English cricket's 18 counties have passed a majority vote to play both red ball and white ball cricket when the delayed 2020 season starts on 1 August.

After three and a half months lost following the coronavirus pandemic, several dissenting counties had hoped to play white-ball cricket only, as it is more financially beneficial.

But the majority also wanted first-class cricket to appease members.

A fixture list is still to be released by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Postponing this year's T20 World Cup in Australia "would make sense", says Scotland head coach Shane Burger.

Scotland have qualified for the event which is due to run from 18 October to 15 November.

But with Melbourne - one of the host cities - in a six-week lockdown because of a rise in coronavirus cases, a postponement is likely.

"To get 16 teams coming into a country with fans, it just seems very unrealistic," said Burger.

England fast bowler Jofra Archer was excluded from the second Test against West Indies after breaching the bio-secure protocols.

The 25-year-old went to his Brighton home between the first Test in Southampton and second in Manchester.

All of England's matches this summer are being played behind closed doors and in a bio-secure environment.

"I am extremely sorry for what I have done. I feel like I have let both teams down," said Archer.

With Mark Wood and James Anderson rested, Archer was set to be the only member of England's pace attack from the first Test retained in the side for the second.

After he was excluded, England opted to include Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran in their side at Emirates Old Trafford.

England captain Joe Root said Archer's actions were "disappointing".

Ben Stokes has overtaken West Indies captain Jason Holder to become the number one ranked all-rounder in the world.

The 29-year-old scored 254 runs and took three wickets as England beat West Indies at Old Trafford on Monday to level the three-Test series at 1-1.

Stokes is the first English all-rounder to top the rankings since Andrew Flintoff in May 2006.

He has also climbed to a career-best third position in the batting rankings.

The left-hander is joint third with Australia's Marnus Labuschagne and behind only Australia's Steve Smith and India captain Virat Kohli.

Stokes' tally of 497 points is the highest by any Test all-rounder since Jacques Kallis' 517 in April 2008.

England leg-spinner Matt Parkinson has been ruled out of the one-day international series against Ireland with a sprained ankle.

The 23-year-old Lancashire bowler suffered the injury during fielding practice on Monday.

Parkinson will miss the three ODIs at the Ageas Bowl, the first of which is on 30 July.

England win the test series 2-1 and Stuart Broad becomes the 7th bowler to take 500 wickets.

They did well today to take the eight wickets they needed before it started raining at 3pm.

Ireland win the third ODI with one ball remaining. Their target of 329 was one more than when they beat England in the World Cup of 2011. England's odds to win were 1/100 at one stage today.

What a great day's test cricket that was with England collapsing from 86-1 to 117-5 but still going on to chase down their target of 277 to win against Pakistan with 3 wickets to spare. Buttler 75 and Woakes 84 not out.

England finally bowled Pakistan out for 236 when Stuart Broad had Mohammad Rizwan caught at cover for 72.

Rory Burns was dismissed by the fourth ball of England's reply before rain stopped play with the hosts 7-1.

Flexible start times for England's third Test against Pakistan have been agreed after the second Test was ruined by rain and bad light.

If time is lost on a particular day at the Ageas Bowl, officials will have the option of starting play 30 minutes earlier on the following day.

That means action could begin at 10:30 BST, rather than the usual 11:00.

England's push for victory and James Anderson's quest for a 600th Test wicket were obstructed by the weather and Pakistan's stubborn resistance on day four of the final Test at the Ageas Bowl.

Following-on, the tourists reached 100-2, still 210 behind, but with the opportunity to save the match if they can bat out the final day.

Let's hope for better weather tomorrow. Earlier in the match,Zak Crawley and Jos Buttler broke the record for England's fifth wicket patrnership, putting on 359 runs together.
