Posted November 19, 200618 yr #53. ^_^ This is pretty respectable, considering it was only top 90 on Tuesday! Just shows what a bit of promo can do. :D I'm fairly pleased with that, shame it couldn't go top 40, but let's hope IITR can. :D
November 19, 200618 yr i bought my copy yesterday, i dont think its in the rain will make top 75 though doubt it will end up being released
November 19, 200618 yr Author i bought my copy yesterday, i dont think its in the rain will make top 75 though doubt it will end up being released Oh it will 99% be released now, after her appearences on Loose Women, GMTV and the WMAs saying it's her new single, it being on loads of release schedules and the cover appearing in places. :D I hope it can make top 75. :(
November 20, 200618 yr I think 53 is poor considering there has been a newspaper and television ad campaign. Plus there were two appearances on tv as well as the world Music Awards. I wasn't expecting Amarantine to rocket into the Top 10. But considering it is her worst selling album in the UK I thought sales this week might have picked up more than number 53. It makes me wonder where have all the fans gone in England? Watermark and Shepherd Moons were in the UK Top 75 for months and months on end. Perhaps the album title and cover has put people off? Perhaps the songs people hear such as Amarantine and It's in the rain are too mid-tempo. Remember that her four biggest hits were far more uptempo....Orinoco, Carribean, Book, Anywhere. Maybe she needs to be more dramatic with her lead songs. Just random thoughts really....but I'm a bit disappointed with 53.

No hit on this album, nothing to make you go whaw, I must go buy that. On the plus side, this is a re-release album so I'm still happy with #53.
November 21, 200618 yr Ben, I'm not disappointed, but I tend to agree with you. No hit on this album, nothing to make you go whaw, I must go buy that. On the plus side, this is a re-release album so I'm still happy with #53. No hit? :o Oh my..I hear several songs with potential if they were just put out there like they should be.. :)
November 21, 200618 yr No hit? :o Oh my..I hear several songs with potential if they were just put out there like they should be.. :) Well, that is equally problematic. Hits that people don't hear are not going to get them to buy the album.
November 21, 200618 yr Usually, christmas-related albums tend to debut lower in November and climb slowly until reaching their peak on the christmas week. At least it´s what happens in USA charts. Not sure if people in UK are too keen on Christmas music, tough.
November 21, 200618 yr Author No hit? :o Oh my..I hear several songs with potential if they were just put out there like they should be.. :) I agree tbh. Many songs have potential, It's In The Rain has potential but won't get enough airplay or videoplay to do great. :( But there is no Orinoco Flow or Anywhere Is on the album I guess. I hope there's a really fast one on her next album. Only If or Wild Child style.
November 21, 200618 yr i cant see her having another big hit although i love her, her no.1 hit days are over
November 22, 200618 yr What about The River Sings? That's up-tempo. Though really TRS is more like a Tempus Vernum song, if you know what I mean. It's not a Wild Child or an Orinoco Flow. But then, Only Time wasn't either. -_-
November 26, 200618 yr Author It is #60 in its second week on the charts, dropped just seven places which isn't bad as the original edition dropped eight places on its second week last year! 8-16.
November 27, 200618 yr I'm glad to see it doing well..I'd love to see one single make it into the top 10..that would be nice. :) If only the songs were promoted better..and not all released on promos and hard to obtain singles..
November 28, 200618 yr Author Think it's sold about 20,000 here in the UK - not a huge amount by any means. It sold roughly 13k in its first week and 7k in the second.
November 29, 200618 yr Well at the 55% mark in the HDD estimates Enya was at #41, with a little over 28.3k sold, the final update is in and the album isn't in the Top50, but it'll be there somewhere, and perhaps has sold a modest 45/50k? :D
November 29, 200618 yr Yeah, if it doesn´t work in UK i´m sure at least in USA it will climb the nearer Christmas is. Xmas albums always chart like this way there: 190-102-47-22(xmas week)-98-200-out. This might push her album to 2x platinum in USA in a few months or years.
December 4, 200618 yr i think it will start climbing th echarts after next week,th enew version is doing quite well over all
