Posted February 13, 20214 yr 'Haiti' is the current single from Irish producer Ross Walsh, aka Welshy, which seems to be gaining some traction. It's had a few playlist adds across the streaming services over recent weeks and has just been made Radio 1's Tune of the Weekend this week! Support also comes from Capital Dance. The track surfaced in early 2020 in demo form before being released officially at the start of October on Insanity Records (a subsidiary of Sony). 5oHZDu0L6xo The Haitian Creole lyrics give the track an air of mystique, yet the story is just as interesting as you may imagine. It’s based on a Haitian folk song in which a young boy is sent to sell coffee at the market. Everything goes downhill for him from there: he gets lost, loses the coffee and ends up in trouble with the police. Not that the long arm of the law bothers him. He’s far more afraid of returning home to his mother empty-handed.I sampled the sound of a rugby ball being hit. That became the kick or beat of ‘Haiti’. I needed to find a vocal that would fit that beat, and by chance, I had a vocal on my computer that I found then I threw it over the beat and it worked! Remixes are also available from Robbie Doherty and Nathan Dawe Jqp9XGYTwrU U4_tWm6fIkk
February 13, 20214 yr Author This really did just pass me by when it was released initially but I've grown to really enjoy it recently! Currently in the Top 60 on iTunes. I hope Radio 1 playlist it properly.
March 6, 20214 yr Thank you Radio 1 for playlisting this, this is fabulous *.* (I'd probably be dismissing it as nothing special if the lyrics were in English but hey I am shallow and easily pleased by this kind of thing)
July 2, 20214 yr I'm liking 'All For You' as well although it's not quite as great as 'Haiti'. Can we have Welshy making the top 100 one of these days pls x
