A total of 317 tracks made the Radio 1 playlist in 2020 (compared with 377 in 2019 and 351 in 2018) but which ones spent the longest on the playlist, whether deservedly or not?

Here is the list of songs which spent 10 or more weeks on the playlist (note that these are songs that were only added to the playlist in 2020):

14 weeks:

Da Baby feat. Roddy Rich - Rockstar

13 weeks:

Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncé - Savage

12 weeks:

Biffy Clyro - Instant History

Miley Cyrus - Midnight Sky

Regard & RAYE - Secrets

11 weeks:

Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber - Stuck With U

Doja Cat - Say So

H.O.S.H. & 1979 feat. Jalja - Midnight (The Hanging Tree)

Harry Styles - Watermelon Sugar

Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande - Rain On Me

Tame Impala - Lost In Yesterday

The 1975 - If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)

10 weeks:

220 Kid & GRACEY - Don't Need Love

24kGoldn feat. Iann Dior - Mood

Arlo Parks - Hurt

Biffy Clyro - Tiny Indoor Fireworks

Blossoms - If You Think This Is Real Life

Declan McKenna - Beautiful Faces

Drake - Toosie Slide

Franky Wah - Come Together

Haim - Don't Wanna

Headie One feat. AJ Tracey & Stormzy - Ain't It Different

Joel Corry x MNEK - Head & Heart

Khalid feat. Disclosure - Know Your Worth

Lauv - Modern Loneliness

Little Mix - Holiday

Mabel - Boyfriend

Martin Solveig & Roy Woods - Juliet & Romeo

Paul Woolford & Diplo feat. Kareen Lomax - Looking For Me

Sam Smith - Diamonds

The Weeknd - In Your Eyes

Topic feat. A7S - Breaking Me

Additionally, 30 songs went straight to A-list this year (compared with 43 in 2019 and only 11 in 2018).

It would be interesting to see a list of R1's most played songs of 2020 and how that corresponds with the above list.

So, which songs outstayed their welcome? Which songs didn't get long enough on the playlist IYO? Personally 'Savage' is my least favourite song out of all of those, I know it was massive but I still think 13 weeks on the playlist was excessive.

Maybe I've not listened to Radio 1 as much as I thought this year because I don't recall hearing the Biffy song, they used to be far more on my radar.
