- The semifinalists for Finland have been revealed: they include Laura Voutilainen (who represented Finland in 2002), Thunderstorm (whose lead singer sang back-ups with Lordi this year) and the winner of Finland's Pop Idol 2004.

- Albania will be the first country to reveal this song, already in December.

- Nanne Gronvahl (who represented Sweden as member of One More Time in 1996 and was in the UK final in 2001) is running again for her country. The same happens with Anders Lunstedt, member of Alcazar (of thge hit "Crying At The Discotheque" and who reprsented Switzerland this year as part of Six4One. Alcazar tried twice to go for Eurovision in 2003 and 2005. Gronvahl's and Lunstedt's songs are among the 28 finalists for the Melodifestival 2007.

- Israel will return to a national selection instead of the usual final.

- Zerrin Ozer is the most likely name to represent Turkey in 2007

- Swiss superstar DJ Bobo has shown interest in representing his country in Eurovision.

 Nanne again?! Her Song For Europe (UK) a few years ago was really bad. It was called Men.

Not nescessarily...

Switzerland, Andorra and Albania are having internal selections and have all said that their songs will be announced before the year is out. Although Albania will probably be the first song we get to hear.

I prefer it when they wait till February/March time, Eurovision fever shouldn't kick in until about then imo.

On a complete side note, I wish they wouldn't always have the ESC in the middle of May. :arrr: I have friend's birthdays on the 12th and 17th and they nearly ALWAYS clash with ESC. -_- It pisses me off so much, especially this year as the Eurovision is on the 12th!!! Amazingly though, I've only missed it once. ^_^ In 2004, I arrived home at about 9.45pm and just as I sat down Lena Phillipsson was finishing.

2007 will be the first year I will be able to watch ESC from home with no bloody housemasters telling me to go to bed and roommates questioning my sexuality

i can give u some news on Macedonia:

we are back on our Festival-1 night national final(will be held prob in February with a live big band like back in the days)

the concurse 4 the songs is open since November 15 til Dec.15th so we might get the names of the artist and songs till new years or in early January and there will be 15songs competing in the final!

Well it doesn't really matter what your selection process is - you guys will make the final anyway!

and why do u think it will be like that???

I am not going to bring "political voting" into this as it will spark the age old debate. So leaving that to one side, basically FYROM's songs have been pretty rubbish these last two years, and Elena gave the most off-key performance of the year last year - but you guys still made it through :P

I mean, if the new selection process brings a great song then fantastic, but whether it's great or not, I'd say you're pretty much guaranteed a spot in the final.

well I know that Elena didn't gave her best performance but I personally love that song and voted 4 her on our national contest and she has such a great voice u should hear some of her other live performances  she was 2 nervous on the ESC :(

and please don't say FYROM anymore 2 me I live in MACEDONIA :P

and theres no such thing as "political voting" cause the former Yuguslav republics votwe 4 each others cause the artist they send are pretty popular all over the balkans and the songs are already hits here so people vote 4 them ^_^ and so does the scandinavian & soviet countries !!!

Hmm well I did like Elena, but Political Voting DOES happen, far too much. -_-

Fair enough, but 99% of Europe only ever saw Elena's Eurovision performance, yet she still got through. I'm not saying it's "political voting," because I knew you'd disagree, but somehow, MACEDONIA (which is way harder to type but oh well) get through every time

I think people from former Yugoslavia republics tend to vote too much on the their neighbouring countries.

That's why Croatia, Macedonia and Bosnia are always passing through the finals, independently of the quality of the songs. Slovenia seems to be the exception.
