Posted January 1, 20205 yr Decided to go the route of the chart show with this to see if I can keep it up in the new year lol. The Weekly Top 50: December 28, 2019 to January 3, 2020 We've got a bit of a shake-up in the chart this week as we have SIX new entries in the Top 40 as well as EIGHT songs reaching new peaks within the Top 40. The Avicii tribute concert song "Fades Away" which features the stunning vocals of MishCatt is hoping to spend a second week at number one but she's got to fend off strong competition from Just Kiddin, Molly Sandén, The Chainsmokers & Kygo and Harry Styles to name a few. A new entry from singer-songwriter Hopium may challenge the crown too even though the song is technically more than a year old. Let's take a look at last week's top 10 before we dive into this week's changes: TW (LW) WKS Artist & Song [Peak] 01 (NE) 01 Avicii featuring MishCatt – "Fades Away (Tribute Concert Version)" [1w @ 1] 02 (01) 04 The Weeknd – "Blinding Lights" [3w @ 1] 03 (05) 02 Molly Sandén – "Det Bästa Kanske Inte Hänt Än" [3] 04 (NE) 01 Just Kiddin featuring Camden Cox – "Stay the Night" [4] 05 (02) 03 Tusse – "Rain" [2] 06 (04) 08 Dua Lipa – "Don't Start Now" [4] 07 (03) 08 Sigala featuring Ella Henderson – "We Got Love" [2] 08 (18) 03 Harry Styles – "Adore You" [8] 09 (06) 06 Sheppard – "Die Young" [2w @ 1] 10 (08) 04 Example – "Do It So Well" [5] So last week we had three new songs in the Top 10 including two that were brand new to the Top 40 entirely. A new version of Avicii's song took the crown after a haunting performance at the tribute concert in Stockholm last month, pushing The Weeknd to number two after three weeks on top. Molly Sandén reached a new peak with the title track from her newest album and Just Kiddin get a second hit in 2019 in the very last week after reaching No. 25 all the way back in February. Harry Styles climbs into the Top 10 for the second time in 2019 as well as the second time in his solo career (as prior to 2019 he had only had one hit: "Sign of the Times" which reached No. 14 in 2017). Everything else in the Top 10 dropped. Additionally we have six dropouts to counter the six new entries: TW (LW) WKS Artist & Song [Peak] 42 (39) 02 Galantis and Dolly Parton featuring Mr. Probz – "Faith" [36] 45 (32) 09 Becky Hill – "Changing" [1w @ 1] 46 (35) 07 Clara Mae – "Unmiss You" [8] 53 (40) 09 Duncan Laurence – "Love Don't Hate It" [5] 58 (38) 03 Steve Aoki featuring Sting and SHAED – "2 In A Million" [16] 71 (24) 01 Sebastian Böhm – "Blue Monday" [24] Mostly songs which were on the way out to begin with, including ESC 2019 winner Duncan Laurence's second single and Becky Hill's first solo number one. Galantis and Dolly Parton manage to spend two weeks in the Top 40 before dipping out after previously trying to get in for a while. Steve Aoki's newest collaboration continues to drop like a stone after reaching No. 16 only three weeks ago and Sebastian Böhm's "Wonder Woman 2" trailer soundtrack drops even harder almost out of the Top 75 entirely. This was to be expected as the song charted almost solely based on hype to begin with. The final bit of information we'll look into before going into the actual top 40 is to take a look at the songs that just missed out on entering the Top 40 this week (i.e. songs that charted between 41 and 50 that have never entered the Top 40). This is essentially the Bubbling Under / Heatseeker chart. TW (LW) WKS Artist & Song [Peak] 41 (NE) 01 Martin Garrix and Matisse & Sadko featuring Michael Zitron – "Hold On" [41] 43 (46) 02 Hot Shade and Mike Perry featuring Chris James – "Dive" [43] 44 (NE) 01 Zookeepers featuring TooManyLeftHands – "Magic" [44] 47 (50) 02 Kyan Palmer – "Poetry In Motion" [47] 48 (NE) 01 Marc Benjamin – "All The Time" [48] 49 (41) 03 Of Monsters and Men – "Wars" [41] Of Monsters and Men fail to enter the Top 40 for the third week in a row after getting so close last week and two other songs stick around after failing to enter last week two: Hot Shade & Mike Perry's new single "Dive" and Kyan Palmer's haunting ballad "Poetry In Motion". "Dive" failing to chart is especially interesting seeing how both artists have had some huge singles in the past year or two, with Mike Perry's "Bloodshot" spending 12 weeks in the Top 40 despite peaking only at No. 13 and Hot Shade's "Nobody" reaching No. 1 in late 2018. Martin Garrix's most recent efford almost makes it but falls short, Zookeepers recruit previous Top 40 artist TooManyLeftHands but also falls short. Finally Marc Benjamin makes No. 48 after only one day of sales. The song, "All The Time", samples Eiffel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" and charts here with help from Spotify playlist "Dance Covers" which got some heavy rotation on New Year's Eve. Before starting the Top 40 countdown I wanna start by apologizing for shamelessly stealing what I assume is JosephCarey's format from the Official Chart thread. I'm not intending to claim credit for this setup at all and am merely using it as well because I think it's sleek, neat and looks great so I'll always give credit where it's due!
