with today's numbers I'd say were probs looking at around ~35k to 37k. it sold 3,002 copies today. I feel it'll probs do 5k over the next two days to take us to 28k and then with streaming boost I think we'll end around 36k which'd be incredible!

I loved this album the first time I heard but it keeps getting better with every listen. There are new things to hear each time, its beautiful.
This was a pleasant surprise! I wasn't really sure what to expect going into it, but it blew me away. My favourites from it are "the last great american dynasty", "mirrorball" and "august"

I haven’t been on here for quite a long time but I also haven’t been this addicted to an album in about as much time. This album is pure genius - a lyrical and addictive masterpiece. Every listen unveils further depth and mystery. Epiphany is quite possibly the most beautiful song written, reverberating with poignancy and sadness while Exile chills to the core. Great work Taylor - I really hope it does well.

Is Cardigan being taken up well by radio?

ahh fabulous to see your loving the album and it's brought you back here  I'm with you on epiphany, it gives me chills every single time I hear it <3 <3

cardigan is doing solidly so far but significantly way less in comparison to her last few lead singles. in the US its airplay is pretty weak but not non existent and the UK should really kick in on Friday hopefully with Radio 1 playlisting it on the A list. I'm not sure about capital? and nothing from Radio 2 yet aha

Ok soooo I finally got around to listening to this and safe to say my skepticism of it has turned out to not really be warranted, this is a really good album. Gonna have to be a bit basic and say my fave is 'cardigan', that song really kind of blew me away on first listen the other day and is still standing above everything else after hearing the rest of it so I think she's made the perfect choice for the single, the instrumentation sounds so lush on it  My other biggest faves on first listen are 'epiphany', 'august' and 'exile' (this one was a bit slow to start off with but it really kicks into gear when they start singing together) then on top of those I am also really liking 'the last great american dynasty', 'seven', 'my tears ricochet' and 'mad woman' so that's a full half of the album that I'd rank as major highlights!

As for the other half of the songs, I think most of them are at least pleasant to listen to, the only one that I'm not really liking at all is 'betty'. I also think the album both starts and ends on pretty weak notes, 'the 1', 'peace' and 'hoax' are all nice enough but definitely among my least favourites. So basically if the album was just tracks 2 to 13 then it would be nearly perfect for me

Let 'cardigan' get the Hot 100 #1 expeditiously pls

Thank you for the info re: radio. Great that it is being added to radio 1’s A-list. I can’t see any sight of it on Capital’s list as of yet. Given the sudden release, hopefully it will be a slow burner in the USA on radio and pick up momentum.

Very excited to see first week units sold for the album and songs. 500k+ Physical units sold for the album is awesome given the circumstances.

But what I’m most proud of is that Taylor has produced something that is true to herself.

another increase from the previous day!!! maybe we sneak out 40k omg just?!?!

yeah hopefully capital will playlist something soon but I feel there gonna play this era dust aha  hopefully aha, I really hope it doesn't slowly rise and then just suddenly starts dropping (like all my fave songs seem to be recently on US radio )

She really recorded her best album in such a short space of time with this

Regarding the release of this because of how well this has went down could this potentially be the new norm now for Taylor and we’ll get surprise drops from now on?

5th number #1 album :cheer: 37k sales! the 5th female artist ever to score 5+ UK #1's!!!

37k is made up of 67% streams, 33% downloads.

so something like 24,790 from streams + 12,210 from downloads (idk the exact sales figure apart from 37k rn!)

She would have far more, but for capping rules. Tracks from Folklore also notionally occupy positions 13, 15, 18, 21, 24, 31, 36, 37, 40, 42, 45 and 51 but are disqualified and thus "starred-out" from the published listing.

So;

13. The last great American dynasty

15. My tears ricochet

18. August

21. Mirrorball

24. Seven

31. This is me trying

36/37/40 - invisible string/illicit affairs/betty/mad woman

42. Epiphany

45. Peace

51. Hoax

Ffs the sales report is missing one position so who knows  The top 6 sound right but everything else could be wrong

EDIT: 34. Illicit affairs

36. Invisible string

37. Betty

40. Mad woman

exile is... actually really good :o I'm realising recently that I'm a massive fan of male/female duets (three of them have been #1 on my Personal Chart this year) and this is no exception.

823k this done in US, 584k in pure sales! Pretty amazing when it wasn't available to buy instore.

Taylor Swift has flexed her superstar muscle once again. With her surprise album folklore, the Republic icon dropped the year’s biggest debut to date, owning #1 on the HITS Top 50 with 823k. The set earns Swift her largest streaming week ever, with 275m+ on-demand audio streams. It’s also the biggest bow since her 2019 album, Lover (867k), which increased 64% this week and leapt to #15.

Among the records Tay broke with this album: the most first-day album streams by a female artist on Spotify (80.6m); the most streams for a pop album in its first 24 hours on Apple Music (35.5m); and the most U.S. and Global streams at Amazon Music for an Indie/Alternative album.

Earning 584k in pure sales, Swift’s folklore is now the #1 best-selling album in that category.

Amazing news and very well deserved. I was expecting results like this in the US but three top 10s in the U.K. from an album in this genre is fantastic. Excited and intrigued to see how this will do in its second week.
