Sounds like I need to give 'About Love' a chance more than this

It's alright on first listen, I'm not blown away either.

I never like Marina songs for the first 20 listens. I really expected Love + Fear to grow on me. Maybe it still will.

I like the ending of this song - from 2:30 onwards on first listen. That bodes well.

The sound is very classic Marina but I love the principle behind it, the lyrics are politically charged and the visuals are stunning. I enjoyed it on first listen!

Hmm... it's... good.

Idk, I just think she excels more in uptempo, quirky pop. I think this will be a cute addition to her discography, but I honestly don't think I'll go back to it much. The message is delivered well though and the video is gorgeous.

Maybe it'll grow on repeated listens, but yeah, 'About Love' >> this from her 2020 output.

Once I knew the lyrics, I liked this a lot more! Thoughtful pop is Marina's brand! I agree that this sounds like it'd fit perfectly into Love + Fear so I'm hoping for some more experimentation in sound from the rest of the album. That's always been one of Marina's main draws for me. It's good but it doesn't excite me like I was hoping the lead single would.

the lyrics (!!!), the imagery, the f***ing GUITAR riff, the vocals!

I'm OBSESSED. Marina is back!

😭 😭 😭

Interview with Vogue where she speaks more about Man’s World and the new era in general. The single was created by an all-female team and was intended to be released in the summer!

Yes it’s definitely an indication of where the record’s going. But it’s a surprising record sonically. It feels rich and warm. Thematically it’s definitely sociopolitical but there’s a real broad message in terms of the themes I’m writing about. It’s all very hodgepodge. The way I write isn’t conceptual anymore, it’s just what’s happening at that moment in time
I cannot get over how incredible everything about this song is.

About Love was incredible, her best song in forever

sadly the new song is back to bad Marina, recycled melody, very very very very poor lyrics, as forgettable as the last album

I know right.
I don't think Bjork has heard the song yet :( if so please explain why you feel that way about the lyrics?

I like the production, but it pains me to say - given she's one of my all time favourite artists that i grew up obsessed with - I have to agree some of the lyrics; much like the last album are a bit cringe and on the nose.

I wonder what the Diamonds are up to now.

She’s a one woman operation and has always been one.

ddd I know, it's a joke given people often say she's lost her spark somewhat since she went for her rebrand.
