Unthinkable what's happened to Pool this season of late, they used all their goals up in the Palace match!

I think it mainly has to be burnout. You can't keep up Klopp's insane energy levels with pretty much the exact same starting XI for season after season, legs are gone. Will be interesting to see if he can turn it around because this similar scenario played out at Dortmund and we all know what happened there...

I think there are a few issues but burnout isn't one of them. There is obviously some confidence and mental fatigue and lack of crowds has had an adverse effect on our adrenaline levels. Yes, I know it affects everyone but it's also no surprise that some teams (Everton, West Ham, Man Utd) are playing much better without fans there. But that's only a minor part. The main part is the CB issue, we are toothless in attack because we can't press because we no longer have Gomez/Virgil in defence and thus we play 15 yards deeper. Our whole style of play is built around transition, pressing at key moments but we can barely do that because we are not high enough.

The media and people forget that we had the farcical Everton game and injuries/covid to every single player. The problem is this isn't an issue we can just turn around overnight. If we signed a CB in Jan 1st I'd say we were title challengers, but failure to sign a CB is criminal by our owners. You can't plan for 2 long term knee injuries and Klopp clearly doesn't trust Williams/Phillips and neither do I, because one is nowhere near ready and the second is a Championship player.

I just think of Rhys Williams being outpaced earlier in the month at anfield, think it was against West Brom?

KDB ruled out for 6 weeks, that's huge as that includes all of City's tough February games which I alluded to earlier.

I know they managed without him for the 17/18 season but without him OR Aguero I think(/hope) City will struggle. Also as soon as they play a top calibre team Stones is gonna be found out, like he always is.

Yeah West Brom and against Louie Barry too at Villa U23s. Which is expected as he is a 19 year old CB who played National League North last season. if we play a high line we can be done by a simple ball over the top, teams would try that aginst us, but Gomez and Virgil are two of the fastest players in the league so there was little point.

City won't be found out defensively Dobbo, at least not with Stones. The way they play currently means that are no suspect to 1 on 1 situations and overexposed. It might mean they struggle to break teams down more though. Man Utd are going to luck out at some point this season surely.

Chelsea are set to sack Frank Lampard according to media reports. Normally when these kind of stories break it always actually happens.

Tuchel coming in apparently, I guess they are worried about not getting Top 4 and Havertz/Werner not settling properly. The Mason Mount jokes are gold right now.

At least this also takes the heat off of Liverpool for a few days in the press too.. good timing!

One of the least surprising sackings in recent years. Too big a job too early in his managerial career. Brought in to appease the fans & steady the ship following the transfer ban but has been found out completely this season and doesn't have the can't spend no money excuse to fall back on.

Edited by Dobbo.

Strange choice if they were going to sack him after less than two seasons!
i think the man city game was probably the game that got him sacked - they demolished chelsea with a weak team

Think it was the Leicester one that really did him as they looked liked a relegation team in that game never mind competing for the title.

But as we know Chelsea managers are only ever 3 or 4 bad results away from the sack. Give it 2 seasons and we'll be having this exact convo about Tuchel.

Tuchel is destined to fail, he did the absolute bare minimum that would be expected at both Dortmund and PSG. But again, he will know what he is getting himself in for and will be well compensated and will get another job at some point.

As expected

Chelsea have appointed former Paris St-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel as their new manager on an 18-month contract with an option to extend it.
