Posted April 10, 20205 yr Hi everyone, I've decided to take the opportunity to take a close look at Scotland's contributions to the Eurovision Song Contest :cheer: I'm starting with a song that brought much national pride to Scotland by winning the contest :o Lulu with "Boom Bang a Bang" was the second winner for the UK (and still the only Scottish winner :(), being one of four victors in 1969 - the UK, France, Spain and the Netherlands all scored 18 points and there wasn't a tie-break rule in place at the time. Lucky for Lulu as she wouldn't have been the winner under any kind of tie-break rules that are in play today :nocheer: 4ew43u2gS0Y What does everyone think of her song and performance? Discuss away
April 10, 20205 yr As someone with proud Scottish heritage, I'd also like to draw attention to the legendary Scott Fitzgerald who came second in 1988 behind some Swiss lady. Absolute robbery.
April 10, 20205 yr Also Lulu is one of the greatest winners of all time but 1969 slapped hard. Vivo Cantando AND The Troubadour also legendary bops.
April 10, 20205 yr Author As someone with proud Scottish heritage, I'd also like to draw attention to the legendary Scott Fitzgerald who came second in 1988 behind some Swiss lady. Absolute robbery. Excuse me, this is an ongoing project and I'd have got to him eventually, no need to jump ahead :) But now he's been mentioned, here is Glasgow-born Scott Fitzgerald with "Go" F09DJR9iiHY We were lucky enough to see him at an event called Eurostarz in August 2018  A travesty that he didn't win tbh, I wonder what ""Céline"" ""Dion"" is doing now, I certainly have never heard of her since the 1988 contest
April 10, 20205 yr Well get there quicker sweetie. Scotland is brimming with Eurovision icons so don’t keep the masses waiting. He’s probably the best live performer I’ve ever seen! (category Scottish eurovision runners up)
April 10, 20205 yr Author Scotland should be in Eurovision themselves tbf BBC Alba have been in talks to take part in Junior Eurovision :cheer: Just like Wales already take part as a separate nation Hopefully once independence happens, it can happen in the main contest as well. The more countries the merrier, and the UK cruelly snubs the Scots :( (So far this century we've had four and a half acts that are Welsh representing us, but not one Scottish act )
April 13, 20205 yr Author Do you mean as much of a flop as "Only The Light" by Rikki, which was our worst result from our first participation in 1957 right up until 2000. Scotland really did us dirty that year :( QJ778bwvxfk Doesn't sound too bad to my ears
April 13, 20205 yr Scotland should be in Eurovision themselves tbf I legit came to post this. I'm sure they have a lot to offer!!!
April 13, 20205 yr Michelle McManus to slay with a Lewis Capaldi written / Calvin Harris produced banger.
