But everyone has been bringing that point up for months. If they pose that sort of situation then they are simply NOT SAFE.

If a child's parent becomes severely ill, that child is no longer safe (physically and mentally). Ergo: it is certainly not safe for children even if they are not the ones to directly become ill.
No he said they're safe for children as Covid doesn't affect them as much, but they may pass it on to vulnerable people.

We’ve known for weeks that there is evidence that children are more susceptible to the new variant than the previously dominant one.

I’m glad he has accepted that exams cannot go ahead, albeit only hours after the government were denying any such thing. I just hope they use the period of lockdown to devise a decent alternative. They also look at how to use the time that would have been devoted to exams to make up for teaching time lost for Year 11s, particularly in subjects they want to do for A Level.

And how are we supposed to pretend this is a democracy when the media and the government are just completely in bed together, and we have a state broadcaster that cheerleads the government?!

There is not necessarily anything wrong with journalists getting the text of the announcement in advance as long as there is an embargo on reporting it until the official announcement. Indeed, that is common practise in order to allow journalists to write up the story for the following day's papers or to publish it on their website asap. The text should, of course, also go to opposition leaders in advance.

Whilst it's absolutely the right thing to do and should have been done sooner... I am struggling to feel any sort of positivity these days.

We really are just existing aren't we? :(

Nigel Farage has said that Tony Blair should be put in charge of the vaccine program.

It looks like 2021 marks the return of the Banter Era.

If it is referring to the general overseeing of the logistics - rather than medical decisions on which vaccines to use and the gap between jabs- then Blair would do a far better job than the current minister in charge. Has anyone heard from Nadhim Zahawi recently? Ever?

Michael Gove has said the lockdown will go on until March at the earliest.
Michael Gove has said the lockdown will go on until March at the earliest.

So they are contradicting last night’s announcement already.

First time that waste of oxygen has said something that I agree with

I miss 2020...

We were in the EU. Now we have an even worse second wave and are outside of it!

A friend of mine was taken into hospital with Covid two days ago. It's frustrating to know that he is in a hospital a mile away but, obviously, I can't visit.
We were in the EU. Now we have an even worse second wave and are outside of it!

So what's the connection between the EU and Covid? None.

OMG panic buying's started. Supermarket shelves reported to be emptying very quickly today. Once again, loo rolls, flour, yeast, sugar, bread, canned beans, veg, fresh meat and fish.

Started just after 8 last night. Supermarkets say they have a lot of everything and more deliveries now so no need to panic buy at all. Will take my chances when we need something. Fully stocked right now.

Edited by common sense

Now borders can be closed, as you have seen, supply chains disrupted massive economic damage on top of the massive economy damage from the pandemic, more lost jobs... Absolute LUNACY that Brexshit puritans demanded brexshit in the year of a pandemic, when ALL POLLS showed a CLEAR AND MASSIVE - not 51% lol - majority in favour of delaying it!!!
