I think the format has some light merits but needs a tweak. I would quite like it to be a little shorter maybe, or at least the tyres to be like special sprint tyres that could actual last the distance being driven at full pelt without going off a cliff after half a lap - like the old Michelin tyres that you could drive like 40% of the season on without them showing any signs of wear (just as long as you stayed away from the banking at Indy.....)

Its not much of a sprint if everyones tyres are dead within 5 minutes because then its like 1 exciting lap and then boredom sets in.

I'm against the format as it stands for several reasons -

It destroys much of the excitement and unknown of the race, creates issues over what and how pole position is decided, causes engine wear that could affect the title race through a penalty/failure (the additional mileage was not factored in to the budget cap), lack any real tactical intrigue and make some races worth more than others which should never be the case. It places gimmicks and the show over tradition and pure sport.

The only positive is making every session matter but they could streamline practice running to achieve the same result.

I'd be in favour of the concept with reserve drivers competing for their own championship as a way of developing new talent, that contributed only to the constructors title but otherwise I may stop watching them

totally against, makes no sense, a race of 45 minutes it's not a sprint :D

Crying and the race ain’t even started.

I don’t understand why they play any radio from Merc or Hamilton. It’s either crying or lying. Either way it ain’t worth anyones time or energy to listen to

I don't agree there.

As soon as he came on it highlighted that they're much more worried about overheating than Red Bull, and that following another car will be tougher for them than most

When was the last time Lewis lost out on raw pace to the second Redbull?

Superb for Perez to finally stand on the podium in Mexico, finally a race for him here without some bad luck

But is that news tho? We have known for what? 7 years now that the minute you make the Merc actually deal with Traffic it’s utterly hopeless because it’s entirely designed for a pole to flag victory and cannot cope when put in other situations.

And are they actually worried about over heating or are they trying to play Red Bull because surely even they know by now there isn’t a person alive who believes Hamilton when he talks about tyres

It was definitely one of the worst tracks all season for being able to follow, happening all through the grid that faster cars would catch and not be able to get past. Perez closed to Hamilton so easily and then couldn't get near, but same throughout, Riccardo was behind Giovanazzi for ages.

Qualifying gave the hope that it would be a more interesting race but it was as Red Bull dominated as predicted.

Like a casual Sunday drive for Verstappen.

He will win the title easily at this rate .

Great to see Perez on the podium in his home race. Raikkonen a very solid eighth place.

Not exactly news but it demonstrates that they're much more concerned at this circuit than normally and the race proved that it was much more of an issue than before.

It's all extra detail that colours the full picture

I wouldn't take anything as a given yet. Brazil should favour Red Bull, although not as much as Mexico did. The last three could all favour Mercedes. Two are unknown and Abu Dhabi has bee remodelled and looks good for Mercedes now.

That said Max is favourite, particularly as I think Lewis is holding off on new engine parts. If anywhere I'd take that at Brazil, a circuit you can pass on.

And a DNF or dose of covid can change everything

Very disappointing race for sure, absolutely nothing happened after the chaos of lap 1. It's not a great circuit though. Interlagos on the other hand... can't wait for that. Don't forget it's a Sprint format next weekend too which means Lewis & Max coming together again going by precedent!

Shocking weekend for McLaren, can't believe how slow they were (even accounting for the Ricciardo error).

I really don’t want this to end with Max losing the title on a DNF

If he had scored something in Silverstone he’d be a race win ahead now…..

Good to see Seb comfortably in the points

And if his tyre hadn't blown in Baku he'd also have another race win. But if that didn't happen then we wouldn't have the Hamilton magic incident, so it's always a case of ifs buts and maybes.
Yeah I tend not to count Baku as a "what if...." race because Hamilton totally f***ed it and there was no net gain there (same with Monza).
