Blair Admits Iraq War 'Disaster' Saturday November 18, 07:22 AM

Tony Blair has admitted that the war in Iraq could be seen as a disaster. But the Prime Minister insisted Britain would not walk away from the country's troubles. Challenged by Sir David Frost on the new English language al Jazeera television channel that the western intervention in Iraq had "so far been pretty much of a disaster", he responded: "It has."

He continued: "But you see what I say to people is why is it difficult in Iraq?

"It's not difficult because of some accident in planning, it's difficult because there's a deliberate strategy ... to create a situation in which the will of the majority for peace is displaced by the will of the minority for war."

He insisted: "We are not walking away from Iraq. We will stay for as long as the government needs us to stay.

"Our task has got to be to stand up for the moderates and the democrats against the extremists and the sectarians."

Mr Blair added: "They are testing our will at the moment, and our will has not to be found wanting."

He also sent out an appeal to Iran and Syria to become partners of the West in the search for peace in the Middle East.

At last! Blair appears to be thinking what the rest of us are thinking.... one thing - how do people feel about Al Jazeera news station, now being presented in English by David Frost? This is the station that calls Palestinian suicide bombers 'heroes and martyrs'...? Is there REALLY a place for this station on UK televisions?

I think its a VILE station and am very disappointed in the likes of Frost for taking the money to tarnish his good name on a station that is a mouthpiece for terrorist groups and has clear Al Qaeda sympathies

As for Bliar it is just spin coming from his mouth, no apologies for defying the UN or lying about WMD's

I detest the propaganda that comes out of Al Jazeera, but at the same time, I dont think it's any worse than the utter Pro-Neo Con garbage that comes out of news stations like Fox News or Sky News to be honest, just a different sort of sh!tty propaganda...

I dont think B-liar can really deny that the war is an utter disaster anymore, and he's still refusing to apologise for lying or going against the UN or murdering 20-odd thousand innocent Iraqis.... And he's only saying this after Bush has already done so, so obviously it's okay for him to admit it now, his Master Dubya has okayed it..... <_<

I still think it is wrong though Britons going out there and working for that station, any Briton that goes out there and broadcasts for that station to me is the equivalent of a modern day Lord Haw Haw, I am against the war in Iraq but now that we are there and British soldiers are being slaughtered by Al Qaeda I do not think Britons should be broadcasting for a station that at the very least has a close relationship with Al Qaeda or might even be funded by them (strange how they always get the Osama videos first etc)

Apparently the station has banned all employees from the traditional journalist knees-ups. Each employee has been told to follow strict codes of conduct - no drink, sensible dress, a strict toe-the-company-line-or-else.

David Frost should hang his head in shame.
