Charlotte Church has parted company with her record label SonyBMG due to TV commitments and a book coming out early next year. She plans to return to music in 2008 and I expect that SonyBMG's decision to part with her has something to do with the poor sales of her debut pop album and the flops of her past two singles. I personally quite liked her solo pop singles though apparantly her album 'Tissues and Issues' was very boring and bland.

Let's Be Alone was amazing. I'm sure Charlotte will be back with a pop album of some description, but if she's enjoying the tv show, then it's right she focuses on that for a while. It's proving to be very successful and her duets at the end means she's still singing, and gaining herself an excellent reputation.

Source?

Though I wouldn't be surprised.

It's an exclusive in this week's Heat magazine.

I'm surprised, as I thought her debut pop album was really quite good, but she blew it by not releasing the stand-out track "Mood Swings" until the 4th & final single.

i was surprised at the quality of her album :D

although i'm not surprised at her being dropped -_-

No surprise but I'm sure she was signed to release 2 albums?

Maybe I read wrong.

Moodswings was pop genius - such an amazing song that would've been much bigger had it been released as a 1st or 2nd single - I think the poor choice of singles after Crazy Chick sortof dented the whole campaign a bit.

The album wasn't too bad in my opinion other than the singles the only real gem was Let's Be Alone.
I own the album but other than the singles and "lets be alone" (WHY wasn't this released??) - the rest is rather bland. No good album tracks as such
It was further towards the 300k mark, around 260/270k. Ask Graham he used to moderate her forum. It was certified platinum though.
Heat said it was about 235,000

I felt 'Moodswings' was ok and had a good video but tbh I was expecting something a bit better and a little more special as I had previously heard so many people praising the song so when I came to hear it I found it very average and am not surprised it didn't do very well. I think it should have been the third single after 'Crazy Chick' and 'Call My Name'. Whilst I don't mind it, 'Even God Can't Change The Past' was never going to be a particularly big hit as it really isn't very commercial.
Well platinum is like 300.000 so it can't possibly.

The album hasn't sold platinum at all. It has sold very poorly compared to expectations.

Well that's what I've been saying.
