January 27, 20214 yr ^^ The ones in the Netherlands That has as much to do with the European Commission as the arrest of the Liverpool mayor does with Westminster.
January 27, 20214 yr It did - the government told us to get back into the office or face losing our jobs in May. It was reported in the Telegraph. They forced us back, so it had direct relevance to the posts and topic. Yes I know that but why bring my work history in to it? What has when I last worked got to do with anything? January 27, 20214 yr Author Yes I know that but why bring my work history in to it? What has when I last worked got to do with anything? Because I was discussing going to the office, working, having a job. You kind of don't have that frame of reference so therefore I was pointing why you may not quite have the same opinion as us regarding 'being forced to do something by the government'. Stop playing the victim card after so blatantly trolling.

Well I have as every year I'm forced to attend an assessment and weeks of worry and stress as to whether I'm going to be thrown to the wolves and wrongly told I'm now fit for work. It's running late this time though, usually November.

January 27, 20214 yr You can thank the Tories for that stress. Yes I know that but I believe Coffey's paused them temporarily.
January 27, 20214 yr If online commentary is to be believed, AstraZeneca seems to have overcommitted and screwed themselves at bit. The reason why the UK is receiving so much ahead of everywhere else is that AstraZeneca appears to have agreed that the UK manufacturing sites would supply the UK up to a certain number (we don't know what) first before those supplies can be diverted to third countries. If, as the EU is supposedly demanding, supplies are diverted from the UK to the EU, then I would have thought they would be in breach of contract with the UK. So they are unable to fulfil BOTH of the contracts they willingly entered into. That still makes it their fault rather than the EU, the UK or Buzz Lightyear.

Whereas the EU has dusted off its contract and notes that they are to be supplied from 4 factories, including the 2 in the UK. (And what was it we were saying about the UK not playing vaccine nationalism? Tories gonna Tory. When they start accusing folk of doin things it is a CAST IRON guarantee that this gov has done that thing)
January 27, 20214 yr That has as much to do with the European Commission as the arrest of the Liverpool mayor does with Westminster. I was just making the point that the unrest means they want to get the vaccine out faster.
January 27, 20214 yr Author There's actually a lot of vaccine scepticism in parts of Europe (e.g. France) - UK has one of the lowest levels of it, probably thanks (in part) to the wide reach of the BBC.

January 27, 20214 yr Why do you support and vote for the tories then, they are traditionally a lot more stricter on benefits?! I know they are but I think Boris is great. Yes his hair is always a mess and he's a bumbling fool and he can't string a sentence together, even I'd say worse than Trump at times, but that's why people love him.

(And what was it we were saying about the UK not playing vaccine nationalism? Tories gonna Tory. When they start accusing folk of doin things it is a CAST IRON guarantee that this gov has done that thing) But they haven't approved the vaccine so I just don't see why they are kicking up such a big fuss about it. They are behind on the Pfizer vaccine too but I don't see the EU saying the US should give up their doses. I totally agree the way out of this is by a global approach, but it remains to be seen what rich countries will do. They've all made promises to their people but it really is quite childish. Everyone wants something which is in short supply. The EU also banked on Sanofi creating a vaccine too, but the good news is they have the license to create one now so that's something. My point of view is that AZ over promised on numbers but the way the EU is handling this is really bad. Let's not forget they have failed to meet UK targets either! Spain and Portugal look like they are going to get a battering over the coming weeks similar to the UK.

(And what was it we were saying about the UK not playing vaccine nationalism? Tories gonna Tory. When they start accusing folk of doin things it is a CAST IRON guarantee that this gov has done that thing) Since when is that vaccine nationalism though? It makes sense to allow the UK factories to supply the UK. That then frees up the EU factories to focus on the EU. I assume they thought the EU factories would be able to create enough supply until the UK factories started exporting. It's Astrazeneca's fault for biting off more than it can chew by promising an unrealistic amount of doses in the time frame given.

January 28, 20214 yr Our initial thoughts were that we would accept the vaccine if we had been given the placebo. However, we then thought that, if everybody given the placebo does the same, the trial will ultimately become useless because it relies on being able to compare the two groups. If you were in this position, what would you do?I nearly asked you this very question the last time you mentioned the trial, out of curiosity, but didn't want to be the one to put you in a moral dilemma . Personally I'd take the vaccine but tbf I live with a high-risk family member. Does the trial cover all adult age groups or just the more vulnerable ages? If I were you I'd lean toward taking the vaccine, if you feel you're vulnerable enough to need it. Hopefully some of the members are either skeptical or young/healthy enough to forego the vaccine for the benefit of the study.
