Top 40 Chart Commentary It's not only Buzzjack's 15th birthday today but also... a week away from the milestone 550th edition of Thermo's hot hits! Topping the list again are Grandbrothers, spending a 6th week on top with 'What We See'. There's a whole load of new contenders for its replacement however with the remainder of the top five being replaced. Oliver Heldens is up to #2 with Never Look Back, now his 7th top five hit. If it makes it to #1 it'll follow Melody and The Right Song to be his third - although his best seller remains the #3 peaking Gecko (one of the top 20 most successful songs in THH history). Paul Woolford climbs to #3 with Heat, potentially looking for a second #1 to follow Looking For Me. Felon is up to a new peak of #5 with 'Fine Lines', of course not to be confused with the similarly titled Harry Styles song. At #4 is the week's highest new entry from Joel Corry, Raye & David Guetta. 'Bed' instantly becomes Joel's highest peaking song beating the #7 peaks of both Lonely and Head & Heart. Raye of course had two #1s last year in Tequila and Secrets so it's fair to say she has helped the song enter so high. It is also David Guetta's first hit since his most recent Sia collab 'Let's Love' by way of him seemingly demanding a credit for making Raye the coffee whilst she wrote the song. Another new entry in the top 10 comes from Croatia Squad at #8, now his 5th such hit. Never Quit follows up the #9 remix of In The Air Tonight for Nora En Pure & Lika Morgan. Lower down the chart FKR gets their first hit at #34 with 'Precious Souls', a discovery off Addy's personal chart, and also the 2nd song to sample 'Cloudbusting' to be a hit here, although it's a more subtle rework than the straight dance cover that Just Us did and got to #2 in 2017. Welshy also gets his first hit at #35 with 'Haiti', a song notable for vocals sung in Haitian and recently R1 playlisted. David Solomon shoots up to #37 with latest single Cross Your Mind, having had two previous top 40 hits under the name DJ D-Sol but now going by his real name. Yes he is the same David Solomon as the Goldman Sachs CEO. :lol: Two brand new entries finally; KSHMR follows up #5 hit The World We Left Behind with another world themed song, Around the World at #38. It bares no relation to the Daft Punk song or indeed any other of a similar title; and it is his 18th top 40 hit in total as a solo artist. At #40 Alesso & Armin van Buuren get together for Leave a Little Love. It is Alesso's first top 40 hit since... 2016(!) and his 14th in total. Armin of course is no stranger to the chart and has too many hits to count. In other news, Grum now joins a select few to have spent an entire year in the chart with a single song, as 'Afterglow' now passes the 52 week mark by climbing to #36.
