'Simply Deep', released on October 22nd 2002, was the debut studio album released by Kelly Rowland during Destiny's Child's hiatus. The album was released following the international success of Dilemma with Nelly and showed the world that Kelly could hold her own when apart from Destiny's Child. The album included guest appearances from Nelly, Solange (Knowles), and Joe Budden. The album won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2003 Grammy Awards for Dilemma which went on to become the 11th most successful song in the US from 2000-2009. Simply Deep was a #1 album in the UK however missed the Top 10 entirely in the US! Whilst Dilemma was an insanely huge hit and launched Kelly's career, the album also features great singles in Stole, Can't Nobody, and Train On A Track.

This was the first Kelly Rowland album I ever listened to in full when I first got properly into Destiny’s Child. The singles are all the best on the album for the most part with Dilemma being an absolute classic known by everyone. Stole is also underrated especially in the US where I fully would’ve expected it to have a much higher peak. I do think Love/Hate would’ve been a fantastic single had it been given the chance - it’s as Destiny’s Child as she gets on this album which could’ve been a great way to bridge the group with her solo career (in fact if it were the slightest bit more upbeat I could very easily hear it on Survivor.

Not a great album

Past 12 should have been a single. It would have been a bit in the UK !!
