I taped this and I shoudn't have bothered after just watching it, I honestly thought it came across as car crash tv, did Ricky Gervais write the script? what a total waste of an hours prime time viewing, I don't think Gareth came out of this in a good light at all really and duetting with his mother was just cringeworthy, what were his management thinking of?

im sure gareth and co were hoping for a take that return type success but the take that interview was far better
I expected anything exciting to happen, but the whole thing was just bland and he came across as utterly lifeless. The songs he'd written didn't sound bad, but way too many ballads. The whole show was such a mess and terribly produced/edited overall.
i wonder will all his new album be ballads as i think he needs a few up tempo numbers my fave song of his was anyone of us

I agree. There were too many ballads on tonights show. But he seems to want to go down the singer/singwriter road. I have never liked any of his songs, especally his renidition of 'The Unchained Melody' but I always quite liked 'Sunshine''. He should do more upbeat tracks IMO.. ^_^

I love the music, pity they did not show more of it, but I suppose they just wanted to give a little taster of it.

Gareth is looking good, and sounding brilliant. :cheer:

Gareth has got guts! How hard must doing that interview been for him and it showed, looking embarrassed at times. The woman conducting the interview was c**p  He has matured in to a very nice looking young man and if he loses the PI mill-stone, reinvents himself, then I think he will do well.

I thought Changes was lovely :cheer:

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Couldn't get on to post my thoughts last night, so here goes.

I was a little bit disappointed with the content of the program and also with the woman who did the interview and the voice-over. Her voice was quite boring to say the least and she didn't inspire me at all.

That aside, I was very proud of Gareth last night. He did and said just enough without revealing all, to get people interested. The music, the little we did get to hear, was for me, very, very, good.

Gareth addressed the two issues he wanted to put to rest very honourably, without resorting to being nasty. What he said about his new path, left me in no doubts, even though he didn't say it outright, that he was severely restricted in his own personal input whilst he was with BMG, but was in the future going to be doing things his own way.

Considering this is the first interview of this kind Gareth has ever been able to undertake, I think he did it extremely well. The polish will come the more he does them. It was noticeable that in his choice of words (We are, or We want, rather than I am, or, I want) he hasn't quite perfected the way to make people believe that all the decisions regards image and so forth, are totally his own, the way artists more used to giving these type of interviews do. Because lets face it, no matter who you are, or how successful you are, no-one has a free reign. There are always people in the background whom you have to comply with, despite the way we're told otherwise. Hopefully in time, Gareth will be able to do likewise.

As for Gareth himself, well he's always been a very good looking lad, but now he is an extremely handsome young man. He still has that very loveable way with him. Is still not afraid to show his emotions and the fact he loves his family very much. Qualities he won't abandon, just to look `cool'. If those values stop him being accepted as the very good artist he is, then its a very sad world.

I do think, the intention of the program, was to give a few crumbs at the moment, without giving too much away and with just enough of the new music to grab people's interest and leave them wanting to hear more. I think and hope it achieved that aim. I may be slightly biased, but it definitely has with me.

I agree. There were too many ballads on tonights show. ... He should do more upbeat tracks IMO.. ^_^

People who were at the secret gig, which was all filmed, but not shown, said that most of the songs were upbeat. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for any of those, as they were too busy showing him in the supermarket car-park, which is obviously what we should be more interested in.

What I heard I liked, and I am really looking forward to hearing more from the album. He says he's done the photo-shoot for the album cover now.

I've just read the new record label is 19 Recordings Ltd/UMTV. Is that a branch of Universal Records, does anyone know

Parent Label: Universal Records

Oh wow, thanks for telling us. They only in passing mentioned on the program about him having been signed now. :D

I was dissapointed they did not show more of the music, having been to the gig, I know that lots of the songs are upbeat, and even some of the slower starting ones go fast and rocky in the chorus. What they did show does not reflect that at all. :(

He looked hot imo. His voice sounded fab and the songs from the small bits we heard sounded interesting. I didn't think much of the production as a whole but he came out of it well.

I don't particularly like Gareth but I was a bit curious so I watched a little bit. I wasn't that impressed, but as I said I only watched a bit so can't really judge fairly. I did think that some of his new music sounds quite good, but I'm still not keen on his voice.

Good luck to him :)

I know, it almost looks like they did not really want to promote his music on the show, just show him and put a few things straight.

I do hope that we will be able to see the gig, they filmed after all, one day. :D

Happy x-mas everyone.

He wants to base his style on Russ Brand?!???

Oh, Gareth...only HE can get away with it.

Gareth said he likes those kind of clothes, and that he already wears similar when going out now. He has his own style, and knows what he likes, and with the cuttings made sure, his wishes will be taken into consideration.

It looks like the program helped the sales of his former album on Amazon.

What My Heart Wants To Say was 24978th in Amazon's music chart 4 hours before the doc was shown on tv and is now 2111th.

Go Your Own Way was 34602nd in the amazon music chart and is now 752nd.
