January 10, 20214 yr So what are you saying just let anyone who gets it and dies die? Nope. Didn’t say that all. Did you read my post? Or try and understand it? I said I agreed with the first lockdown however as it’s been ten months and we’re in a WORSE position than we were (even after multiple lockdowns and the majority of people sacrificing seeing their friends and family all this time), there comes a time when we have to accept that people aren’t going to take the rules as seriously now and we can’t judge people for finally having enough and cracking under the pressure with it all.
January 10, 20214 yr Just because we’re in this situation now doesn’t mean the first lockdown didn’t work. We haven’t had a proper lockdown since then and that’s one of the reasons nothing seems to be getting better.
January 10, 20214 yr They need to be closed for the lockdown and home deliveries allowed only. I disagree. Love my Friday chicken and chips. Often when delivered it's cold. People can socially distance in the queue so can't see a problem. Remember thousands more businesses may go bust if they've all to close. Those are jobs gone. East London here is full of chicken shops. Edited January 10, 20214 yr by common sense
January 10, 20214 yr As I thought would happen, while Spain, the UK, and Italy are all recording falling cases Germany still seem to be increasing in daily cases. Oops @1348348331840434179 I would take my country’s name outta yo damn mouth if I were you Spain, France and Italy all above Germany and shall we not talk about the mess that is the United Kingdom? It was dumb then and it’s somehow even dumber now

It’s what the government does when we’re not on lockdown that’s the issue
January 10, 20214 yr The way The Netherlands are the only country noting decreases in the 7day average as of yesterday and we are still royally f***ed  Western-Europe done f***ed up Edit: And Denmark

I understood it fine, it seemed to suggest that to hell with lockdowns I’m bored and want to do what I like! Edited January 11, 20214 yr by steve201
January 11, 20214 yr I understood it fine, it seemed to suggest that to hell with lockdowns I’m bored and want to do what I like! I wouldn't go that far but it was like the arguments Jupiter was making before on here about just somehow shielding the elderly and vulnerable from getting the virus and having less restrictions for everyone else which I had to counterargue if I remember and say it would be unlikely to work. January 11, 20214 yr I wouldn't go that far but it was like the arguments Jupiter was making before on here about just somehow shielding the elderly and vulnerable from getting the virus and having less restrictions for everyone else which I had to counterargue if I remember and say it would be unlikely to work. The problem is everything that we thought would happen during the first wave, is actually happening during the third wave.. hospitals about to collapse, extra morgues, over 80s not being given proper treatment. So in the 9 months since Covid first hit we had July/August which was basically a free for all and made everyone get too complacent (including me who is about done with covid). Easy to say now, but the Government could have said 'we will ease restrictions for the summer and early autumn' before the likelihood is the virus will grow again and we will have some restrictions. Now that is very easy to say, especially when Boris said we would be back to normal by Christmas. In hindsight we ran before we could walk and more transmissable variant caught us out.
January 11, 20214 yr @1348620218868920320 A good start, although not clear how many of those include 2nd doses, and the rollout needs sped up as soon as possible. A breakdown of which groups have received the vaccine would also be pretty handy too.
January 11, 20214 yr Author It was 1,296,432 as of 3 January 2021 - so that's an increase of 1.1 million in the last week alone. Although the rate does need to be 2 million a week to reach their target by mid-February. My nan has only had 1 dose, no word of when the second will be coming !
January 11, 20214 yr Was watching CNN and it seems to me that for America, Biden seems to be also planning something similar to the UK government with the vaccine (delaying the second dose so that more people can get the first dose). Edited January 11, 20214 yr by Road Salt Mixer

It was always a near certainty that there would be a second wave. As ever, Johnson was grossly over-optimistic and unwilling to face inconvenient facts. He has a habit of ignoring things and hoping they will go away.
January 11, 20214 yr Author UK vaccination data is updated here by the way: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/hea...ed_vaccinations 21,313 had recieved the full 2 doses by 3 January 2021, so not a huge proportion of the total Christopher - I expect we'll get a proper update later today.
January 11, 20214 yr TFL, Transport For London, says that 57 people have now died from Covid from across their bus, tube and rail networks since last March.
January 11, 20214 yr Apparently bars and restaurants and entertainment venues not opening until May?! Going ✈️ coma
January 11, 20214 yr Apparently bars and restaurants and entertainment venues not opening until May?! Going ✈️ coma But of course the London Borough of Dubai remains open for influencers and z list celebs
January 11, 20214 yr Apparently bars and restaurants and entertainment venues not opening until May?! Going ✈️ coma I've not seen that anywhere. I could see it happening if they really want to HAM this lockdown. But as with the last lockdown, bars and restauraunts will be the last thing to open. Schools first, then hopefully gyms/fitness a couple of weeks later. The vaccination numbers are really promising. I was scpetical of the February target, but I genuinely think we will be there or thereabouts. It seems the vaccination centres are getting up to speed this week and will upscale massively next week. I've also read there is some red tape about no vaccines after 8pm.. which they are hopefully trying to remove so they can go around the clock.
January 11, 20214 yr https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/pubs-to-...wn-b812413.html I know it's not important in the grand scheme of things or whatever but it would.mean a second birthday in lockdown for me personally, and then just knowing it's five months or so until I can feel I can actually LIVE and do things I enjoy. It's really depressing and work is probably the only thing getting me through this.
January 11, 20214 yr After over 80,000 deaths, 3 million cases and 10 months of the UK epidemic, Morrisons have become the first supermarket to confirm they will not allow entry to people without a face covering or proof of a medical exemption.
