is this a record??

dance seems to be firmly on top of the chart at the moment :cheer:

3 Wellerman (remix)

4 Don’t Play

6 The Business

7 Paradise

8 Get Out My Head

9 Goosebumps

10 Friday

are you liking the dance domination? which is your fave current dance hit of the moment?

personally, most of these aren’t actually big faves of mine but mostly cos my taste is moving away somewhat from the generic mainstream hits - I do really enjoy The Business though, a catchy and original song.

There are six in the top 10 in this chart from November 1993:

8. Real Love - The Time Frequency

9. Feels Like Heaven - Urban Cookie Collective

10. Little Fluffy Clouds - The Orb

All of them fantastic too :cheeseblock: and to think not so long ago we were crying out for more dance in the chart.
It's good to see the dance domination at the moment, it feels a bit overdue! I really like three of the seven (The Business, Paradise and Get Out My Head), Goosebumps is pretty good too but not really feeling the other three.

Think I'd rank them rn as this:

1. Paradise

2. Wellerman

3. Get Out My Head

4. Friday

5. The Business

-

6. Don't Play

7. Goosebumps

Not too fussed on the bottom two, but it's fantastic to see!

I think I'd go for...

1. Paradise

2. Get Out My Head

3. Don't Play

4. Wellerman

5. The Business

6. Goosebumps

with

7. Friday

not really being given the time of day (pun intended!)

01. Don't Play

02. Goosebumps

03. Paradise

04. The Business

05. Wellerman

06. Get Out My Head

07. Friday

Garage supremacy :cheer: :kink:

Love:

01. Don't Play

02. Get Out My Head

Wouldn't go out my way to listen but it's solid:

03. Paradise

Would probs dislike if I heard them more than I do:

04. The Business

05. Goosebumps

Hate:

06. Friday

07. Wellerman

a real mix of love and hate here for me :kink:

Will keep looking through the year 2000 charts to see if any had more than 7 dance songs top 10. 2000 was an amazing year for dance making the top 10.

The Business is probably my favourite of the bunch but I don't overly care for any of them tbh.

I'm kinda on the same page as seven though, it's not as good for me as it was during 13/14 - that was the last time I really liked lots of the dance music that made the charts.

It’s fantastic to see it doing so well as a genre, and I wonder what the reason is - people missing clubs and nights out? Or just a coincidence that so many big and well supported dance songs are around at the same time?

I personally only love the Wellerman remix from that lot though. Most of the rest are good enough although Paradise I find a bit meh. I hope ATB can get up that way in the next few weeks.

Still hoping that trance will one day make a commercial return, I still believe that all it will take is one of the big artists of the day taking a chance and releasing a trance influenced single that smashes by sounding so different, and everyone else follows suit.

None of these have made my personal chart at all oops (although I charted the non-remix version of 'Wellerman' and I think the remix is nearly on par with it, I just think the song works better being a little more stripped back but the remix certainly doesn't ruin it at all). I think the state of chart dance music has improved a little bit from how it was a year or two again though, back then the dance songs were for the most part pretty consistently among the worst songs in the chart for me but I do think most of these songs are at least decent (only the last two that I don't like at all, 'Get Out My Head' being just too bargain basement for me to appreciate and 'Friday' being straight up cringeworthy).

Or a trance song becoming big on TikTok, if sea shanties can do it then trance can, but I can see a more cheesy eurotrance style song becoming big on there as a meme rather than a sensible trance song but either way it would be good.

I miss the the dance hits of 2013/2014, can we have those back instead?
