The pundits kept wittering on that it was a peaceful protest, which it came to light halfway through the show it wasn't. Have to be really careful with this sort of stuff as Neville, Carragher and Keane especially had absolutely no idea what was going on (as do none of us really). Agree with the sentiment of the protest, but breaking in to the ground is another thing. What I found really uncomfortable was a few of the pundits were really justifying it. Neville especially kept comparing the scenes to Liverpool's owners in 2010 and now, he completely lost it.

I don’t think they knew the enormity of it at the time and were giving the football side of things which they are passionate about. But some of the w*n**rs who broke into the ground were just that!

Our plan was to get the Manchester United game delayed or abandoned

Jamie from the United We Stand fanzine was one of the supporters who invaded the pitch. He describes the day

Some have asked, if United could have won the league on Sunday would we have done that? It’s a very good question. Hand on heart I think some of us yes, but I don’t think you’d have had 10,000 there.

Not sure you're supposed to say that Jimmy. Anyway, I've lost all sympathy for them now. They wouldn't do that if they were going to win the title making the whole point meaningless.

That’s not what he said at all 🙄

The quotes are right there! If there is a league title on the line - there is no way a protest of that scale happens.

I don't think winning a league title had anything to do with what happened yesterday. With City only needing 3 more points to win the league there is nothing anyone can do to stop them being the champions and yesterday only just delayed the inevitable. Yesterday's match would have been our first home match in the league since the news about the ESL broke so if a protest was going to happen that would have always been the likely day for it. Arsenal and Chelsea fans protested around their home stadiums on the day of their first home league match after the news broke out also.

Certainly bizarre scenes at Old Trafford, not what anyone wants to see in these times even if the owners aren't great.

Amazing that Leeds can hold their own against Man U and Liverpool but not against Brighton  Certainly not the one I'd have predicted us to lose out of this current streak of matches!

I think that’s a lazy analysis of the situation tbh Roo, United fans formed their own club over a decade ago after all. The ESL was the tipping point this time round but relationships have been stressed since they came.

The Premier League is to bring in a new owners' charter to stop future attempts to join a breakaway Super League.

It follows Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham agreeing to join the failed European Super League last month.

All owners will have to sign up to the new rule "committing them to the core principles" of the league with breaches punished by "significant" sanctions.

The Football Association said an inquiry into the six clubs has started.

Yeah it didn't. I meant if the situation was flipped and United were 2 points behind City - there is no way the protests attempt to stop the game. All fans have protested, but none of them have actually actively tried to stop the game going ahead by blocking the teams hotels. The ground stampede was obviously not planned and opportunist but still, there was no need for it. There was a perfectly good home game on Thursday night too. Can't wait to see the scale of the protests before the Europa League final.

They've hated the Glazers since they came in in 2005 which is fine - they're arseholes which I totally get. And the next person that buys them will probably be an arsehole too.Or a humans rights abuser. You can hardly say they are not competitve though, they still manage to spend millions every season. My point was that a protest like yesterday does not happen if United are in a title challenge and for that reason (along with the vile shite they always sing) it weakens their stance and gets zero sympathy from me.

In my 4 years as ST holder, sat in the Scoreboard end near the away fans, it was ALWAYS the Liverpool fans at OT starting shit off by singing about Munich. Your lot are as bad if not worse so get off your high horse.

Glazers/Woodward spent wildly on useless shite and their spendthrift ways are extremely well documented.

And while you quoted his word, your interpretation of said words =/= what was said OR meant by them.

I don't even know why im bothering. Am as well having a conversation with a brick wall

Yes, we sing horrible songs about you when we play you, not when we're lobbing bottles at police and they've got their riot gear on.

You're not talking to a brick wall at all. Man Utd have spent money, who cares if what they have bought is crap they have still spent the money.

Man Utd would not block the players to their coaches or even attempting to enter the ground if the game actually mattered or they had a chance of winning the league. The article says as much, every podcast that has a Man Utd supporter that I've listened to today have said as much when they've been asked the question. Why couldn't they do this against Roma? Are they gonna do this after the Europa League if they win it? Nah of course they're not.

Now we've lost any competitive advantage to play against you, have our own fixture pile up. This season can well and truly do one :D

I think we have let local rivalries get in the way of the actual point.

Course they were going to protest before the biggest game in the club football calendar as it will get the most publicity!

But they wouldn’t do it before the Europa League final. Or if they winning the league (to the same scale). Like I say, a lot of this comes down to frustration from not signing the players they want to or winning the league. Of course the hardcores will be there still, but you wouldn’t get the volume. The irony being Fergie is the main reason the Glazers are in control of the club in the first place!

I’m biased of course I am, but the point is the protest is about their owners who take a lot of the club but do actually invest in the club without Utd having to sell ANY of their star players. The only time they’ve ever done that is Ronaldo and even then they got an extra season out of him.

Anyway away from this, Che Neville has a lot to answer for. Winds me up how people think he’s some saviour of football. He was in the Glazers’ pockets for years, this is the first time he’s ever spoken out about them directly. This is not forgetting the guy has bankrolled a non-league club to league football either.

All I want is Man United to be sold to a fit and proper owner.

Unfortunately Mack, that’s unlikely to ever happen. The clubs are just too expensive, either the shares get sold in small batches over a long period of time or you get some human rights abuser as your owner. The only change that can probably ever happen IMO is some sort of fan group consultation with major decisions or an honorary fan representative on the board. As much as people like the idea of the 50+1 rule, it’s not going to happen.

That's true,

What happened on Sunday, I can understand the protests but not the scenes at the ground or block the bus from leaving. We don't want to see that in football. I wanted to see a great match between a great rivalry between Man United and Liverpool.

I know as fans we are frustrated with Sunday and the ESL.

Not sure I'd class a United victory or a 0-0 draw as a great match! But we have lost our minor competitive advantage now which is really annoying as our record at OT is horrendous save for the Houllier years for a short time.

Let's be honest what happened was far more interesting than the inevitable 0-0 dull draw  Mind you, that's some elaborate way to delay City winning the title.

All those protests yet only one solitary arrest? Police clearly DGAF. Compare their handling of that to the Clapham vigil eh!

No doubt it was hijacked by thugs who see a protest and just wanna stir up some trouble cos they're bored of lockdown. I don't think any of those people in the stadium were diehards at all.

We should field our reserves and youth players in the game against Leicester as there's no point risking injury for our main players and our place in the top 4 will probably be confirmed by then.
