November 29, 20204 yr One of your most "stable" charts of the year I think - not much volatility, just shuffling of places, and some great new entries. Jona Lewie is one of those rare xmas classics I always have time for. The Korgis track I have grown to love much more than I liked it a lot at the time, just gorgeous. Flash is great fun, and The Vapors is running late to the party! :) There's a few European tracks I don't know, but other than that it could be my chart in a slightly different order. That's a good thing! I need to crack on with 1980 I'm still stuck in Sept or Oct I think!
November 29, 20204 yr I mean Air Supply, Sheena Easton and Shakin' Stevens are new artists from 1980. But yeah, the next year will be a breakout year for many artists! Thank you for your comment! Yeh 81 was when the 80s started in terms of a new style etc with the New Romantics - Shaky and the like are fairly standard acts that follow on in the line with 70s acts similar to them

December 14, 20204 yr aww lovely to see John Lennon on top - my chart did exactly the same that week. I'm running 2 months behind you in my 1980 charts, but most of my faves feature highly in yours and vice versa :) I liked Love On The Racks, as Neil Diamond sings it, some years after I'd gone right off him after being an early fan. I guess it was the inspiration for bondage movies  Babs peaked at 2 in my chart about the same time, so not much difference there either. I bought The Police album and much preferred the album track Canary In A Coalmine to De Do Do Do, my least fave Police single to date and still a candidate for my least-fave Police single overall, from Roxanne onwards. Sadly I didn't allow album tracks in those days or it would have been top 5, along with some Madness tracks a bit lower down as I also bought their album.
December 19, 20204 yr Author Starting Over ❤️ Glad that you like John Lennon at the top. Thank you for your comment!

December 21, 20204 yr Did you not like ‘Happy Xmas(War Is Over)’? I just notice ‘Imagine’ in there now too. Also interesting to see Boney M still having hits in your chart in late 1980, they seemed to disappear very quickly in the uk after two massive years!

December 31, 20204 yr Great to see the John Lennon love, and Imagine entering - my charts were dominated by my hero in december and the new year, eclipsing even Abba. Good to see you liking that Boomtown Rats forgotten reggae oddity, and the big-for-me-in-1981 REO Speedwagon pomprock ballad. You rated Hungry Heart even more than I did at the time by about 15 chart places, though Jona Lewie I loved right off. Devo were huge in the USA but Whip It never really broke in the UK. Good record though. Look forward to the next year you do ! :)
June 19, 20214 yr loved to check your charts from 1980 - I remember every single song... :) Can't wait to see the rest of the 80's...
January 8, 20223 yr Author It's nice to see Maywood (my winner of Eurovision 1990) here. "Late At Night" has been played a lot by my german oldies radio station, that's why I know this song. Thank you for your comment.
