Oh Santa is great and it sounds like another track that will make the rounds every year. In which case I won't be charting it until next Christmas. It's times like this that I wish I still had a top 75 :lol:

It's the Christmas chart this week which means this year's Christmas Number One deservedly goes to Aly & Fila and Plumb! 'Somebody Loves You' holds on to #1 for an 8th week, being the joint-longest running #1 of the year alongside Boris Brejcha's 'Gravity'. It is however the longest consecutive run at #1 with it being a 6th consecutive week at the top (the run being broken for a single week by Cam & Avicii's 'The Otherside'). Climbing up to #2 this week is Nora En Pure with 'Wetlands', reaching a new peak impressively in its 12th week in the chart! It comes off the back of its BJSC win for Land of DW and is Nora's third song to reach the top 2, following 'Tell My Heart' (#2, 2016) and 'Trailblazer' (#1, 2018). Nora also gets her 9th top 10 hit this week with 'Enchantment', which climbs to #8. It means after three weeks at #2, Dimitri Vegas and friends slip back to #3 with 'Christmas Time'. Longstays of the top 5 Eric Prydz and Adriatique also slip a place each.

 

Into the top 10 this week following three weeks in the top 20 is ilan Bluestone, at #7 with 'Paid For Love'. It is the trance DJ's second top 10 hit, at long last following 'Spheres' (2014, #5) - good things come to those who wait. Also entering the top 10 is this week's highest new entry (the first of only two in the top 50). It comes from Vize & Alan Walker and also credits Russian composer Edward Artemyev whose 'Siberiade' is sampled in 'Space Melody' (famously also sampled by PPK in 00s trance classic 'Resurection'). The song enters at #9 to instantly become Vize's first top 10 hit, and Alan's 8th. Also entering this week at #14 are Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge under their "Cvnt5" project. 'Cvnt5 of the Caribbean' enters at #14, being the 2nd song under the name from them following the self-titled 'Cvnt5' which made it to #26. Outside the top 50 a good few BJSC entries make the chart (helped by a lack of competition, and my new rules limiting Christmas classics to just the top 50) alongside brand new releases from Ytram and ilan Bluestone which should smash in the new year.

Nopus is amazing, hopefully it'll become a Top 40 hit in UK.

 

Nice to see Wetlands top 5 as well.

 

And OMG at Leona/Mariah being so high in midst of all these dance songs :kink:

They are now Christmas number one and have the joint-longest runner #1 of the year!! They could get beaten next week though as that'll be proper Christmas chaos..

I can't see Nopus being a hit single sadly but at least R1 are giving it some support.

Wetlands is now up to #2 this week! Could potentially rise to #1 next year even.

Christmas is always the weirdest time of the year in my chart, the only time when my chart isn't 95% dance songs. :lol:

I don't think Nopus will be an official chart hit but at this stage of his career he doesn't need one as long as the song quality is amazing.

I can't see Easier taking off either, CamelPhat seem to be past the stage of having hit singles already.

They finished 13th for Leww. Meanwhile I DNQed and my planned January entry (Wetlands) was taken and won the contest. :lol:

Hmm I get you, I do think it's lovely but I prefer her last year's Christmas effort of Only You.

It's the Christmas chaos chart week on Thermo's hot hits, with a mammoth 41 festive tracks in the top 50! This year the Top 50 rule has been brought back in, so Christmas classics are only allowed in the chart if they are top 50. The usual recurrence rules for 'normal' songs are not in effect this week as the affected songs would only drop out this week and re-enter next week.

 

Anyhow, after four weeks sitting in the top 3, Dimitri Vegas and friends finally take the #1 spot with 'Christmas Time'. It is the 19th and final #1 single of 2020 and unseats Aly & Fila after spending 8 weeks at #1. The song is the first #1 for DV&LM, Brennan Heart & Jeremy Oceans. However it is the 2nd #1 hit for Armin van Buuren, following 'This Is What It Feels Like' which spent 2 weeks at the summit in 2013. Former #1 hits from Hurts, Leona Lewis and Malinkiesza sit at numbers 2 through to 4, with The Pogues making their annual top 5 re-appearance at #5. It is now their 15th week in the top 10 without going any higher than #3.

 

'Somebody Loves You' is the sole non-Christmas song in the top 10, sliding 1-6 this week. Last week's #2 from Nora En Pure 'Wetlands' is down to #18 and Eric Prydz falls to #20 with 'Nopus'. Jess Glynne reaches a new peak of #7 with 'This Christmas', beating the #10 peak it scaled two weeks ago. Mariah Carey also has a new peak of #8 with 'All I Want...', having reached #10 last year. It is the song's 2nd appearance in the top 10. Ellie Goulding returns to #9 with 'River' and at #10 we have Pretenders with '2000 Miles', the song's first appearance ever in the top 10 beating its #12 peak from three years back (and now the song's 5th consecutive year in the top 20).

 

For the first time since 2015, neither version of 'Last Christmas' manages to make the top 10. Cascada and Wham! still do respectably however reaching #11 and #14 this year. A whole load of other Christmas songs re-enter but most interestingly Steeleye Span's effort has a huge year-on-year boost, making the top 40 for the first time ever with 'All Around My Hat' in at #24 (the song is considered a festive Classic in Danæviia for... very particular reasons). Kelly Clarkson's 'Underneath The Tree' also reaches a new peak of #27. One new Christmas song enters this week coming from Ella Henderson, 'Blame It On The Mistletoe' at #46.

I take it you mean my #1 being replaced? Well it just has been Christmas. :P Aly & Fila are in prime position to make their way back to #1 this coming week. Likewise Nora En Pure should shoot back up to #2.

I'm not sure how well This Christmas will hold up in future years but it definitely deserved a top 10 peak at least.

UTT is certainly proving itself as a Christmas classic, it ain't quite Leona but certainly better than Ariana's if we're comparing big modern Xmas songs.

A very Christmassy chart this week! I approve of your #1, didn't think much of it initially but it's grown on me over the last few weeks and just scraped my Top 40 this week.

 

Great to see Jess and The Pretenders in your Top 10 and Chris Rea, Boney M, Waitresses and Ronettes in your Top 50 to name a few. That sea of down arrows is a sight to behold though! (as will the potential sea of up arrows/purple stars next week)
