:hi: I don't know if this will be of interest to anyone, and it's worldwide not UK-specific, but I've been tracking the monthly listener ranks artists have on Spotify (which are shown down to #500) for the last... 55 days, and since we've reached the presumable peak Christmas day, I thought I'd post my table of it here. My dates are matched with the Spotify charts, and the 'monthly' period is 28 days, so 25/12 covers 28/11 - 25/12, for example. I've separated weeks (Fri-Thu) by thick lines, and hidden all but 1 day from each of the first 3 weeks to limit page stretching.

 

(Note that I believe featured credits do/don't count based on whether they're credited as a 'primary artist' in the song's metadata, so some features count and some don't. It gets more complicated though because, for example, you might notice Band Aid 20 are #146 [and that took me a long time to find the day they entered :lol:], with 86% as many listeners as Band Aid even though Band Aid 20's song has a mere 2.6% as many total streams as the original; this is almost certainly because the original is on Spotify as track 2 on the Band Aid 20 single, so most but not all of the original's streams [presumably ones that come from the Band Aid 20 single specifically rather than compilations] are getting counted as Band Aid 20 listeners in addition to Band Aid, based on Band Aid 20 being the album artist. This may also be why, for example, George Michael clearly has a decent chunk of 'Last Christmas' counting to him, due to the 2019 'Last Christmas' movie soundtrack which credits both George Michael and Wham! as album artists. There's also a 'Various Artists' artist hidden in the depths of Spotify that, while not given a rank, has 215 million monthly listeners currently attributed to it, more than double Ariana's 82 million.)

 

on Apple the Xmas are still dominating with Wham still #1, Mariah #2 and Shakin #3 guess cos their streams were so high the previous day and its a rolling chart

these are average YT streams, we usually see much higher when BTS or Blackpink debut a video

you're doing the wrong comparison, you have to compare with a random average day

not with what Ariana did that day

that just means Ariana did poorly, and Wham also poorly but a bit better

not that Ariana was normal and Wham massive

 

moreover, YT streams account for very little cos they're mostly free streams not from premium
