June 26, 200619 yr Just read this over on D posted by Den:- Article in tonights Newcastle Evening Chronicle Returning to Newcastle with his Keep On tour, Will Young takes time out to talk to Laura Czerniak about the tour, Tyneside and a possible future on stage Will Young has come a long way since he catapulted to fame in 2002, with his Pop Idol victory over Gareth Gates. With 3 albums, 4 number one sinlges, numerous awards and a hit British film under his belt, the 27 year old has much to be proud of. The upcoming Keep On tour, playing various locations across the country during September and October, is clearly at the forefront of the singer's mind and he talks about it animatedly. 'I'm really excited. The last tour went so well, I'm wanting to improve on that. I think you have to put on a great show as people have paid a lot of money to come and see it.' Always polite, the former Pop Idol winner also said: 'I think there have been some other great shows recently, such as Madonna and Take That. They always put on a good show.' When asked about preparations for the tour, starting in September, Will said, 'There's a lot of work going into it. We're going to have 23 dancers on stage in total. Its going to be big.' The tour, which comes to Newcastle Metro Radio Arena on September 23, will be the realisation of months of hard work. Will explains,' I actually had an idea about how I wanted to perform some of the songs from the albumwhen I was writing them so performing them on stage is kind of the end of a two year dream.' The tour will feature songs from his third album, Keep On, alongside a selection of songs from his previous albums, From Now On and Fridays Child. 'I love performing new material as it's so fresh but it's also great fun doing the older stuff. We've reworked some of my previous songs so those should be fun too.' When questioned about writing his own songs, Will said:' I wrote about half of them, about seven.' So what does Will think about Tyneside? 'Ive been on a few occassions, maybe about 5 times but I don't really know much about the area,' he admits. 'But it seemed nice. We just stuck along the Quayside as that was where we were staying but it seemed really fun. Good bridge!' Whichever bridge Will was talking about, its clear he's a nice guy. And also truly devoted to his music. He said,' To be honest I dont get much spare time at the moment with preparations for the tour, its so much work, its all go. I also spend a lot of time emailing my creative director as he's in Australia at the moment.' A performer by trade, Will has also dipped his toes into the world of acting, playing the part of Bernie (sic) in the 2005 film Mrs Henderson Presents, along side Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins.

June 30, 200619 yr I wonder what the chances of finally getting to hear him sing 'Going My Way' will be on this tour... I'm guessing slim to nil. Not long until it all kicks off, still waiting on a load of tickets to arrive but at least there is no more stress of buying them now :cheer:
July 3, 200619 yr Agree Harri, would love to hear Going My Way live. Can't wait now, and my first opening night too - never mind Will, I'll be a bag of nerves :D
July 4, 200618 yr He aired Lovestruck at the Mermaid gig - don't think we have heard this live before. It would be lovely to hear a re-arrangement of one of his songs from FNO - especially as it's been selling again too.
