Posted November 23, 200618 yr Lucas and Kay join for charity single Daily Mirror.co.uk Matt Lucas and Peter Kay are to record a cover version of Proclaimers hit I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) for Comic Relief. Both comics are known to be fans of the Scottish band. Lucas wrote sleeve notes for their greatest hits album, while Kay joined the band on stage at Live8 last year. The band will provide backing vocals on the single, which charity chiefs hope will emulate the success of the version of Tony Christie's Amarillo, which sold a million copes for Red Nose Day last year thanks to the Peter Kay video. A Red Nose Day spokesman told the Daily Mirror: ‘The Comic Relief single is hugely important to us, it is a great fundraiser.’ This week Peter Kay sold the purple suit he wore on the Amarillo video on eBay, raising £790 for a Bolton children’s hospice. Is this a good or bad choice for a charity single?
November 23, 200618 yr  It'll probably go to number one, here's hoping it doesn't destroy the original which really should have hit the top :(

November 23, 200618 yr it's a fantastic idea, and will surely be the biggest ever single for Comic Relief - 2 of Britain's best loved comedians on one single - it can only sell a million. I hate the song, but I can't wait to hear these 2 singing it - and the video will be awesome. My favourite Comic Relief single was Bananarama with French and Saunders and Kathy Burke - how that missed number one is anyone's business - hilarious. Does anyone remember them doing this live on the actual Comic Relief show? With the dancers 'Raw Sex'.... it ended up in a custrad pie fight - classic telly.
November 23, 200618 yr Well i love the original, and i'm glad they're back to making PURE comedy records for comic relief eg. Help, Living Doll etc instead of just giving a song to the latest pop act. And with that combination, you can't go wrong.
November 24, 200618 yr I can't wait to see the video, I can just see Matt Lucas marching to this in his black pvc shorts.
November 24, 200618 yr It could be great. Remember one of the big objectives of a charity record is to raise the profile of the charity, and this will do that. It will be easily identifiable as the Comic Relief song. I hope they do a good job and it sells well too. Does anyone think The MacDonald Brothers will sing this on X Factor tomorrow?
