Such a good episode for me. The US snatch game wiped the floor with the UK one with strong performances from Symone, Rose, Gottmik and Denali etc

 

I loved the educated humour from Rose and the funny and relevant performance from Symone. Gottmik was another level though

 

Kandy was ok and was lucky in my opinion to have an obvious bottom 3 below her

 

I am gutted Utica did badly - she needs to up her game as I don’t think she’d survive many more lip syncs. At one point I thought they were going to save Utica because of her runway, as Olivia’s snatch game was also bad

 

For me the right winner and right elimination. The gap between the top 8 and Elliott never looked so big

Did Elliott even know the song? It seemed like his lipsynch was off...

 

The social media characters did nothing for me. I guess Utica's Bob Ross and Elliott's Rue deserved the bottom more though. Elliott and Utica were a mess.

 

Gottmik's Paris and Rosé's were obviously the best this week, but at the same time they really only got the voices right and then mostly let that do the work. Gottmik felt a bit lazy - I don't mind contestants going for "easy" choices, but it does feel like that's all the more reason to push it even more (see Chad Michaels doing Cher). In the grand scheme of things I don't think there was one that really placed up there for me.

 

(And can Ru start calling out Queens doing male drag again?)

It didn’t feel like she went massively far from her comfort zone. She would have been nowhere near as good with a different character

I actually really loved this episode!!! A really strong snatch game - the top 3 plus Symone killed it!!!

 

Kandy really got away with playing herself and Tina got away with the WORST runway of the season (bar LaLa Ri ofc) - I'm worried both of them will end up in the final at this point!

 

Happy Utica stayed and I got what she was going for in Snatch Game it just didn't work, Elliott was just awful. I got a vibe of he was over it in this episode too, but maybe that's just me.

Denali snatch performance was one of the best of all time...so good!!!

Denali's Snatch Game performance :cheeseblock: probably the best SG in a while for me in that there were a lot of performances that I actually enjoyed as opposed to just one or two.

 

Symone, Rosé and Gottmik killed it too. I do agree with the comments about Gottmik hardly pushing the boat out though - she just nailed a pretty simple character.

Yeah it’s a hard PASS on this opinion- drag is not restricted to a gender at all?

 

Really solid snatch game- considering Kandy would have been in the top in Season 11 considering how poor that was. Some really great runways and evil has been defeated in Elliott’s elimination!!!

I'm quite surprised with all the positive comments in here, as I think it was quite a weak one. Gottmik, Denali, Rose and Symone were all good but the rest could have easily ended up in the bottom 2 for me. Kandy was just being Kandy, she was funny, but not playing anyone besides herself.

A good episode and quite a lot of people did well in the snatch game! I honestly thought Denali was going to win. Gotmik did really well, but Paris felt like a much easier role to play as it isn't too far off Gotmik's personality (and the fact she's worked with Paris before). If Denali's runway was better they may have given it to her instead maybe? Rose being top was great to see too. Rose/Denali are finally being recognised the last couple weeks or so after a string of safe weeks. :wub:

 

Symone did really well. Kandy did good, although she was basically herself. Tina wasn't anywhere near as good as I thought she was going to be! If anything I thought Tina would've been the one to beat going into the snatch game. Her runway outfit wasn't good either.

 

Olivia low and Utica/Elliot being bottom 2 was the right choice. I'm surprised Utica beat Elliot in the lip sync. In fact Elliot looked rather lost for most of the lip sync. I thought she was going to turn it out! Utica needs to listen more and adapt to challenges. I'm worried Utica's time is coming to and end. :( She's been low-low-safe-btm2. Usually queens with something similar don't last much longer.

 

 

I just don't think I'm going to enjoy this season. Kandy had 7 confessionals in the 1st ten minutes and the overexposure does nothing for me. I haven't actively disliked how a queen is portrayed since Eureka on S10.

 

Rosé was decent I spose but she was doing accent humour mostly. I felt Denali was just ok. I would've had Symone high over her. Tina Burner was shit. Olivia was imo the worst, but Utica ignored all warning signs and so deserved B2.

 

Fingers crossed this episode set up a late game Rosé rally to the finish line.

I thought it was the best episode yet in season 13! I only really know Paris from the list of celebrities (and sort of Mary, Queen of Scots I suppose? :lol:) so it's tough to judge against the real thing but Gottmik was incredible and I LOVED Symone too - she really deserved to contend for the win in my opinion, especially with that breathtaking runway too. No complaints with the bottom 3, they all deserved it, Utica was particularly terrible in the snatch game but I like her on the whole so I'm glad she smashed the lipsync.

 

Gottmik's barely shown any weaknesses yet has she? I think she could be a REALLY strong winner contender at this rate! Anyone to stop the unbearable Rosé please :(

I feel like that's the point though? Why would she put herself at risk with a character she's less comfortable playing when she can smash Paris so easily? As long as you're funny (and Gottmik was, we both agree there!) and your impression is good, I don't think much else matters. And I think anyone could be better or worse with a different character!

I love Gottmik, but in the dancing episodes she definitely struggled A LOT. I'd say Rose is probably the only one who hasn't shown any weakness yet (Symone is still my fave, but the Rusical wasn't her week).

Agreed! I have really really enjoyed her but her dancing was very shaky and arguably should have seen her in the bottom 3

Gottmik's weaknesses have been SHIELDED imo.

 

She's a poor dancer, a decent actor, ok at construction but I question the taste level. Her greatest drag power is being rich coming in though, which I don't really think deserves kudos. Anyone can walk like a model in expensive outfits someone else made for you.

My point wasn't that Gottmik should do someone else but Paris, just that when someone's obviously comfortable with impersonating someone that leaves a lot of room to push it further if that makes sense. It felt a bit "lazy" in that way that I felt there could be more done there (as I said, see Chad Michaels doing Cher at Snatch Game). Maybe do more with the whole "Paris isn't as dumb as she pretends" thing (obviously without running the joke into the ground)? With that said, I'd rather have someone doing someone well (albeit lazy) over whatever the hell Utica's Bob Ross and Elliott's Rue were. Or Tina's Richard Simmons. Or whatever that vegan influencer was. And Kandy essentially just playing himself etc etc.

I loved the Snatch Game, the best since S10 for me in terms of main seasons! I'd have given Symone the win, that was just perfect, I really have a soft spot for that kind of risk on Snatch Game,she could have really done anything with it and with what she did do, you just can't imagine anything else coming from Symone, it was SO her and so intelligent. And that runway had to be my fave of the season, just breathtaking, so simple but so powerful and I absolutely love that almost every time she comes out on the runway, she makes a statement with fashion and for me that's a type of drag that I just love. Gottmik was absolutely deserving as she nailed Paris, so many little nuances and jokes that made you know she really thought about every aspect of that performance. Rosé's batshit Scottish turn had me howling too and I was pleasantly surprised with how much Denali nailed it! I kinda thought she might just be herself dressed a JVN but that was hilarious, I was SCREAMING at "power drills in aisle nine yes henny" :lol: Kandy was a distant next slot this week for me, not bad but she was just herself, however she did at least make the effort to seize a couple of funny moments when they came to her. Tina was... kinda just there. I really thought this was hers to win, but I'm instead left feeling like I'd be surprised if she lasted more than another week or two. Her outfit was one of the worst this season, I agree I'd probably only put Lala's constructed bag look below it, that was just hideous.

 

I kinda get where people are coming from with Gottmik making an obvious choice of character, but I'd much rather an obvious/easy character done well then an "out there" or more unknown choice with absolutely NOTHING to it like Olivia's for example. I'd argue she was the worst for me, because there wasn't the voice, a single joke, nothing? Utica and Elliott were both terrible but at least Utica thought "shit I'm bombing" and did... whatever the f*** that was, and Elliott at least thought "well Blanche was the promiscuous one of the Golden Girls". Olivia just went "lol... fruit!1!1". Of course everyone isn't going to smash Snatch Game but I can't believe it's Season 13 and you're on Drag Race without a character fully prepared for Snatch Game...

 

I'm finding myself going off Olivia more and more as an aside, I just find myself getting Valentina vibes and not in a good way.

Teaaaaa, Drag can be absolutely anything at all, the most damaging thing one can do is restrict it. And I think the show is learning from that, remember Season 6 Milk got DRAGGED for wearing boy drag as Ru, and it was seen as a huge risk at the time when Kennedy did Lil' Richard as the first male impersonation on Season 7's Snatch Game. In fact for me, "fishy" or "glamour" is often the most boring drag.

I thought the top three were all good enough (with Denali a strong fourth) that the runway would have won it for them — which should have been Symone. Just incredible.

I did slightly prefer Symone and Rosé over Gottmik mostly because they did something more creative and out of the box — Paris Hilton was obviously safer, but still really well done.

 

Kandy Muse playing Kandy Muse and making the same tired jokes about weight and food that we have seen before — boot. Who knows what Utica was doing, clearly it was bad, but at least she was doing something — Olivia or Elliott were just dull.

While Symone certainly choose something out of the box, it did seem like it was a bit more hit-miss-hit-miss with the jokes landing. Rosé obviously was funny in an irreverent way, but also relied heavily on the accent, that's why I think Gottmik ended up winning since it was the most consistent performance (if a bit safe).
