And just like that, X&Y goes from being the only album untouched to joining Viva la Vida... and Mylo Xyloto by only having one single left standing. Speed of Sound was the lead single from the album and in 2005, they were big news following their hugely successful Rush... era, so this was their biggest hit at the time, going straight to number 2 in the UK and was their first top 10 hit in the US Billboard, peaking at number 8, with a huge anthemic chorus, it showed their first real foray into proper stadium anthems that X&Y would specialise in. It was nominated for two Grammy awards and won a BRIT award and an ASCAP Song of the Year award, though unfortunately, it's most infamous award is being the song that was beaten to number 1 by an amphibian as it ran into Crazy Frog's Axel F in the UK chart. I do enjoy this song, but this definitely feels like far enough for it. Of all the songs left, it does feel a bit emptier than the others meaning-wise and that piano riff does have an unfortunate over-resemblance to Clocks.

What should I wave my wand to get rid of next? (jk, no fixing here dw x)

While I am glad it got this far, I will join the Trouble voters now. I think In My Place is slightly above that on reflection.

I really expected 'Speed Of Sound' to be one of the very last few songs left - I guess top 10 is still decent but it deserved better for sure. Admittedly I do sometimes get it muddled up with 'Clocks' in my memory as the instrumentals are very similar but I think 'Speed Of Sound' is the better of the two (and... it losing #1 to Crazy Frog is a very memorable moment in their history :P)

Going for 'Trouble' again ofc ~

Oh my god! This is sooooo hard now.

I think the one I’ll least likely to listen to out of the ones that’s left is ‘Clocks’ so will vote for that

Voting for Trouble once again, still wouldn't mind if Paradise left either. The other six really need to stay.
for the condescending (bad) lyrics, Fix You
