it's not a tactic, it's cos of cover they cannot get the vinyls on time lol

And you know that because...?

You may be right, but holding vinyls back for a week or 2 does seem like a great strategy to send it back up the charts!

Looks like the vinyls are being released on the 30th anyway.

According to an source from ATRL,

Chill dance-pop album, most like Dancing With A Stranger, there aren't huge bops

"Young" - acapella vocals drowned in vocoder, "Another One" - four on the floor chill beat that would play in cafés or H&M, "For The Lover That I Lost" and "Forgive Myself" piano ballads, "Kids Again" Harry Styles meets Sam Smith, the most upbeat song is Dance (breakdown with vocal chops)

sure a late vinyl release helps getting a 1-week mini-sales bump

but it also negatively impacts your 1st week total

you want all your formats out on week1 to maximise chart position and sales

Does anyone know the pre-orders for this?

Probably would’ve been an easy #1 until Ariana announced she was releasing the same day.

I think Sam should probably be at least set for #2 with around 35k sales maybe? They definitely have a strong fanbase with albums and can sell albums too.

I think this is gonna really underperform compared to the last two albums unfortunately. I'm thinking around 20k.

I was thinking between 30 and 35k maybes.

I still think they are very capable of selling physical copies and can imagine the album itself selling well. They’ve cleverly tagged on a lot of singles to this album so it’s chart performance should also be pretty strong. #2 would still be a great achievement though in all honesty but this week was their best shot at #1 i imagine Sam could outsell the vamps ik they didn’t know about Ariana at the time though).

I wonder how this will do in the US as well. They are quite big there aren’t they! Possible top 3 debut for there as well?

Lol y’all do realize Thrill did 97k with just ONE successful compared to Ari’s 65k and Love Goes singles have charted much better than their last era... don’t underestimate them!

Also.. their upcoming livestream concert album had the option of bundling the album with the tickets, and Sam obviously has fanbase maybe not the kind for example “Stan Culture” but the kind that would but their album on the name alone

60k - 80k

Yes, but that was back in 2017 when album sales were still really high. Also, I think Sam has lost a lot of the hype that they used to have. I want the album to smash but I just can't see it.

you really think sam's gonna do 80K?

if the label wasn't pushing and sending Spotify checks like crazy I would have expected 8K maybe like Katy Perry

but since the label is big pushing, maybe 20K

but I think they're gonna be closer to 20K than to 80K

all the latest singles have bombed. Diamonds is a payola-hit, not a real hit, a song that starts at #5 on Hot Hits and cannot even go top 20... where's the interest?

The original SS3 was literally selling out everywhere before the delay and with so many singles that’s been released, perhaps some of its hype has shortened, the era already has its hits.. so I’m quite optimistic nevertheless, we shall see
Diamonds is literally projected to go top 20 as of right now.
Yes, cos half of the top hits are on ACR, not really on merit
8k to 20k, um... literally MAJORITY of the loves goes singles (meaning expect My Oasis) have peaked in the top 20, with three in the top 10, I know Sam has an high standard but let’s forget this era is already bigger than their last era, chart wise.. so obviously their not doing less than 20k, what delusion..

Sam has more performances coming for Diamonds to at least peak in the top 10, with their future platinum selling incoming.
