Look Up at the Stars

8.50

Highest score: 10.0 (Calum, JosephStyles)
Lowest score: 06.5 (HarryEzra)

With one more 10.0 score than 305 (and from the two people with the most taste here, clearly x), Look Up at the Stars finishes in fifth place - a great result for undoubtedly one of the best songs on the album. The song definitely has an ELO feel to it, with some parts reminding me of the soundtrack to the film The Magic Roundabout (random, I know). It's such a feel-good song, with really important lyrics; some of the most important, as noted by fans, being 'I'll never be alone' (a contrast to 'you'll never be alone' in the song Never Be Alone from Shawn's debut album Handwritten). The song starts as a typical ballad, but by the very first chorus we're plunged into more eclectic vibes, but it all just works so perfectly. Towards the end of the song, things really amp up and you know this is a song that's going to sound incredible live. Left-field choice, but I feel this would make for a great single choice in an ideal world where the label actually bothered to continue promoting the era beyond Monster - a run of Teach Me How to Love, Higher, then closing the era with this and a beautiful video to go along with it... how good would that have been?

Look Up at the Stars is stunning! It should have been the album closer, and honestly I wouldn’t miss Can’t Imagine if it was left off.
