation we had when I was younger (in place of his more well known song) and was always a fave.

185 Chicane – Gorecki (feat. Hannah Robinson) 1,198,000

01/12/2017 [EOY #15, 2018]

12-8-13-19-23-3-4-3-6-8-7-8-13-13-11-11-13-21-21-27-34-x-25-29-48-x

What I said:

Chicane's highest entry falls here, which is a cover of the Lamb song which I never cared for when it was in BJSC (and subsequently forgot about) but this version really brings out the best parts of the song. The lyrics are beautiful, Chicane's production and the string backing are amazing, the vocalist is great. I do love a great emotional dance track and this most certainly is one, and really worth checking out, particularly in its full version. The song really reignited my love for Chicane's music and the album eventually became my 2nd favourite of the year. Quite amazing that he's been going for over 20 years and is now better than ever.

Further comment:

This ended up being Chicane's best effort of the decade.

184 Wankelmut & Emma Louise – My Head Is A Jungle (MK Remix) 1,198,300

25/08/2014 [EOY #25, 2014]

10-1-3-3-4-2-2-5-14-19-31-x-37-23-47-x

What I said:

This tune had been floating about for ages but the original version never interested me, but then I discovered MK's remix as it was getting a UK push, and was wowed. The piano in this gives it such a cool vibe and the vocal is great too, with its chorus getting into your head quickly. Love the 'heyyyyyyyy's too, she does have a lovely voice!

Further comment:

It's still one of MK's best efforts, although he still has five tracks to come such was his prominence this decade.

183 Duke Dumont – I Got U (feat. Jax Jones & Kelli-Leigh) 1,199,600

24/02/2014 [EOY #23, 2014]

28-32-x-26-10-13-18-25-26-26-26-28-48-x

What I said:

Not quite as high as Need U was last year, but I Got U was another massive tune for Duke Dumont which has so much summery vibez. The intro is amazing and one of the absolute best of the year, gotta love those steel drums.

Further comment:

Duke Dumont still has three songs left in the running, as does Jax Jones (who I never expected would end up becoming so prominent).

182 Meduza – Piece Of Your Heart (feat. Goodboys) 1,201,300

29/03/2019 [EOY #08, 2019]

32-30-20-16-8-6-10-16-20-16-16-24-22-22-22-21-20-20-9-12-17-22-18-22-26-40-x-46-x

What I said:

Italian production trio Meduza and British trio Goodboys teamed up to provide their massive breakthrough hit 'Piece Of Your Heart', one of the year's top five biggest mainstream hits in my personal chart. Giving us a fresh take on deep house, it took a few weeks for it to properly grow on me but once it did it refused to leave my chart for a good half a year. It was great to see this giving the genre an absolutely huge hit in the official chart too. With its load of great vocal hooks (and that one leading into the first drop is genius) it's certainly a catchy tune anyhow. Hopefully they can continue to get hits and provide bangers.

Further comment:

It's their only track in the rundown - but only as 'Lose Control' didn't have enough time to make it in.

181 Lika Morgan – In Motion 1,203,100

04/01/2019 [EOY #09, 2019]

49-30-28-21-17-11-10-10-13-16-15-16-15-16-18-21-22-29-35-44-x-37-30-30-32-33-36-36-x

What I said:

L.A. based singer Lika Morgan, who was also part of 'Make Your Move'. Likewise she hadn't had a big hit since until this year (although she had a fair few minor hits in-between) when 'In Motion' ended up being a big sleeper hit, only managing a #10 peak but it finishes for the year at #9. Unlike many of her songs this one is fully fleshed out original song which is what I'd like to hear more of from her, and just does it for me more than her other recent tracks. It has a great vibe inspired by recent deep house crossovers as well as 90s house, with her giving a great vocal as well. It was another BJSC entry for me too where it unfortunately missed the top 20.

Further comment:

'Make Your Move' is still yet to come.

Recap:

190 French Montana – Unforgettable (feat. Swae Lee)

189 Nero – Promises

188 Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji – Pressure (Alesso Remix)

'Bass Down Low' ~ What a dirty banger this was! Tinie's features have been hit-or-miss for me over the years but I agree that this was a good one.

It's a proper tune and only took a few weeks to proper hit me, it seems to be a one off from him though.

I remember briefly charting Shady Love but not long enough to really call it a hit. Shame as I thought she had potential but clearly it was limited to just 212.

It was very unlucky to miss #1, it really deserved it.

Tinie was really great back around then, he certainly helped that song although I'd take either version now.

thanks ~

From the 200-191 section

'This Is What It Feels Like'. A great tune this was from 2013 was a Top 5 hit in my personal chart.

'212'- definitely still a tune this.

'How Deep Is Your Love '- Another stroke of genius from Calvin with this tune. Don't hear it so much now.

yep they're all really great. HDIYL is still Calvin's 8th most popular song on Spotify at the moment so I'd say it is well remembered at least.

thanks ~

180 Imany – Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix) 1,205,200

29/01/2016 [EOY #16, 2016]

32-44-36-x-43-37-15-14-12-11-7-14-14-18-24-47-x

What I said:

This one I loved instantly when it was a BJSC entry but kept on growing after giving it another chance and eventually made my top 10. Sadly it didn't take off in the UK in a similar way but it was a huge Eastern European hit. The production is so upbeat, and reminiscent of the kind of eurodance that was smashing years ago, but it sounds very fresh. Imany has quite a nice voice but once again it is the remix that takes all the credit here, the original version is boring.

Further comment:

Unsurprisingly she was a complete one-hit wonder, with F&K not getting much success in my chart afterwards either.

179 Alan Walker – Sing Me To Sleep (feat. Iselin Solheim) 1,205,900

10/06/2016 [EOY #19, 2016]

7-7-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-3-7-7-14-19-25-32-45-x

What I said:

Alan Walker had a huge year being one of the most notable breakthrough producers with 'Faded' and the follow-up 'Sing Me To Sleep', which is in a similar style but different enough for me to get on board with it again. It became one of the most underrated tracks of the year too as it entered the UK chart at #95 and then was never seen again. It at least got over 100m streams on both YouTube and Spotify. Walker has a great unique production style and proves that a low BPM can really work for a dance track, and if 'Alone' is anything to go by he looks set to have a great 2017 as well.

Further comment:

Alan kept providing the tunes for the remainder of the decade but this is still his 2nd-best song.

178 Mike Mago & Dragonette – Secret Stash 1,209,700

25/11/2016 [EOY #27, 2017]

9-4-3-3-20-32-15-16-16-15-13-18-20-24-22-23-24-37-35-31-31-32-40-42-38-50-x

What I said:

You may remember Mike Mago & Dragonette for their minor hit 'Outlines', well in 2016 they released their second collaboration 'Secret Stash' which to my surprise was... even better. Quickly jumping into the top 10 it only managed four weeks there before the Christmas takeout and never fully recovered but it had amazing top 40 longevity. The xylophone sounding synth used in the buildup and drop is particularly excellent, and Ms Dragonette's vocal once again works well on a dance track (although they've only ever charted three times so far, all their chart entries have appeared in my year-end lists). It's a shame this never got half as much attention as their previous but that doesn't stop it from doing well in this countdown.

Further comment:

It is the top appearance for both of them.

177 DJ Fresh – Hot Right Now (feat. Rita Ora) 1,209,800

16/01/2012 [EOY #21, 2012]

30-19-21-33-26-5-10-9-8-16-14-14-20-21-29-32-32-32-50-x

What I said:

This proved to us that DJ Fresh was here to stay and not a one-hit wonder. It is a brilliant drum n' bass song that always gets the party going especially when the volume is up real high. Rita Ora should be thanking Mr. Fresh as this was the song that kickstarted her career in the UK and in my charts. Ce'Cile, RaVaughn and Sian Evans must have their heads in their hands right now as the DJ Fresh collab never did them any good.

Further comment:

It is the 3rd-highest appearance for DJ Fresh, and the 2nd-highest for Rita.

176 Kideko & George Kwali – Crank It (Woah!) (feat. Nadia Rose & Sweetie Irie) 1,212,600

12/08/2016 [EOY #37, 2016]

19-11-15-17-21-33-46-43-34-23-25-4-5-15-18-21-18-21-42-x

What I said:

Now here comes a huge club banger from Kideko and friends. In its original instrumental form it got a load of hype from Radio 1 nighttime and dance anthems, though I thought it was missing something and didn't chart it back then. Of course it would then get the vocal treatment, and wow does it improve it. Nadia Rose could well become one of my fave rappers of 2017 if she keeps up this quality. The drop is insane too so it's not surprising this stood out as one of the year's club smashes turned commercial hits, with it making the UK top 40 for a few weeks!

Further comment:

Well nothing became of any of the performers involved with this song, this being a big one off.

175 99 Souls – The Girl Is Mine (feat. Destiny's Child & Brandy) 1,215,800

19/01/2015 [EOY #40, 2015]

18-16-18-13-13-9-20-34-39-40-x-35-38-42-46-x-30-26-30-x

What I said:

99 Souls introduced us to this remix/mash-up when one of the members actually promoted the song on Buzzjack (*_*) and it was seriously amazing. And now it's an actual hit single in the UK which is amazing as for a while it felt like the song was never going to get a proper release. It's just so so good and fresh and it's great to hear Beyoncé's voice on a dance track for once as well as the 'The Boy Is Mine' throwback.

Further comment:

Sadly they seemed to disappear soon after the success of this and never released an official follow up single.

174 Calvin Harris – Feel So Close 1,219,500

08/08/2011 [EOY #70, 2011]

43-x-23-28-18-8-12-11-11-17-14-18-25-37-44-x

What I said:

This song took some time to grow on me, at first I really detested the vocals and it was overshadowed by "Bounce" on my chart, but I liked it enough to give it 8 weeks in the T20 - it's a nice song actually but a big step down from a song we'll get to much later in the chart.

Further comment:

Indeed, 'Bounce' will appear much later on in this chart too but this track's also really great, I should've ranked it a lot higher than #70 considering its big playcount but I had a different points system back then.

173 Nero – Me And You 1,219,700

13/12/2010 [EOY #22, 2011]

7-8-13-15-14-18-18-6-5-4-5-10-8-10-10-14-16-26-33-42-49-x-34-x

What I said:

"Me And You" has that epic introduction, the instrumental of this is amazing and Alana's vocal adds to it. It was also the theme music when James Corden went on stage to host at the BRITS and it deserves much more than its UK #15 peak.

Further comment:

As it turns out this isn't far ahead of 'Promises' and I would rate them about equally anyway.

172 Barthezz – On The Move (Riva Remix) 1,220,000

released 2001

DNC

What I said:

Didn't say anything for this. :P

Further comment:

This was one of the classic trance anthems I was playing a lot in 2010-11 when I was going through compilations, but I never made it eligible for my personal chart with it being an old song. It's the lesser known Riva remix as that's what was the version I had, and perhaps it's due to familiarity but I do prefer it to the original, it has more of a relaxed vibe. Don't search for it on Spotify though as what they've tagged as the Riva remix is not it (although a mixed cut of the right version is there as part of one of Armin's very early ASOT shows). The melody eventually got sampled by Lucas & Steve on a track that is still to come in the rundown.

171 Röyksopp – Never Ever (feat. Susanne Sundfør) 1,221,700

23/09/2016 [EOY #74, 2016 / EOY #77, 2017]

45-4-3-6-9-7-4-7-8-11-7-9-9-x-39-21-25-31-42-x-49-49-x

What I said:

Röyksopp were an act who I thought were well past it, and then they gave us the Robyn collaborative project in 2014 which was good and all, but then they really surprised this year with 'Never Ever' which is brilliant in just about every way, and became a sort of BuzzJack cult smash which was pleasing to see. It's amazingly dancey, poppy and uplifting; and Sundfør sings it with such conviction, if only Röyksopp had some sort of relevance left it would be their own 'Get Lucky' moment. Okay it's not quite that amazing but it's too good to be this underrated. So glad it got an extended version too because that outro is so much better in its minute long form.

Further comment:

This was another one off as they went into retirement afterwards and nothing of theirs from earlier in the decade was a proper hit with me.

170 Croatia Squad – Ven Pa Ca 1,222,100

17/05/2019 [EOY #10, 2019]

45-22-24-22-28-28-29-29-22-21-21-23-18-14-17-15-6-6-3-3-2-2-2-5-11-12-9-11-14-18-27-44-49-13-13-19-20-25-25-34-...

What I said:

'Ven Pa Ca' (which translates to 'come over here'), is a song that really should be a bit higher but there has to be a cut-off at some point. It is still in my top 40 anyhow so could appear in the 2020 EOY. Swiss producer Croatia Squad (don't be fooled by the name) first broke through with a re-work of Khia's 'My Neck, My Back' before getting a massive #2 hit with 'Make Your Move' which also made it to #10 in the EOY. The hits dried up completely afterwards until this track appeared in my release radar, instantly making my chart afterwards but becoming a real sleeper hit, peaking on its 21st week in the chart at #2 (unluckily he now has 8 weeks at #2 over two songs without a #1). The song itself is a cross between future house and Latin pop, with its lyrics in Spanish it is the highest track here sung in a foreign language. I love the vibe this song is going for with the Spanish guitar and snaps in the verses which seamlessly transitions to a big sounding drop, and the vocal (from an anonymous female) sounds rather sensual. It's just all round a great tune that sounds unique in the landscape of current dance music, and one that deserved better than it got in BJSC.

Further comment:

'Make Your Move' is still yet to appear.

169 Hurts – All I Want for Christmas Is New Year's Day 1,222,300

22/12/2014 – released 2010 [EOY #238, 2017 / EOY #216, 2019]

41-20-x-43-15-7-x-15-17-1-1-x-18-1-1-1-x-12-8-5-3-x-49-19-5-4-3-x

What I said:

This isn't one of the ones that gets featured one every compilation and Spotify playlist so you may be unfamiliar, and if you are then I really recommend it. It perfectly captures the feeling of Christmas not as being this overly joyous celebration but just wanting the new year to start already. It could definitely be a contender for this year's number one too as it will no doubt get quite a few spins once December starts.

Further comment:

It is the 5th-highest Christmas song on the list.

168 TheFatRat – Mayday (feat. Laura Brehm) 1,229,400

30/03/2018 [EOY #13, 2018]

1-1-2-2-11-4-5-7-8-8-9-9-14-15-17-14-20-29-32-30-28-39-43-46-x

What I said:

It was time for the long awaited part 3 of TheFatRat and Laura Brehm's collaborations, which from anticipation alone would have entered high but it was such a great song it got TheFatRat his second #1 and Laura her first (though their #2 hit 'The Calling' is still their best). If you've been following Thermo's hot hits for the past few years TheFatRat is a name you would have seen as this is now his third consecutive year with at least one song in the Hottest 20 (he had two in 2016, and one per year since), and if you haven't then I'd recommend this as he is my current favourite non-mainstream artist. He makes melodic trap and glitch hop which aren't usually my favourite subgenera but he's really unique and good at it. Helped by Laura's wonderful vocal, this is a concept song about being lost in space which is an interesting lyrical theme, and the production certainly suits it too.

Further comment:

It is TheFatRat's 3rd highest entry.

167 Above & Beyond – Always (feat. Zoe Johnston) 1,231,200

02/02/2018 [EOY #24, 2018]

6-11-24-39-x-48-48-x-24-23-29-29-26-26-37-20-22-25-29-36-x

What I said:

A&B made a huge impact this year in Thermo's hot hits with this. Again it features the lovely vocals of Zoe Johnston though this is one of their few non-dance tracks (though they did remix it later), and it did surprise me how much I liked this because I'm not usually keen on their slower songs. This is a really nice song though, I do like a well done piano ballad and this one's even better than most with the atmospheric production. It sounded particularly great as a winter ballad which sent it back into my top 40 for a while, though it never reached near its original peak from the album release.

Further comment:

They have one entry remaining.

166 Armin van Buuren vs. Shapov – La Résistance de l'Amour 1,232,900

19/04/2019 [EOY #07, 2019]

14-12-16-6-6-6-8-15-26-25-23-23-18-18-18-14-10-13-14-12-13-12-14-27-30-29-38-39-20-31-42-x-18-23-35-39-49-x

What I said:

Armin's highest track in the EOY this year, and indeed in any year, comes from his third team-up with Russian producer Shapov 'La Résistance De L'Amour' (French for 'the resistance of love'), a mostly instrumental track although the highest with a non-English song title. Whilst their first two collabs were both great this was truly something else, with it refusing to grow off me for about half a year. It's a proper anthemic progressive trance track, with stuttering synths and many other little things added to keep the song interesting, as well as a really good breakdown section that does its job of building the track up perfectly. These Shapov collabs are rather unique amongst Armin's discography and always great so hopefully we get to hear more from them soon.

Further comment:

It is the highest appearance for Armin (and Shapov).

165 KSHMR – Jammu 1,234,700

10/07/2015 [EOY #05, 2015]

20-3-3-3-2-1-1-1-2-4-5-7-14-24-25-12-19-23-26-30-31-35-28-31-35-29-38-x

What I said:

After the minor hit 'Megalodon' nothing KSHMR did interested me much, and he just seemed like another generic big room producer. Until he released the progressive house banger 'JAMMU' of course which really got my attention. It is progressive house at its best, and quite original too especially with the sitar use and interesting chord progression. It does follow a formula but it really stands out above the rest, and KSHMR has already released some more great tunes since so I'm really interested in him as a producer now, though it'll be very hard to top this I imagine.

Further comment:

It is still easily KSHMR's best track, and his highest appearance.

164 Juice WRLD – Lucid Dreams 1,235,100

15/06/2018 [EOY #18, 2018]

14-9-6-3-3-1-3-2-2-3-6-7-7-12-15-16-18-17-16-16-26-25-32-44-39-x

What I said:

Juice WRLD was previously unheard of by almost everyone until this started taking off, and this was surprisingly good for me as I was expecting some basic trap song when this started climbing on Spotify. Juice has a really catchy hook and his pain of having lost in a relationship really comes across here, but the song wouldn't be what it is without the really good use of the sample (Sting seems to agree too as he took most of the royalties) and that bass! He hasn't been able to get any other songs in Thermo's hot hits so far, but as he's still rather popular in the US it can't be long before he does make another good song.

Further comment:

It is Juice's sole entry in this rundown, I was never too keen on his follow ups.

163 Avicii – Tough Love (feat. Agnes & Vargas & Lagola) 1,235,700

10/05/2019 [EOY #05, 2019]

1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-2-3-3-3-4-5-5-8-10-12-21-29-28-32-36-x-28-35-45-x

What I said:

This was the 2nd single taken from Avicii's posthumous album 'Tim', acting only as a promo single in the UK however easily outperforming 'SOS' in my chart with five weeks at #1 plus an additional five weeks at #2 behind Avicii's own 'Heaven'. It's definitely one of the album's standouts so I can see why it was chosen to lead into the album. It also brought Agnes to the chart for the first time as her only other would-be hit 'Release Me' was from a decade ago at this point, with Vargas & Lagola as a duo getting their first #1 after 'Friend Of Mine' stalled at #2 behind 'Without You'. Agnes' guest vocal was at the suggestion of Tim who wanted a real life couple to sing this (her being married to Vincent/Vargas), lyrically about the struggles of a relationship. It was great that they did this as I love how they harmonise. The song also is inspired by Indian music giving us a very unique (particularly for this genre) violin hook (played by Salem/Lagola) which acts as the lead in the intro and drop sections, with the drop being one of the most energetic on the record. All around an outstanding track and one that'll most likely go down as an Avicii classic for me.

Further comment:

We'll be seeing Vargas & Lagola again on another Avicii track further up the chart.

162 Lady Gaga – Born This Way 1,239,800

14/02/2011 [EOY #13, 2011]

9-1-2-2-4-5-6-6-6-7-10-14-17-22-30-20-23-34-37-44-44-x

What I said:

She managed to get a week at the top in-between Rihanna's long reign (she will be appearing later in the chart) and debuted at #9 on the day it premiered. It's a great song and it's what Gaga is all about, unfortunately she missed out the UK #1 thanks to bad timing but this is one of my favourites from her. She needs to make more tunes like this in her next era, I love the fun Gaga much more than the serious Gaga.

Further comment:

She never topped this album for me, with her top three here all coming from it. She has one track remaining.

161 Møme – Aloha (feat. Merryn Jeann) 1,244,300

26/02/2016 [EOY #35, 2016]

50-x-33-42-42-34-21-15-7-8-4-3-3-3-5-6-11-12-14-49-x-26-36-36-40-47-x

What I said:

This one I initially discovered as a BJSC entry and thought it was quite good, but it later became one of the most unlikely huge chart smashes of the year in my chart as I gave it another chance after seeing it appear in the UK Spotify top 200. Unfortunately it didn't progress there but it proved to be a real grower of a song for me eventually peaking at #3. Such a brilliant tropical house song really, a genre we've seen a lot of this year but this one is quite different to most.

Further comment:

Møme never had another hit, unsurprisingly.

196 Avicii – Broken Arrows (feat. Zac Brown) Absolute tune, one of his best and really deserved more officially!

183 Duke Dumont – I Got U (feat. Jax Jones & Kelli-Leigh) I definitely prefer this to Need You 100%, such good summer vibes and reminds me of being on holiday back when it was released

176 Kideko & George Kwali – Crank It (Woah!) (feat. Nadia Rose & Sweetie Irie) This was such a brilliant vocal edit to a very good song anyway, still get this in my head a lot now even though I haven't heard it in ages! Feels like quite an unlikely Top 40 hit for the chart climate it was in but not complaining :music:

196 - I think it may've done something if they timed its release better, it should've been released in place of For A Better Day really, as good as that is that was never going to be a proper hit.

185 - it's such a lovely song really, Chicane's great at those

183 - well Need U is still to come here so I have to disagree there but this is really great anyhow

180 - I think it was before you joined but it was from bjsc which is where I found it, though it subsequently grew when it started doing really well around Europe and a UK push was being teased.

176 - it does feel like a non-hit in retrospect really, great that it did manage to go top 40 though

thanks ~

My number ones since last time are Bank Account, Waiting All Night, Starboy, Are You With Me, Havana, Can't Hold Us, Dark Horse, Work, Swish Swish, New Rules, Walking With Elephants, Lean On, I Love It & God's Plan. (Riverside (Let's Go) & I Need A Dollar, Down With The Trumpets & 212 would have easily been too)

My other faves are...

Martin Solveig - Hello This has just got better and better throughout the decade for me. The music video is one of my faves too.

Droideka - Get Hyper Bit of a forgotten gem

Fetty Wap - Trap Queen Loved this at the time but it hasn't held up well

- it was quite a good MV although not quite as good as the song

- it did seem to get forgotten very quickly like many meme hits, even I don't give it regular plays now though

- it still sounds good for me, it was one of my fave rap hits of the last decade

thanks ~

Born This Way, I remember that iTunes thread when it was released and the chart show thread seemed to be in hysteria when it came out.

160 Above & Beyond – My Own Hymn (feat. Zoe Johnston) 1,245,300

29/09/2017 [EOY #148, 2017 / EOY #27, 2018]

20-17-15-14-15-25-25-29-31-28-36-37-44-x-25-30-30-16-1-3-6-15-18-24-26-32-45-45-x

What I said:

It's great to hear that they haven't ditched their trance sound, this is just how I love my trance music. Zoe's vocals are lush as ever too. And off the back of the album's release this shot right up to #1, breaking the record for most weeks spent in the chart before making the top. It's a really lovely and uplifting song anyhow, which is a theme with these A&B songs helping the album take this year's #1.

Further comment:

It narrowly beats 'Always' to become their biggest song in the rundown.

159 DJ Fresh – Gold Dust (Shy FX Re-Edit/Original) (feat. Ce'Cile) 1,245,600

30/08/2010 [EOY #76, 2010 / EOY #52, 2012]

20-40-44-33-42-45-x-6-16-9-6-3-4-8-11-13-26-38-50-49-x

What I said:

DJ Fresh called on Shy FX to freshen up 2010 hit "Gold Dust", a great song with great vocals by an unknown vocalist.

Further comment:

Helped a fair bit by having had 2 releases, but it's deserving of a high place regardless. It is his 2nd highest in the rundown.

158 Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines (feat. T.I. & Pharrell) 1,247,800

13/05/2013 [EOY #13, 2013]

36-x-16-2-2-3-6-18-15-8-10-15-18-27-35-22-33-25-34-x-49-48-x

What I said:

The biggest selling song of the year in the UK (and presumably in most other countries in the world) and the first of two Pharrell entries is at #13. 'Blurred Lines' with its controversial lyrics, video and Robin/Miley VMA performance was unavoidable in the summer - but it's a really catchy tune and I couldn't help but love it. Now tell me buzzjack what rhymes with hug me?

Further comment:

It may be one of the songs in the top 200 that has aged the least well but the groove is still undeniable.

157 Michael Calfan – Treasured Soul 1,250,300

15/12/2014 [EOY #19, 2015]

19-26-14-14-3-5-14-28-26-39-50-x-42-44-41-39-29-11-12-19-32-x

What I said:

Michael Calfan ended last year with this wonderful house anthem. It's got low pitch vocals, tropical vibes and of course piano chords. All of which make for an excellent tune. This making the UK top 20 was really great to see too, any dance song that doesn't follow the typical pop song structure doing that well is a great achievement so yay for good collective music taste.

Further comment:

It is Michael's only appearance in the rundown.

156 Petit Biscuit – Sunset Lover 1,250,500

06/01/2017 [EOY #21, 2017]

20-10-8-7-7-10-12-13-13-11-11-14-14-14-11-10-12-12-17-26-29-35-40-43-48-48-x

What I said:

Landing just outside the top 20 is one-hit wonder Petit Biscuit. Someone at Spotify must have loved this song because it was on Today's Top Hits for a while which re-introduced me to this, actually from 2015 and won one of the UP contests I took part in. It's a great song though and quickly shot into my top 10 and had impressive longevity. It's a very chilled instrumental but has enough features in it to keep me interested and going back for more. Really well produced and very much unlike anything else that was a big hit for me which makes it more surprising that he made the track at only 15 years of age.

Further comment:

He ended up being a one hit wonder here, although I did quite like another song he did that was sent to BJSC.

155 Clean Bandit – Rockabye (feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie) 1,253,300

28/10/2016 [EOY #42, 2017]

26-16-16-17-14-13-4-4-10-8-3-6-9-12-19-24-30-33-39-48-x

What I said:

Just missing out on a year-end top 40 position due to bad timing on their part are Clean Bandit but they of course have a huge number one contender in 'Symphony'! 'Rockabye' was a great return to form for them after I wasn't so fussed about 'Tears' (which had a lower peak position than this song's year-end position!) and I really like how it tells a story about the DAILY STRUGGLE of being a parent, not something we get as a chart hit very often. A brilliant song that deserved all the success it got and really cemented Clean Bandit as a household name which was amazing to see.

Further comment:

Anne-Marie having a song this high seems very odd in retrospect when I disliked most of her more recent songs, but this remains great. It is the 3rd-highest appearance for Clean Bandit.

154 Alesso – Cool (feat. Roy English) 1,256,200

16/02/2015 [EOY #07, 2015]

16-10-12-4-10-5-8-2-1-1-1-1-2-3-6-6-12-26-21-29-43-x

What I said:

After many attempts Alesso finally got a deserved #1 single, the Kylie inspired 'Cool'. It really is a flawless progressive house/dance pop song, just so good. The lyrics build nicely across the song leading eventually to the middle 8 where he really lets his voice out. I even tried to mash up this song with Get Outta My Way but the Roy English vocal just sounds so much better on the track. The production is great too, with a great hands up melodic drop which sounds even more euphoric than 'Heroes' as great as that is. It'll be incredibly hard to top this effort anyway so well done Alesso.

Further comment:

Alesso actually has one song remaining, but that was from a few years earlier so he's never made a song this good since.

153 Duke Dumont – Inhale (feat. Ebenezer) 1,257,000

23/03/2018 [EOY #11, 2018]

What I said:

After the massive 'Real Life' I was keen to hear what Duke Dumont would release next, and to my surprise he went down the nu-disco route but it really works, and though it just misses the top 10 it is his highest EOY finish yet (but not my favourite song of his ever). Ebenezer's sing-rapping works well with it too and it's simply a very groovy track which I of course was going to love so I can't fault him for switching his style up a bit here. Unfortunately it made no radio or chart impact and it was only one of two songs he released in 2018, with the other being rather disappointing, but we're due another one rather soon so that could potentially dent the 2019 EOY. It's great to still have him around anyway.

Further comment:

It is Dumont's 3rd-highest appearance.

152 Lady Gaga – Judas 1,257,700

25/04/2011 [EOY #26, 2011]

1-5-5-7-14-12-10-13-16-21-15-21-27-29-29-29-47-50-x

What I said:

Bad Romance Part II, I mean Judas, was the first #1 debut of the year. I was so hyped for this song and was hoping it'd do a 'Poker Face' and be massive. That certainly wasn't the case, with Judas not reaching iTunes #1 and flopping in the US. It didn't flop on most charts on BJ - including mine.

Further comment:

Lady Gaga's highest entry here barely outperforming BTW despite its lower EOY position in 2011, it just held up slightly better.

151 Calvin Harris – I Need Your Love (feat. Ellie Goulding) 1,258,700

05/11/2012 [EOY #10, 2013]

13-x-22-7-3-3-8-6-10-13-23-41-47-x-50-x

What I said:

For the third year in a row, Calvin has an entry in my end of year top 10. The song originally went in my top 20 as an album track, but I properly loved it when it (predictably) became a single. Ellie's wonderful unique voice and Calvin's production work well together to create this amazing pop-dance tune. I would like to hear her do more dance songs especially if they're as good as this.

Further comment:

The better of the two Calvin/Ellie tracks imo, and also Ellie's best outright.

150 Robert Miles – Children 1,260,000

released 1996

DNC

What I said:

Didn't say anything. :P

Further comment:

One of my favourite dance classics, which I discovered in the early 2010s from a compilation and may even have been #1 at one point if I let it be chart eligible.

149 Avicii – You Make Me (feat. Salem Al Fakir) 1,260,800

16/09/2013 [EOY #07, 2013]

2-1-1-4-5-4-2-7-14-16-15-22-33-x-33-45-x-15-x

What I said:

It would be hard for anyone to follow up a song as good as 'Wake Me Up' and keep the high standard. This may not be as good as that, but it's still amazing! With uncredited vocals from Salem Al Fakir (from 'Silhouettes'), Avicii shows us how to make a good pop song. It just puts me in a good mood, every time.

Further comment:

It doesn't even have half the points total of Wake Me Up here, that was such a hard song to follow but this is great still although not in my top 10 of his.

148 BUNT. – On My Way (feat. Leah Haywood) 1,261,800

06/10/2017 [EOY #25, 2018]

25-25-27-31-41-46-x-41-48-x-49-x-35-35-41-x-45-25-9-10-10-12-14-24-29-35-47-x

What I said:

BUNT. were somewhat of a recent discovery for me but I quickly grew to love their brand of Avicii inspired folk house. Originally having one of the longest runs for a non-top 20 hit, it was given a 're-release' when I decided to send it to BJSC and it belatedly became their first top 10 hit (and it finished just outside the top 10 in BJSC). It's a very uptempo and uplifting song, the vocal is great, and the production is the best emulation of the Avicii folk house sound I've heard, even if it took a long while for it to really grow on me. It got quite a few comparisons to Avicii's own 'The Nights', but right now I'd say I actually prefer this!!

Further comment:

Seems a bit off that an Avicii soundalike outperforms many of Avicii's tracks here but this is undeniably great. Their more recent output has been rather disappointing however.

147 Post Malone – Rockstar (feat. 21 Savage) 1,266,400

22/09/2017 [EOY #107, 2017 / EOY #39, 2018]

12-7-3-3-3-4-5-4-4-4-4-6-12-18-x-7-11-13-21-40-45-x

What I said:

Not being fussed with 'Congratulations', this surprised me with just how good it was, no wonder it just about instantly topped charts all over the world. Trap at its absolute best, hook is ridiculously catchy. One of the best rap tracks we've had all decade for me, this getting Post Malone really big was much deserved and he's yet to come close to beating it.

Further comment:

It's still definitely Post Malone's best effort in my view.

146 Kygo & Selena Gomez – It Ain't Me 1,267,300

24/02/2017 [EOY #23, 2017]

16-8-9-9-13-11-10-8-5-5-6-6-7-9-7-12-16-19-31-42-47-x

What I said:

Not too long after the 'Cloud Nine' album we got the return of Kygo and with one of his best songs yet, his second-best performing song on my chart after 'Firestone'. Being a collab with Selena Gomez it could have easily been a sub-par release but Kygo stayed true to his sound and the song really stood out. Tropical house may be starting to get stale as a genre but Kygo who popularised it of course knows how to do it well (although subsequent releases haven't been quite as good). With an immensely catchy hook, great use of chopped up vocals and brilliant production, this unsurprisingly was a massive hit worldwide and in my chart. It also gives Selena at long last an entry in my EOY Hot 100, having been absent for the last 7 years of her career.

Further comment:

It is Kygo's 2nd highest appearance and easily Selena's best.

145 Hardwell – Apollo (feat. Amba Shepherd) 1,268,100

24/12/2012 [EOY #9, 2013]

3-3-2-6-12-12-19-27-29-47-x-28-33-x

What I said:

Hardwell's breakthrough smash hit on my chart. The production on this is amazing, it reminds me of 'Language' but with Hardwell's style, having a melodic buildup followed by a drop more focused on the bass. It also has a small vocal section which adds even more to the song.

Further comment:

Very easily Hardwell's best song. Sadly for a good while now he's not made many songs that I've enjoyed so I'd be surprised if he ever comes up with something half as good as this again.

144 Dimension – Black Church 1,269,200

20/04/2018 [EOY #10, 2018]

32-x-24-15-3-4-3-3-3-7-11-12-12-19-34-35-31-32-30-31-34-44-49-x

What I said:

DnB is not a genre I usually love especially these days but I rediscovered Dimension whilst surfing through YouTube and landing on this song, and now I'd say definitely he is one of the best in the genre. His sound design is very impressive and it stands out strongly for the genre. This song particularly does it for me, helped by the unknown female vocalist as well but I just love Dimension's melodic synths and the drop always gets me hyped. It was held at #3 by 'One Kiss' (still to come) and 'Ultimatum' (#22), and it was also my most successful BJSC entry of the year (and unknowingly a Thelonia potential) - placing 5th and also making the Best Of final. As ever, my most successful of the year isn't my favourite of the year but I'm pleased with this being it for me, it's such a tune. Would recommend if you enjoyed the likes of DJ Fresh and Sub Focus back in the day.

Further comment:

It's the top appearance for Dimension, who so far has only had two hits in my chart with 'Desire' being his one other.

143 DJ Fresh – Louder (feat. Sian Evans) 1,269,400

23/05/2011 [EOY #41, 2011]

26-38-46-20-7-19-25-3-4-12-12-18-25-31-37-29-42-45-46-x

What I said:

I had a hard time choosing which song had to miss out my T40, they are all so good - in the end DJ Fresh's "Louder" had the least amount of points so that missed out. A great dub step tune, the dub step "revolution" that was meant to happen never did but we did get a few great songs like this one. This is the best selling dub step song in the UK and the highest non-Nero dub step song on my chart.

Further comment:

This ends up higher than all but one of Nero's tracks and it is also DJ Fresh's biggest song.

142 Sam Feldt – Show Me Love (feat. Kimberley Anne) (Original/EDX Remix) 1,271,400

09/02/2015 [EOY #29, 2015]

8-11-6-10-13-18-22-38-x-35-27-29-33-50-41-45-46-x

What I said:

Do we really need another cover of 'Show Me Love'?? The answer may be no but Sam Feldt manages to do a brilliant version, really bringing the tropical in tropical house even down to the birdsong in the background, it's just such a beautiful production. The vocal is a lot more relaxed than the original version which really suits it too. Unfortunately it got a very mixed reaction but I don't find this boring at all, it's brilliant. Also worth listening to is the EDX remix which brings even more life into it.

Further comment:

It is Sam Feldt's only entry in the rundown.

141 MK, Jonas Blue & Becky Hill – Back & Forth 1,274,100

14/09/2018 [EOY #90, 2018 / EOY #37, 2019]

1-1-1-1-1-2-3-4-5-7-9-6-13-26-x-23-19-21-26-28-31-34-35-42-x

What I said:

MK will of course be appearing a lot higher with '17' but for now 'Back & Forth' is here, which was the long-awaited and much-anticipated follow-up; debuting instantly at #1 and spending 5 weeks there; his longest #1 run to date. It was also really great to see him reunite with Becky Hill, who is such a good vocalist on dance tracks particularly. It doesn't quite have the impact of 'Piece of Me' but it is nonetheless a proper bop, and thankfully very much in the style of MK despite Jonas Blue's presence (I really can't hear what he did in this song) with the house beat that he has perfected and the piano stabs that I love. Hopefully he doesn't wait as long for his next release because he's really one of the best in his genre, and it's amazing to see him rack up the hits too.

Further comment:

MK & Becky's other collab is still to appear. It's easily the best song Jonas Blue was involved in however.
