With Coronavirus forcing EastEnders off the air for the first time ever in its 35 year history after tonight, should this make a response to all soaps having an offseason anyway? Could you live three months or so without EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks every year? The positive is that it would improve the quality and keep fans interested without being fed up or fatigued of a storyline.

I don’t know about an off season BUT I would happily have the soaps on as they are now with less episodes per week.

I think if they cut episodes back as a permanent thing it could mean better storylines and less filler type stories as well. I think some of the soaps (mainly Emmerdale at the minute) was kinda suffering from being on 6 times a week but without any major stories.

I’d rather that than an off season. If the soaps were to have an off season though I’d like them to all take them separately!

HO being off from early Dec - to early Jan as that always gets lost in the Xmas / new year soap war anyway and it’s not usually when HO is at its strongest.

ED from mid March - mid April

CS end May - end June (like leave BGT week as it’s “finale”)

EE from September - October.

The only thing is an off season could mean people could want to quit if they’re losing out on like a months pay each year.
