Posted November 20, 200618 yr well..... ive never been a fan, i thought the fashions were totally ridiculous, girly clowns! lol and this did taint my view of the music (prefering the more serious 60's stuff). ive listed my favs from the era, however none qualify in my 'all time' favs list. SWEET.... good pop maybe, but not my cuppa. 'love is like oxygen' was my fav but that was after the glam era. SLADE.... imho the best of the era, 'cos i luv u' was awesome! the use of a fiddle was genius! 'come feel the noize', too was a great uptempo track. overall i quite liked them . GARY GLITTER... didnt like him then, certainly dont now. T.REX....... another failed 60's act, 'deborah' was good '20th centuary boy' my fav. WIZZARD.... spearheaded the rock n roll revival, liked their early material, 'ball park incident', 'see my baby jive' and of course 'i wish it could be crimbo everyday'... arguably the best crimbo track. MOTT THE HOOPLE..... wtf does that mean? pretty good act 'roll away the stone' my fav. DAVID BOWIE..... iconic innovator, huge in the early 70's though i didnt like him. 'john im only dancing' being the only 70's track of his i like.... although i do like later tracks. GLITTER BAND..... spin off outfit... <_< didnt like them either. please feel free to add/comment.
November 20, 200618 yr NEW YORK DOLLS - Sleazy, nasty 'glam', the total flip-side to fluff like T-Rex, The Sweet, etc, the Dolls were Glam with substance (and I'm not talking about the 'substance' they snorted or injected into their veins  )...; Proto-Punk, were a pretty big influence on Johnny Rotten (I'm pretty damn sure he once sported a Dolls T-shirt for a photo-shoot..) and I would argue the whole Punk scene in general.. Sid Vicious once famously sung their praises in one of the Pistols's documentaries...
November 20, 200618 yr I'm sure we had this thread not long ago. Not a fan of T Rex really, my brother kept playing it all the time, got annoying.
November 20, 200618 yr Geordie (Brian Johnson of AC/DC fame's original band, did really great glam rock stuff) and Heavy Metal Kids (Gary Holton of Auf Wiedersehn Pet fame's glam rock band) those 2 are my fave glam rock bands bar Slade

November 21, 200618 yr ROXY MUSIC... for their fabulous style, and their iconic, beautiful artwork.... and some of the best records of the 70s. Such a shame Fascist Ferry is so vile, though..... NEW YORK DOLLS - for Personality Crisis alone... and for having the sexiest lead singer of the 70s.... not too keen on him these days, though - he loks like Iggy Pop's twin sister.

As comeback albums go though, I thought it was pretty damn good, no-nonsense HARD RAWWWKKK!! which shows up a lot of today's acts who are clearly influenced by the Dolls, and a lot better than any other 'reformed' act has done...
November 21, 200618 yr I haven't actually heard the album... loved their TV appearances of late and I liked what I heard, though.
November 21, 200618 yr and Roxy Music... after digging out all the old vinyl I have by them.... surely these covers wouldn't see the light of day in this day and age? They're so outrageously erotic, each one a work of art, really - and unashamedly sexist. I couldn't see them getting away with these in 2006, could you?
