Ella is ending up on quite an odd position.

Quite a lot of dance music success (although she isn’t ‘cool’), but naturally drawn, gifted re melancholic ballads and Soul, RnB.

Her best chance of longevity remains I think following an Adele 2 type approach. But for that she needs very strong songs. And she probably has to realise her own songwriting isn’t good enough on its own. A tough self realisation.

She isn’t going to write a dance track on her own.

She did write the Glorious EP (which is her ‘real’ music) and it wasn’t great...

But what would be great would be to establish a longer term close relationship with another writer.

I think the Adele approach is good, pair up with other top songwriters to write songs, it does work
Pairing with good strong song writers would be of huge benefit to get her career to a new level.
out today

Just checked Apple Music, thanks.

I like it, it’s just not what I was hoping for. I think this would work well as a piano ballad, like Yours or Missed. Still move though.

Added to Radio 1 B list!

(Spotify is still a major problem with this going top 40).

Ps. That isn’t really ‘acoustic’ is it!?

It’s a pleasant enough stripped down version, but has synth on it.

Guess we’ll get a remix soon as well..

I think she should be happy enough with the performance of this.

It’s has decent radio support and been in the iTunes top 20 for approaching 3 weeks.

Just missing Spotify Hot Hits to make it into the top 40.

Her next move, when and what, is an interesting one.

She probably needs a 6 to 8 week pause then release her EP with another strong single. To me it needs to be an upbeat pop song, not dance or a ballad....

Its done far better than i thought it would so i think she will be happy enough with how its went for her and hopefully she can have a few more weeks on the chart.
Back up to 55 in todays mids so a 5th week top 75 looks safe :cheer:

That's surprised me! I hope it can beat its current peak position of #55 in that case.

at the end of the day it's the label's fault this is under-performing

they send a big check to Apple Music to have the song as track #1 on their playlist

but they do nothing for Spotify... that's a useless tactic...
