this looks like a big step forward, at least sonically, cos it's with a full band for the first time.

there are gonna be so many vinyl variants we're all gonna go broke :D

there are already a couple of very interesting interviews out there, where she explained how burn out she felt after touring for so long

that she decided to stop for a while and go back to uni and finish her degree.

amazing live performance on KPEX performing Faith Healer, new single Hardline, new album track Song in E (amazing song previously known as Mercy and performed live a few times, inccredible lyrics that will blow everyone's mind) plus a Soundgarden cover.

this is out in a couple of days

although her US label sent the album out earlier so many fans already got it even the week before release

can't wait, think it's gonna be one of my albums of the year for sure

Rolling Stone gave it an amazing good review already:

I wasn't hugely sold on 'Faith Healer' which made me think Julien was just going to be another Phoebe Bridgers type where I can't really buy into the huge hype around her, but the subsequent singles have been a lot better for me and I am particularly really enjoying 'Favor'. (Ironically that song has an uncredited contribution from Phoebe Bridgers herself of course )

Bre, don't drag my poor Phoebe around :D ;) <3 I love both Phoebe and Julien since day when no one knew them so hype was never a factor for me. I personally connect more with Phoebe's lyrics than Julien's, I just relate more <3
I decided to check this out off the back of enjoying 'Faith Healer' and 'Favor'! I must admit that it took me a little while to properly get into the swing of things but from about 'Ringside' onwards I felt a lot more gripped - 'Song in E' especially. I think I'll give this another go now to see if some of the earlier songs in the track list click more!

great performance on US TV yesterday

the lyrics are incredible, the ending where she sings "What if it's all black, baby?

All the time" and she keeps repeating "All the time" in the outro...

I think this is going to take a few plays for me... I found it a bit bleak on first listen and it didn't really suit my mood so I didn't connect very well with it.

for me it's not always easily to connect with her lyrics cos mostly she talks about addiction and relapsing, depression and also God and faith, so not connecting much... only when she talks more about relationships, then I do connect more... like in Something from the first album, think that's my favourite of hers ("I thought I meant something to you, but I know I meant nothing")

so far my fav in the new album is Song in E (previously known as Mercy), in which the lyrics are amazing and really resonate... also really liking Hardline and Favour, but the rest not so much so far... I also hate some of the song titles :D

Kinda obsessed with “Hardline” at the moment - the melody that it opens with and runs through sounds similar to that in “Lips Are Unhappy” by Lucky Soul, which had quite a 60s feel, albeit much slowed down.

Start asking for forgiveness in advance, for all the future things I will destroy

It's sort of heartbreaking - when that instrumentation comes in as well. I'm saving myself up for the album this weekend though which I am pretty sure will be incredible.

Little Oblivions is now the first top 100 Album x Julien in the UK charts! and nearly 2000 sales yay

51 NE 01 Julien Baker ~ Little Oblivions

it's a pity she missed the top 40 but alas I think a top 100 is already a remarkable result for such an under-appreciated and under-promoted artist in the UK...
