Posted April 26, 20205 yr Hi and welcome to NMTBJ: The Results. Thank you to the 27 of you who entered. :D Results should begin in about 15 mins. But I will probably have to leave about halfway through for an hour or so and then resume later on. Some fun facts: The most popular song had 26/27 correct guesses and by far the most obscure song only had 2 correct guesses. Feel free to speculate on which they are. April 26, 20205 yr Author 1. Samim - Heater 2007, #12 xJU5B_GU79U Correct (17): Infludexton*, DalekTurret32, paulgilb, dan.G*, girlsaloudjunkie, Mack., M4NGO, vibe, Dobbo, Rush, Jade, coi, StoneDragon, jimwatts, MrAndrewMan, Zárate, Breraldine, Other Answers: Vato Gonzalez (Fisher) Diplo (Beverly) DJ Otzi (Jordan Lee) Edward Maya - Stereo Love (Dan17F1) In theory this should be the easiest one to guess if you've heard the song as it is an instrumental. This proved to be the case with an impressive 17 correct answers. It's certainly a very distinctive song with a sample from a song by a 1950's Colombian accordionist (Alberto Pacheco). One of the more bizarre hits of the time, the sheer randomness of the song is what always dragged me back to it. Throughout my childhood, I used to buy all of the Now CDs and this was one of my favourite tracks from its particular edition. The incorrect guesses are on the right lines. The song certainly does have a Stereo Love feel to it.
April 26, 20205 yr Hooray *.* 'Heater' was a brilliant start to this round! I did like it at the time but it has grown into a proper favourite over the years
April 26, 20205 yr Author 2. Jorja Smith ft Stormzy - Let Me Down 2018, #34 gaEPYljtIAw Correct (4): DalekTurret32, vibe, coi, Jordan Lee Other Answers: OneRepublic - Apologise (Infludexton*, West) Ariana Grande (dan.G*) Adele (Dobbo) Faithless (Fisher) Leona Lewis (Jade) Adele - Hometown Glory (jimwatts, Dan17F1) Freya Ridings (Beverly) OneRepublic - Apologize (West) Now for one of the lowest peaking hits in this game and the 2nd most obscurely guessed song. Jorja's voice is incredibly and I properly fell in love with her as an artist when I watched her Glastonbury performance from last year on TV. I love how dark this song is, it is what convinced my that she would have been my pick to sing the latest James Bond theme but, alas, it wasn't to be. Be Honest obviously became her proper breakout hit , reaching the top 10 last year. I can't wait to see what she comes back with next. Two guesses for Apologize by OneRepublic and also for Adele for which I can see both. It's now worth noting that Bre said he guesses Ariana Grande for every song he didn't get. Unfortunately I didn't want to repeat artist from my first quiz so she doesn't appear. :o
April 26, 20205 yr Only four people got Let Me Down? :o I thought/hoped it was more well known than that!
April 26, 20205 yr Oh oops, I definitely know 'Let Me Down' from its appearance in the chart but the instrumental isn't particularly distinctive for me
April 26, 20205 yr Author Only four people got Let Me Down? :o I thought/hoped it was more well known than that! I was expecting it to be one of the least guessed but I wasn't expecting the number to be that low. Really sorry that I didn’t have time to enter this yesterday It's alright :D
April 26, 20205 yr Author 3. Lil Wayne ft Static Major - Lollipop 2008, #26 2IH8tNQAzSs Correct (16): Infludexton*, DalekTurret32, n4yr, dan.G*, girlsaloudjunkie, Mack., M4NGO, vibe, Dobbo, Fisher, Scene, Rush, StoneDragon, MrAndrewMan, Zárate, Jordan Lee Other Answers: T.I. - Whatever You Like (Jade) Eminem - Not Afraid (jimwatts) Tinie Tempah (Beverly) Flo Rida - Low (Dan17F1) I wanted to use Wayne's epic, operatic 'Mona Lisa' but I thought no-one would actually know it so I instead went with his much less well-regarded breakthrough hit. Any song that unironically begins with 'no homo' certainly hasn't aged well  This spent 5 weeks atop the Billboard chart but was never able to match the success in the UK. I remember I only heard this because my sister had a CD with all the big rap and r&b hits from the US on it and I would constantly take it to listen to this and Chris Brown's 'Kiss Kiss'. Wayne is known for not writing any lyrics down and freestyling it in the booth and on this song you can kinda tell, no matter how much I love it. A young Tyga cameos in the video. RIP to Static Major who died just two weeks before this song was released. If you take anything away from this post, it's listen to Mona Lisa!
April 26, 20205 yr sorry I didn't take part, I saw you pm and had planned to do it yesterday but got a family emergency and didn't have time next time :)
April 26, 20205 yr I didn't know that Jorja Smith track at all but it's pretty epic. Will definitely be listening again.
April 26, 20205 yr Author 4. Little Mix - Shout Out To My Ex 2016, #1 bFDzhKdrN9M Correct (18): Infludexton*, DalekTurret32, n4yr, dan.G*, girlsaloudjunkie, M4NGO, Dobbo, Fisher, Scene, Jade, coi, StoneDragon, jimwatts, MrAndrewMan, Zárate, Jordan Lee, Dan17F1, mdh Other Answers: Pussycat Dolls - Buttons (paulgilb) Madonna (Beverly) I've been a fan of Little Mix since X-Factor and this is my favourite song of theirs. This certainly represents the peak of their popularity, spending 3 weeks at #1 after being debuted live on the X Factor Results show. I finally got to see them live last year and heaving this song was a highlight. I was looking forward to seeing them perform it again in July but of course that's no longer happening :( It also peaked at #69 on the Billboard chart :P Stream Break Up Song!!!
