Sadly, I don't think his supporters will accept it until he has and that looks very unlikely to ever happen.

We did get this moment yesterday though:

I disagree. When I lived in Nebraska in 2010-11, the thing that surprised me was just how popular Sarah Palin was at the time among Republican-leaning people, female and male. There hasn't been a female Republican that put herself forward for the primary that was of the standard that could have won the party's nominations to date (Michelle Bachmann & Carly Fiorna ran objectively terrible campaigns), but in 2024 I can see Nikki Haley winning it, and there's quite a few Republican women who have entered the House of Representatives for the first time in this election cycle that are worth keeping an eye on.

Yeah and I also think Candace Owens might be a potential 2024 nominee (who I found out about when the word 'Blexit' to do with that White House rally in October made the news).

Yes Sarah Palin was very popular for a while and I wonder what would have happened if she had of decided to enter the Republican primaries in 2012 as a candidate.

1) Heck no. That grifter's got no chance.

2) I see Sarah Palin as sort of a "proto-Trump", so I think she might have done quite well, albeit not well enough to win the candidacy (she was making mint from her media career, which is why she didn't run at the time). I don't see this as the end of Trumpism for Republicans, I imagine their candidate will be Trump-y without his short attention span and thin-skinnedness, and a woman in the Trump mould would be even more popular among the base than Trump could ever be.

Yes Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement really started Trumpism.

Yes, Donald Trump will I suspect continue to have an influence over the trajectory of the Republican Party, and the real nightmare would be a candidate in 2024 like Trump but with a bit more empathy and intelligence. There is still evidently a marked divide in American society, and a huge amount of potential support out there for someone like him to successfully run for President.

I think Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio will likely run for the nomination again and wouldn't be surprised if either of them are the next GOP candidate for 2024.

I think it'll be between one of those two and Nikki Haley. Pence will probably run but won't get near as he has as much personality as a dishcloth. :D

I think any female candidate is going to have a much harder time getting the Republican nomination than a white male. You only need to look how hard it has been on the Democratic side! We had loads of females in the primaries only to end up with 2 septuagenarian white men.

Depends if they've to try and dislodge a sitting female President then.

Also I'm so f***ing glad Trump got beat. He's an ass. Unfortunately I was doing a food shop when the race was called, after watching CNN since election day. Raging 😂

Did anyone stay up to watch the victory speeches?

I was really impressed. First time I’ve heard a stump speech from Kamala and I thought she was excellent. A really very good speaker. I’ve seen some impressive performances from her in the senate before too.

Thought the pair of them hit a lot of the right notes. They did a lot of acknowledgment of the coalition of voters that got them there and picked out key messages and topics of concern like health care and racial justice. So good to see an actual name check of the gay community for only the second time in a victory speech and the first time ever for the trans community. After 4 years of anti-LGBTQIA rhetoric and policies it is good to see America making baby steps of progress again.

Think most of all from a EU perspective, it felt like a WH team we can work with and actually team up with to make a difference to the world again.

I am just stressing out a bit now with all these litigations that he's trying to push through the courts...clearly he's not coming to senses anytime soon and concede!!!

I didn't, but I have watched them back and they were both very good. Biden used the 'no red states or blue states, just the united states' which definitely strikes the right tone after Trump's very divisive Presidency. They have both highlighted clearly where their priorities lie and will hopefully rejoin the international community to tackle the biggest threats of the next few decades such as climate change. It did strike me during it how isolated the UK now is from the US and the rest of Europe!

I wouldn't worry about it. His rants are just the crazed ramblings of someone who cannot accept losing, there is no chance of any litigation being successful, indeed much of the noise and disbelief in the result is to drum-up/ raise money for the campaign which is in debt and to reel in suckers/LOONS who are willing to give money to the cause (even though it is doomed).

Just enjoy the comedy. :D

Trump's sackings have started. He's fired his Defence Secretary.

I watched Kamala and Joe's speeches. I don't think they were anything spectacular but god it feels good just to have coherent speeches after the last 4 years.

Also loved that Joe jogged onto the stage. Probably not done on purpose but the contrast between that and Trump struggling to walk down a ramp that one time.
