Succumb to this illusion, so strong, so deep

47. 2 Hearts | 7.0 Highest Scores: 10: (dabblie, dandy), Lowest Scores: 2: (Stuart25)

As we head into the top 50 now we say goodbye to the last of the X-Mas songs with Every Day's Like Christmas. Released in December 2015 as the 3rd single from her 13th studio album Kylie Christmas. The song was written by Chris Martin from Coldplay & Stargate who also produced it. For its release it was remixed by 'Stock Aitken and Waterman' , which makes this their first collaboration in more than 20 years. Both versions of the track received critical acclaim. Did hope that this would do a little better on here, but at least its this one that did the best out of the lot, so that's something I suppose. Epic in style with a very gentile laid back sound that oozes class & style. Why wasn't this the lead single as this beautiful number is truly deserving of future classic status.

At #49 & doing a lot better than expected is Some Kind of Bliss, released in September 1997 as the lead single from her 6th studio album Impossible Princess & was co-written by Kylie herself James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore while Bradfield and Dave Eringa produced it. Originally Kylie wanted 'Limbo' as the lead single, but the label opted for this instead as they didn't want such a dark hard core song to represent the album & while other tracks were suggested by her team, it was felt that 'SKOB' would be more commercial. Upon release the track received mixed reviews & performed quite poorly on the charts by peaking at #22 on the UK charts (her first solo release to miss the top 20), & peaked at #27 in Australia. Given the awful release date it had, I don't any other track on the album could have faired any better & while I wouldn't call this a lost classic or anything, its fine with a decent uplifting tone alongside some great guitars layered with strings and trumpets, which executes the alternative rock-infused sound quite credibly. However in the context of being the lead it sure missed the mark & wasn’t a fair representation of the album as a whole,

At #48 is Sincerely Yours, released in November 2018 as the 6th & final single from her 14th studio album Golden for the Australian & New Zealand markets only as a radio only single. The song was released through Kylie's own imprint 'Darenote Limited', and record label 'BMG Rights Management'. The song, a pop ballad, was recorded during a two-week stay in the city of Nashville, Tennessee in July 2017. It was one of three songs to be recorded in the city, alongside the album's lead single & the title track. A stunning yet understated ballad that's sweet & anthemic that provides a priceless sentiment to her fans whose stuck by her through the years & to put it simply its beautiful.

At #47 is 2 Hearts, released in November 2007 as the lead single from her 10th studio album X & marks as her comeback after 2 years away battling breast cancer. The track was originally recorded by British Electronic duo Kish Mauve in 2005. During her recovery, Kylie had started recording material for the production of the album & this track was offered by Kish Mauve themselves along with another track 'Lose Control' (which didn't make the final cut) for the album with production also handled by them for Kylie's version as-well. Upon release the song gained mixed reviews, but became a commercial success by becoming her 10th #1 in Australia, top 5 peaks in UK & Sweden, as well as top 10/20 peaks in several other countries including Norway, Switzerland, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France & etc. Another often maligned lead single choice as just like 'SKOB' doesn't represent the album at all as this opts for a more glam/rock style rather than the mainly electro/dance-pop sound of the album. However this isn't bad song by any means, sure its quirky & takes a little getting used to, but you gotta admit it was nice seeing Kylie so vibrant & alive again with some almighty swagger & fun vocal stylings with Kylie clearly having the time of her life on this little energetic anthem.

Every Day's Like Christmas And sincerely yours deserve to be a lot higher, not that fussed on the other two

Don't think any of those are in the wrong place, I'd have thought Lifetime to repair would have at least beaten Golden.

Passion dies without some tender meanings

46. Turn It Into Love | 7.02 Highest Scores: 11: (Qween), 10: (Nina West, Red Blooded Man, ___∆__, Pippa, Feel the Fever, Dannyboy), Lowest Scores: 2.5: (dandy)
45. Finer Feelings | 7.18 Highest Scores: 10: (Nina West, Davidson,___∆__, Dannyboy), Lowest Scores: 4: (Feel The Fever, vibe)
44. Golden | 7.2 Highest Scores: 10: (___∆__,dabblie, elf), Lowest Scores: 3: (Simon)
43. Shocked | 7.22 Highest Scores: 10: (Red Blooded Man), Lowest Scores: 5: (Simon, Nick F1, blacksquare, dandy)

At #46 is Turn It Into Love, released in December 1988 as the 6th & final single from her debut album Kylie in Japan only where it became a massive hit over by topping the charts there, despite no music video or promotion. The track is considered something of a hidden gem in her discography, as well as a firm fan fave amongst 'Stock Aitken Waterman' enthusiasts. The song has been covered many times throughout the years mainly by Japanese artists such as Wink whose version is titled "Ai ga Tomaranai (Turn It into Love)". British Hi-NRG singer Hazell Dean also covered it for the UK market in the same year where it managed a moderate peak of #21. There's no denying that Kylie's debut album was packed with so many smash hits & this could have easily followed suit & probably should have been given a worldwide release. From that first drum beat, it instantly explodes into a larger than life pop track where Kylie's voice commands every verse and chorus set against its prominent beat. An amazing track & a firm highlight from her PWL days.

At #45 we say goodbye to another era with Finer Feelings, released in April 1992 as the 4th & final single from her 4th studio album Let's Get To It and was actually planned as the follow up to the lead single, but was held back in favour of other tracks. For its single release it was remixed by 'Brothers In Rhythm', with whom Kylie would continue to work with throughout the decade, and continued with Steve Anderson into the present. On the UK singles chart it managed a #11 peak, but didn't fare quite as well in her home country Australia where it reached a #60 peak, becoming not only her first to miss the top 50, but would remain her lowest peak until 2010. Another lost gem in Kylie's discography that often gets criminally overlooked, especially when it comes to her 'Greatest Hits' collections where apart from her '92 hits album, this never gets included & that's such a shame. This takes a different direction to the album's singles with a more sensual groove, definitely her raciest track yet. While this takes a slower pace, I wouldn't call this a ballad, more of a dance ballad & while in its original album form takes a more mid-tempo tone ,the new mix really elevates it into a sexy yet classy tune. No wonder this remains a fan favourite to this day.

At #44 is Golden, released in May 2018 as the 3rd single from her 14th studio album of the same title. This was one of the three tracks that was written during Minogue's two week visit to Nashville, following the suggestion of a country music element for the album. The music video for the song was directed by Sophie Muller who also directed the videos for the album's first 2 singles & was released on her 50th birthday. The track a self-empowerment anthem, which has been described as a take on soundtracks from Spaghetti Western films, namely the theme song to 'The Good, The Bad and the Ugly'. This marks the first time that Kylie's ever released a title track & simply this was a great choice with infectious verses & choruses that uses organic production that works wonderfully within the context of the album.

At #43 is Shocked, released in May 1991 as the 4th & final single from her 3rd studio album Rhythm of Love & was given a remix titled the DNA 7"Mix for its single release featuring a rap in the bridge by Jazzy P. The received positive reviews & became a commercial success by reaching a #6 peak in the UK, making Kylie the first artist in the history of the UK charts to have their first thirteen releases go top ten. As well as hitting top 10 peaks in Ireland, Australia & Finland. It's not often that an album can spawn a run of perfect singles, but 'ROL' managed that feat with this strong number rounding things off on an almighty high. This was probably more harder edged than anything prior with its funky electric guitars & instant hooks really grabs your attention. A brilliant tune with a powerful Hi-HRG sound that showed some great progression & maturity as Kylie continued moving forward.

42. Did It Again | 7.28 Highest Scores: 11: (vibe), 10: (___∆__, Tawdry Hepburn, elf), Lowest Scores: -1: (Stuart25)
41. Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi | 7.32 Highest Scores: 10: (Nina West, ___∆__, Dannyboy), Lowest Scores: 2: (dandy)
40. Giving You Up | 7.36 Highest Scores: 10: (___∆__, Tawdry Hepburn), Lowest Scores: 2: (vibe)

At #42 is Did It Again, released in November 1997 as the 2nd single from her 6th studio album Impossible Princess. Co-written by Kylie herself alongside Steve Anderson and Dave Seaman & lyrically deals with her self-hatred & self-consciousness in response to the British media labelling her anorexic & Kylie started writing the track after they published stories about her private life. Upon release the song received a much better critical & commercial response than the lead single by hitting top 20 peaks in the UK & Australia, where in the latter it was certified Gold. This remains the most scathing, self-deprecating moment in Kylie's back catalogue to date & yet in the music video she gets to have fun with this concept by battling various versions of herself. As for the song itself its a truly great yet unique number that bridges the gap between the album's rock & dance tracks.

Just outside the top 40 at #41 is Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi, which translates in English as 'I Don't Know Why'. Released in October 1988 as the 4th single from her debut album Kylie. The title of the song varied in different parts of the world. In Australia and New Zealand it was retitled "I Still Love You" followed by the original French title in brackets. For the UK market the b-side 'Made In Heaven' was meant to be treated as a single also, due to it having a music video. The plan was to first heavily promote the a-side & once that peaked, then promote the new track, however due to 'JNSPP' being so successful on its own, the idea was scrapped. The song was a massive commercial success by topping the charts in Finland, #2 peaks in UK & Ireland, as well as top 10 peaks in New Zealand & Norway, then hit top 20 peaks in Australia, Denmark, Germany & France. Another strong number from Kylie's early PWL days where even at this early stage Kylie shows her love for France (HELL just look at the title). This takes a more down-tempo route than the album's previous singles while at the same time not quite being a ballad, yet still remains a stunning pop track, a firm highlight from her debut.

Kicking off the top 40 & coming as a total surprise is Giving You Up, released in March 2005 as the 2nd & final single from her third greatest hits album Ultimate Kylie & was her last single released after she was diagnosed with breast cancer two months later. Upon release the song received mixed reviews but became a success by hitting top 10 peaks in both UK & Australia. In the latter country the b-side "Made of Glass" started gaining airplay on its own & therefore was classed as a double a-side there. Honestly I wouldn't rank this as one of my fave Kylie tracks & actually preferred the b-side personally. But as for this it does a strong funky bassline with hard edged synths, but don't find the processed vocals all that fun, they come across as more robotic than interesting. So on the whole, its just okay.

Wow, I cannot believe Did It Again and Giving You Up scored higher than, um, SHOCKED?!?! Or Finer Feelings, or Turn It Into Love :o The 43-46 places surprised me a bit. And Giving You Up higher than so many of the gems that landed outside the Top 50... I can't believe this is the highest rated single thus far

I'm also surprised Into the Blue hasn't been revealed yet  Though I actually love that single and rated it highly.

Edited by dabblie

Thought Shocked would be higher. I also love 2 hearts and have a soft spot for it but knew it wouldn't be too high.

Is Chocolate still to come?

Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi is the only song here I really rate and wish it was higher. Then again if it was based on visuals then Did it again would be Top 10, love the video.

Shocked, Did It Again and Giving You Up criminally low (how can 'Shocked' be that low though?! It's such a widely acclaimed iconic Kylie single)

'Golden' feels a bit too high.
