6. In My Place (12/28 votes, 42.86%)

A pretty predictable response given previous voting patterns, but the lead single from Rush of Blood to the Head falls before the final hurdle of the top 5, a quite incredible fifteen rounds after the last Rush... single went and they're still in a good place with two of their singles still with us. As the lead single from what would arguably be known as their definitive album, you could say In My Place really propelled them to stardom as it was their highest charting single at the time in the UK, peaking at number 2 (less embarassingly than Speed of Sound, it lost to Darius' Colourblind, a banger tbf), although you could certainly argue the other way too. Built around crashing drums and chiming guitars and anthemic chorus, it kept Parachutes' sound but upped the ante so acts as a first indication of the pop-rock, melodic stadium sound they were capable of, and this was also their highest charting at the time in the US as well as winning a Grammy. This has never been a massive favourite, but listening to it now, it really is rather lovely and beautifully melodic, a strong highlight, but I can't really complain at this placing as that top 5's just far too good.

This. Is. Painful.

I'm gonna go with Yellow, just purely as I haven't gone back to it as much as the others, but gosh it could easily change if I hear it again!

No baby no at what's currently leading. x

#voteclocks

Sad that 'In My Place' won the last round by so much but #6 is not too bad ~ I guess it's not quite as omnipresent a song as the rest of those remaining on the list (bar 'The Scientist').

Only listen to that^ if you want a ban after this :o

(shit, I knew I should've voted tactically)

Don’t worry, I’ll unban you if you vote Fix You and Chez takes action :P

BOO. Their best track -_- 6th is decent I suppose.

Viva La Vida is so far below those others, get rid.
